A cowboy finds love in the most unlikely place in New York Times bestseller Donna Grant’s newest Heart of Texas novel, Looking for a Cowboy. A beautiful stranger has come to Clearview, asking questions that are nobody’s business. Cooper Owens also wasn’t born yesterday. He knows that this out-of-towner is hiding a dark secret of her own. Much as he knows he should head in the other direction, he … head in the other direction, he can’t make himself turn away. . .
P.I. Marlee Frampton always wanted to lead a nice quiet life, working as a cop in her local police department. But that dream came to an end when her sister was murdered–and her baby kidnapped. Now Marlee’s come to Texas to investigate the Harpers, who may be linked to shady adoption agencies. Cooper can’t believe that his friends could be involved in anything so sinister…and soon he makes it his mission to help Marlee discover the truth–and keep her safe in his arms.

Suspense, murder, power, family, and love. The fifth book in Heart of Texas, Looking for a Cowboy delivers this and so much more. The characters are spirited and engaging, and the story is compelling and well delivered. Ms. Grant delivers once again in this book and I highly recommend you grab your copy.
Another suspenseful cowboy love story!
Cooper and Marlee meet when she’s investigating his best friend as part of her quest to bring down a child abduction ring. Their chemistry is immediate and the fact that they are the perfect partners in every way is obvious to everyone.
I really love this series as it is the perfect blend of hot cowboy heroes, strong kick ass heroines, steamy sexy times, and pulse pounding suspense.
I can’t wait for Jace’s story!
I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.
This series is a series I buy as soon as I see it pre-order. What a beautiful tearful sexy romance.

Absolutely Amazing. And it hits on some very hard life issues that are happening in our world
Fantastic.
I loved every minute of this suspenseful western romance that immediately grabbed me and kept me totally mesmerized until I read the last word with characters you want to know and a fast-paced story that pulled on the heart-strings while keeping me on the edge of my seat. I really liked Cooper Owens and his friends and family in Clearview, Texas and enjoyed his immediate attraction and undeniable chemistry with PI Marlee Frampton who comes to town to investigate the Harpers who may be linked to a shady adoption agency. Ms. Grant blew me away with “Looking for a Cowboy” book five in her must-read Heart of Texas series. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This book was so good. It was a different type of Cowboy romance and the PI was going after a specific type of killer and case. Which was really interesting to me. Also Cooper was just awesome. The perfect book boyfriend. On top of that we got to learn a bit more about the other characters who will (hopefully) have books coming out in the future. Finally, the climax was so good though I expected nothing less. If you are looking for a book with action but one where action that doesn’t take up the whole storyline this is the one for you!
*I received an arc for an honest review*
Marlee is on a ten plus year mission not only to find justice for her sister, but to help countless families not suffer the heartache her family has suffered. Her latest case has her entering Cooper’s world and she fights to stay professional in his presence.
Cooper is instantly attracted to Marlee but knows she is hiding something. When she lets him in on her big secret, he feels blindsided and bolts. When calmer heads prevail though, he knows what he must do.
Will Marlee accept Cooper’s help or will she continue on her own? While this novel did not start off in the typical fashion, it does touch on a real important subject matter. The author is a recent find of mine and I have really enjoyed her novels. Looking for a cowboy is no exception. Cooper and Marlee have instant chemistry which sizzles the page. Catching up with favorite characters from the previous novels was a great time too. I always like when characters age though the books. 4 ½ stars for this latest release. Now the bigger question is: Who isn’t looking for a cowboy?
I have some of the others from this series so in I went for this one. Cooper is one smart cowboy whom can tell when something is up. Marlee is there for more than she is letting on and he knows it. Already a mystery and you have not gotten into it too much yet. We know why she is there but the sad thing is we want answers too. So thanks to loyalty he decides to help her with her quest for the truth. As we see things come together one by one we are drawn into this one good. At first to think I almost passed this one up until I looked further into what it contained. I adore a good mystery and this one gives it to you with romance to fuel it along. It really should of had a different cover and title though it misrepresents what awaits inside with all the wonderful reading.
