Intense, is how I would describe this book. I loved it and can’t wait to read more.
Cooper is a person willing to help anyone out whenever they need it. He has strong “family” ties with the men he grew up with but feels like he is lacking something vital.
Marlee is on a job as a PI tracking down missing infants and murderers. She thinks that Brice and Naomi may be involved.
When these two meet, they are attracted to each other. But the case stands between them. Soon Cooper and Jace are offering Marlee their assistance.
Read to find out what happens in this thrilling story. There is plenty happening that will keep you reading nonstop from start to finish.
I received an arc copy of this book and am choosing to leave my honest opinion.
WOW! This book had me hooked and I did not want to put it down. It begins with a horrific crime. An unborn child ripped from its mother, then the mother left for dead. The mother’s twin is a cop…
This crime drives Marlee to seek justice. 10 years later she is a PI and had made it her mission to solve these types of crimes, find the children, take the bad guys down. I cried, not going to deny that. Have tissues handy because you will need them.
Cooper is drawn to Marlee like he has never been drawn to any other He also knows that there is more to Marlee than it appears and that she is hiding something.
This book has so many twist, turns, moments that make you cry, moments that make you scream, and moments that leave you on the edge of your seat. It has everything.
Marlee is amazing and such a prefect fit for Cooper. I love a strong female who can hold her own. I will admit the story line was a little hard a points, but anything to with kidnapping of children can be. Cooper is always their for his friends and has helped all of them in the past. Marlee is more of loner because of her work and the fact she is always on the go. Reading this book made me decide that Donna Grant can do no wrong with her writing. Be it paranormal, romantic suspense or cowboys, each book tells it’s own story while still giving you little things that tie everything together. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.
This is book 5 of the Heart of Texas series. I can honestly say the prologue grabbed my attention with a crime so heartbreaking I just had to keep reading to find out what happened next. Marlee, is a Heroine who is focused, smart, determined, and always working to solve the mystery that changed her life forever. Cooper, our Hero, is hard working, generous, loyal through and through, and drawn to the new woman in town. A woman he admires for her strength, resolve and beauty. An attraction that has him thinking of the future. A love story threatened by a crime so unthinkable you are kept on the edge of your seat, praying for a happy ending.
Looking for a Cowboy ARC Review from the moment I started reading this book I could not put it down! Donna Grant’s amazingly wonderful imagination takes us on Cooper’s search for answers after his closest friends are looked into for something they haven’t done.
In Cooper’s investigations into Marlee who is caught in the middle targeting his friends who he calls family! Will Marlee succeed and come away unscathed as everyone close to Cooper is behind him all the way. What will Cooper do when he finds himself falling hard for this beautiful Private Investigator? Also who are the bad guys/girls behind the most horrible crimes happing around the place they call home?
This is book 5 in the Heart of Texas series and will leave you on the edge of your seat to see what happens next! This amazing book intertwines our beloved East Family, and other beloved Characters in this series which will continue in future books.
All I can say is Donna Grant you are an amazing Author you have nailed it again. I was so engrossed in this book and also been shocked by a certain group with who is involved!! Now I am trying to put many puzzle pieces together to figure out what’s going to happen in the next book. I am giving this book 5 stars Donna Grant’s books are so easy to read no matter what the genre is and if you haven’t read her books before this one will certainly leave you wanting more. Pre order or buy now you will not be disappointed I am so looking forward to all the future novels as the stories continue.
Thank you so much Donna Grant for taking our imaginations on this new adventure.
Wow. This one is a little darker than the other books in the series but still amazing. Marlee is a P.I. looking for a little boy that was stolen. She’s been following a string of murders and baby snatching and it’s led her to Texas and Cooper Owens and his friends. There are a lot of twists and turns that you don’t see coming. This book kept me up until I finished it. Great story and great characters.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.
I am loving this series. Give me a Cowboy and some romance with some suspense thrown and I’m a happy camper. The author has done it again. Spoiler:
The subject matter is a tough one. It includes things like killing moms and babies being cut out.
I thought the author handled it well. You are reading about this type of thing in the news a lot
I loved catching up on the past characters from the series. The story moves at a fast pace and I couldn’t wait to see how it was going to turn out.
Cooper is at a time in his life where he would love to find someone to settle down with. Marlee is a PI who has been trying for years to find her sisters killer. When they decide to work together to figure out what is going in his town, they are totally falling for each other.