Wow, what an incredible romance with a fantastic mystery! Marlee devotes her life to finding babies stolen from mothers in the most awful way after losing her sister in the same situation. This leads her to Clearview where she meets Cooper, former military, all around amazing guy that always steps up to help his friends. These two form a bound that Marlee isn’t expecting and hasn’t allowed herself to believe is even possible. As they close in on the kidnappers, will they find love? Or do the kidnappers have other plans for them? Love the family and friends in Clearview. This is a wonderful community and together they show Marlee that she doesn’t have to carry her burden alone. I love being part of this community even for a short time through their beautiful journeys. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
This was an intense, emotional story . It addressed a pretty serious danger that keeps being done over and over again. Kidnapping women, murdering them so that they can steal there babies? It’s a gruesome, cruel crime so no wonder Marlee is relentless in perusing them. Her twin sister’s murder and the theft of her niece started her on this path but she began to release she has a gift when it comes sorting through the clues.
Some of the emotion also comes from when Marlee and Owen find themselves strongly drawn to each other pretty quickly. They both have been on their own for some time. Marlee of course has had no time to date, putting all her passion into her investigations. Owen hadn’t found anyone that grabbed his attention until he met Marlee. Then he just knew even though he wasn’t sure how a relationship could work out. It made for a good romance as they begin to learn about each other.
There is plenty of other people in the community of family and friends that surround Owen. At first, I was getting lost from time to time when it came to sorting them out. However, Cooper’s lifelong friend Jace didn’t fall into that category. They were so close that they were more like brothers than best buds. By the time the story was finished I ended up hoping Jace gets his story next and hopefully a love of his own. Either a recovered love from his past ( which was mentioned that there had been one) or a brand new one.
The whole story was intense, with surprise after surprise. And one of the best ones comes at the close of the book. Quite the dramatic ending. A H.E.A ending was also welcome as well.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Don’t be fooled by the title, this is not your regular cowboy story. Some of the subjects can be offensive to some people. Marlee is an ex-cop trying to find her sister’s murderer and black market babies cut out of murdered mothers. She follows a lead that brings in Texas to a couple who might be behind the scheme. while there she befriends Cooper to try and get closer to the family. The story is dramatic, with some suspense and brings some intense emotions. I volunteered to review this story.
Reading the prologue I knew this was going to be a gut wrenching story because I didn’t make it past the second page without crying. Yes I am at times an emotional reader and that has a lot to do with the way a story is written and this one had my heart stopping a few times.
Marlee was a Police Officer when her twin sister was murdered and her baby was taken, after seeing that this wasn’t a random act Marlee left the force and became a Private Investigator that works with families to get back the children that were taken from them so heinously. Her latest case has taken her to the small town of Clearview, Texas.
Cooper Owens, former Air Force Combat Controller now lives to help his friends. Cooper knows the horrors in the world and can scope out trouble a mile away so when he meets Marlee he knows she’s hiding something and he’s determined to find out what it is and make sure everyone he loves is safe.
Although this is the fifth book in the series, this is the first book I have read. In fact it’s the first book by this author that I have read. I know I’m late to the party, but better late than never. This book was fast paced with lots of action, it can definitely be read as a standalone if that is the way you choose to read it. I enjoyed the secondary characters so much I have added their books to my never-ending TBR shelf. I am looking forward to Jace’s story, he’s been through a LOT and this guy needs his HEA like now!
If you enjoy cowboys that have a panache for helping others grab a copy of this book now, you wont be disappointed!
Happy Reading!!!
3.5/5
Looking for a Cowboy is a new stand alone western romance in the Heart of Texas series. A series that believes in soul mates and supporting your family no matter what.
Marlee has spent the last ten years of her life as a PI hunting down abducted infants, most of the time it isn’t a happy ending and it’s taking its toll on her, but she can’t imagine doing anything else with her life. Her latest case brings her to Clearview Texas where she seems to hit a dead end but finds Cooper Owen. Cooper is looking for something meaning full to do with his life, he’s a vet who’s bored with his day to day. When he sets sights on Marlee he immediately feels a connection. He will stop at nothing to help Marlee stop the monsters harming pregnant women and abducting babies, and will do whatever it takes to keep Marlee in his future.
Like the rest of the Heart of Texas series this has a strong leading characters and a great sturdy cast of secondary characters surrounding them. Marlee is brave and selfless. She is such an unbelievable strong character, I don’t know if I would have the willpower to handle such an important and emotional job as she does. Cooper was such a southern gentleman. The complete package, handsome, polite, cooks, loves his momma, and able to protect the woman he loves. The romance between them was very much insta love (I’m talking a few days lol) but this is a series that heavily believes in soulmates and love at first sight, so I expected it. The hot and steamy intimate scenes bad up for the slightly cheesy love at first sight aspect.