LOOKING FOR A COWBOY is book 5 in the Heart of Texas series. It is the story of Cooper Owens and Marlee Hampton. I really liked the build up and suspense in this book. I’m usually not a fan of suspense books, but this book was written very well. There were some twists that I was not expecting and kept me guessing. I was rooting and cheering for Cooper and Marlee to have their happy ending. It was also nice to have glimpses of couples from previous books in the series, but it does not feel like the other couples take over the book. They are part of the story, but the main focus of the story is definitely Cooper and Marlee. I would recommend LOOKING FOR A COWBOY. I received an ARC for my honest review.
This romantic suspense is full of strong, sexy men like Cooper and Jace. There is also a very stubborn female named Marlee who is a wonderful, caring, passionate person, especially for her cause. The author wrote a story that will definitely have your heart pounding as you quickly turn the pages to solve all the mysteries to find out what is in store for you at the end. I could not put the book down. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I received an ARC of Looking for a Cowboy in exchange for an honest review. When I began reading the book I was surprised at what happened for Marlee to make the choice to become a PI. It’s heartbreaking. I didn’t rate it 5 because it was love at first sight for Marlee and Cooper, and I’m not a big fan of that. I do recommend this book for anyone who loves a great plot with suspense, adventure, love, and of couse the HEA ending.
Looking For A Cowboy is the fifth book in the Heart of Texas series. Although there are characters from previous books in it, I believe this book can be read as a standalone.
After a personal tragedy, Marlee has spent the last ten years on a crusade – recovering stolen children and returning them to their family, while also trying to find the people behind the kidnappings. She’s always worked alone, but when she is falsely sent to Clearwater in search of a missing child, she realizes she might need some help after all.
When Cooper meets Marlee, he’s instantly smitten. After he learns why she’s in town, he’ll do everything in his power to help her track down the evil people providing the stolen children. And hopefully keep everyone safe.
Excellent book with fascinating main characters, an interesting storyline about an unimaginable crime, and lots of love and care and help from previous characters. Highly Recommend!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.
This is book 5 in the Hearts of Texas series and it can absolutely be read as a standalone however I recommend reading the previous books because then you get all the connections between the different characters. Especially because those characters are in the previous books with their own stories. In this one we finally get Cooper’s story. When a beautiful stranger comes into town asking questions, Cooper knows there is something more going on than what she is truly saying. And as much as he knows he should stay away from her, he can’t help but to get to know her. Marlee is a PI who used to be a cop who just wanted a quiet life. But her whole life changed when her sister was killed and her baby kidnapped. That one incident changed her path in ways no one expected. Now Marlee has come to Texas to investigate the Harper’s and whether their adoption was shady. And while Cooper knows they wouldn’t be involved in anything shady like that, he takes it upon himself to help Marlee find out the truth. And hopefully keep her safe at the same time.
This book is definitely more on the dark side for me. Did I enjoy it? Absolutely, because you can never go wrong with any Donna Grant book! It was just a tough subject to read about and to know that this really does happen on a daily basis is heartrending. Cooper has always been this man that you loved. He is sweet, loyal, caring, and is never afraid to step up for the things he believes in or the people he cares about. Marlee is stubborn, and hesitant, but she is like a bull dog when it comes to this one specific subject. That was my only drawback, I know she went through something horrible. But I had a little bit of a hard time connecting to her and some of her actions. And my only other drawback? I wish there had been some sort of closure for her in regards to her sister. Now I just need Jace’s story because I have always loved him!
Marlee and Cooper’s suspenseful love story in Looking for a Cowboy by Donna Grant, book five in her Heart of Texas series, was truly enjoyable. Marlee Frampton became a P.I. after the murder of her pregnant twin sister while her baby kidnapped. Now she investigates for other families in similar situations. Her latest case has taken her to Clearview, Texas, to investigate the Harpers, who might be involved with a shady adoption agency. Cooper Owens is drawn to the stunning stranger, who has been asking questions about his friends; questions no one should be asking. He doesn’t believe his friends could be involved in anything so sinister and decides to help Marlee find the truth as well as keep her safe. As they search for the truth and the killers, they find themselves amidst a killer without a conscience who forces them to a face life or death situation.
Marlee and Cooper are attracted to each other from the beginning. They share a strong magnetism and off the charts chemistry that would burn up the sheets. Their attraction is strong enough to help them find a love that is soulful and fulfilling; matched together like puzzle pieces fitting together for perfection.