Looking for a Cowboy has a story line that is interesting and fast-paced which kept me turning pages and not wanting to put it down. It also made me fall in love with Cooper’s best friend Jace and I can’t wait for his book!
5 She Gets More Than She’s Looking For Stars!!
This book is not what I expected it to be based on the cover but boy am I glad because it’s so much more than a woman looking for a cowboy… it’s a woman that’s looking for answers and is taking on some pretty powerful people that have devastated her life…and she won’t stop until she gets what she’s searching for!
Marlee is a beautiful woman and she’s hit the radar of many of the residents of Clearview, Texas especially Cooper Owens not only because she’s beautiful, but his gut is telling him she’s hiding something and that something affects the people that Cooper holds close to his heart!
My heart truly hurt for Marlee when this book started. I can’t even imagine surviving what she’s been through and this even changed everything about her and she has a new mission to find the horrible people behind the horrific events happening in the Southwest. I have to give her credit though, she’s tenacious in getting the answers and when it effects Coopers friends, it becomes an entirely new ball game. There’s just now way that I thought the Harpers were involved at all in how they became parents.
Ms. Grant did a spectacular job of giving me a nail biting read with the level of detail to each and every scene and the nastiness of babies being taken away from their mothers the way they are. I literally had no idea of the why’s and who’s until it was revealed and I even let out a gasp or two because come on!! I literally said out loud… NO WAY!!!
While this is book five in this series, and my first book by Ms. Grant, at no point did I feel like I was lost with the characters and the town of Clearview. I can assure you though that I’m definitely going back to read the previous books because I’ve fallen in love with Clearview, Texas and it’s inhabitants!
A romantic suspense with a chilling tale.
Marlee is on the chase, and this could be the one to help solve the one case closest to her heart. Finding herself in Texas, she isn’t used to having help, but Cooper becomes invaluable, in more ways than one.
Cooper knows the stranger in his small town isn’t just a random visitor. As they get close, he wants to help her, it’s his way, but also to clear his friends of suspicion.
Working together, danger seems to be following them, each in a different trap. Marlee discovers one in her inner circle isn’t what she seems, and everything seems to go wrong. Now she’s fighting for her own life. Cooper is running out of time to find her. As the clock runs down, their love might be the thing which keeps both alive until they’re reunited.
**received an ARC from netgalley**
Looking for a Cowboy is Book 5 in Donna Grant’s Heart of Texas series and to me it proves that Ms Grant can write in any genre, be it paranormal or western. I’m more familiar with Ms Grant’s works via her highly successful Dark World series, I’m not much of a western/cowboy romance genre reader but I found myself truly invested in this book.
I shall not rehash the blurb as you can read them for yourself, this book has everything to keep reader satisfied. An intriguing storyline, a charismatic handsome Hero, a heroine who (thank goodness) is strong and determined and enough hot chemistry to burn through the book.
Even if you’re not a reader of cowboy/western, I still highly recommend you check this book out. With its compelling storyline and engaging dialogue, you will not be bored. Thanks to NetGalley for the copy of this book, do note that the opinions above are all of my own.
Any book written by Donna Grant is amazing. She knows how to pull you in and keep you there. You will not be disappointed with this book.
Brotherhood isn’t always by blood, integrity, respect and friendship are what makes bonds for life. I think that’s what I love the most about this series. Grant captures men who are the mix of alpha male, with a healthy dose of chivalry and a twist of romance in the pages of these books. This novel’s plot is hard core, not shying away from a hardcore issue that is being brought to light.
Marlee is an independent woman protagonist who is surviving on her own, following what she sees is her destiny. But she isn’t living until she meets Cooper. Cooper feels like he is missing something in his life but he doesn’t know what the hole is until Marlee appears. Their chemistry is explosive.
Tight plot line, believable relatable characters, handsome alpha men, and a woman who can kick butt and take names, you can’t lose!
Donna Grant writes another amazing book!
I’ve loved Copper’s character from the first time we met him in this series. This book had some difficult story lines but was so worth the read. I cannot wait for Jace’s book. Thank you Donna for another amazing book.
Looking for a Cowboy is the fifth book in the Heart of Texas series. This captivating read pulled me in from the beginning and kept me riveted until the end. It had a fast-paced, suspenseful storyline that flowed seamlessly. It was an emotional story that pulls at your heartstrings. Overall, it was another amazing read in this amazing series. I can’t wait to read the next book.