Ms. Grant wrote an amazing, passionate, suspenseful and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, amusing banter, scary situations, and strong characters, giving Marlee and Cooper a chance at true love and a forever together. I highly recommend Looking for a Cowboy to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I’ve been waiting for Cooper’s book since he and Jace came into the series. This book was intense, but well done in a way that I couldn’t put it down, I NEEDED to keep reading to see how it would end. It deals with the very real world of adoption, and the darker side of it, illegal adoption. As an adoptee myself, it was intense but Ms. Grant wrote it out well and respectfully. Giving us the positives (you’ll have to read it to see) with the negatives. I loved Marlee with her intense nature but her willingness to learn. Cooper was so interesting. He was unsettled, looking for what he was supposed to be doing in his life, and found it when he meets Marlee and her mission. There were some twists in this book I didn’t see coming which added to the intensity, Loved it!

This is the fifth book in the series & once again it’s a well written page turning read. There are parts of the book, which some people could find distressing. It’s a fast paced, hard hitting book strong on the suspense with some romance thrown in. I personally loved it & read it in two sittings as I couldn’t put it down. I loved both Cooper (I’d really liked him in previous books) & Marlee & the chemistry between them. I was totally drawn in from page one & engrossed all the way through. I hope there are more books to come
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
You are introduced to the horrid world of illegal adoptions where women are killed for their babies and others are kidnapped. Cooper and his family and friends gather to help Marlee, a PI, find who is behind this horrible crime.
Strong characters, mystery, suspicion and passion combine to create a great story.
LOOKING FOR A COWBOY by Donna Grant was a refreshing read. Some may find that an odd statement given part of the storyline being the difficult reality that infant adoptions often come at a high price of human lives. Marlee, a policewoman who becomes a PI after the death of her pregnant sister whose baby is cut from her body, is a brilliant heroine matched to Cooper, the drop dead gorgeous cowboy, who is “one of the boys” in the Heart of Texas series. Their chemistry starts literally at first glance. Ms Grant weaves their romance artfully throughout the story as we fight to identify those responsible for Macy, Marlee’s sister murder and locate the stolen baby. Marlee has decidated her life to finding children abducted from their families for illegal adoption and bringing down those responsible. Cooper is soon onboard to help her at any cost. I couldn’t put it down as the storyline races to find those responsible, and I don’t thinkyou will either!
I finished this book the same day I started it… I simply could not stop reading. The story pulls you in from the beginning and does not let go. I will say that the subject contect within this particular book could be difficult for some readers, but the way Ms. Grant handled the material was amazing. This book will take you on such an emotional roller coaster that you will not know what happened… from horror to hope… from heartbreak to elation… and then everything in between. While this is technically book #5 in the series, it can be read as a standalone. I loved Cooper and Marlee and their story and I can only hope that the last book in this series, Jace’s story, will live up to this one.
Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the complimentary copy of Looking for a Cowboy by Donna Grant for the purpose of reading and reviewing prior to publication. My opinions are my own, and no one has influenced them.
Looking for a Cowboy is book 5 in Donna Grant’s Heart of Texas, and it’s an exciting addition to this series. The writing pulled me in from the start and kept me enmeshed until the end. This book has plenty of action-packed scenes that had me biting my nails, wondering how the hero and heroine will get out alive!
Marlee Frampton’s character is endearing, and I became vested from the start. Her pain at losing her twin is truly heartbreaking. I could understand her drive to find the culprits who are killing women nearing their due date and stealing their babies. Her determination drives this suspenseful novel.
Cooper Owens is an easy-going cowboy who loves playing the hero. Although he wants to help Marlee, he knows she has big secrets, but I loved his willingness to accept her when he learns that she believes his friend’s recently adopted son may be a stolen infant. His loyalty to his friends and Marlee impressed me.
If you enjoy hot cowboys with a hero complex, and a great cast of supporting characters, along with plenty of suspense, then you will love Looking for a Cowboy as much as I did. I’ve enjoyed this fantastic series and look forward to book 6. Happy reading!
Once again Donna Grant serves up a hot cowboy with equal amounts of brawn and brains which ultimately helps him to win the heart of his chosen woman.
In this case, the same qualities are found in Marlee, our heroine! She is a strong, independent, intelligent woman on a mission. This time though she has the help Cooper and his friends.
There is nothing more compelling than a good romantic suspense novel where ‘romance’ is a thread throughout the storyline but the storyline that keeps the reader turning pages is the ‘mysyery’ that needs to be solved.
Add in well known characters in a familiar setting and you have a sure fire recipe for success.
A ‘can’t put down’ 4
