Stephanie Plum faces the toughest puzzle of her career in the twenty-fifth entry in Janet Evanovich’s #1 New York Times-bestselling series. There’s nothing like a good deli, and the Red River Deli in Trenton is one of the best. World-famous for its pastrami, cole slaw, and for its disappearing managers. Over the last month, three have vanished from the face of the earth, and the only clue in each … earth, and the only clue in each case is one shoe that’s been left behind. The police are baffled. Lula is convinced that it’s a case of alien abduction. Whatever it is, they’d better figure out what’s going on before they lose their new manager, Ms. Stephanie Plum.

Twenty-five was so fun! After a couple so-so books, is nice to have a truly entertaining one.
Typically Stephanie Plum; witty, irreverent and delightful. It is an escape from reality.
Never met a Stephanie Plum book I didn’t like and devour in a single sitting. This was another good one. Love the characters.
I have read all 25 books, this one was not up to par with the last 24. Still a fun read and the next one with Grandma in it should be good.
As always another great read from the Stephanie Plum series! I love these characters and odd things they go thru.
I’m a huge Stephanie Plum fan and Evanovich never fails to make her books funny engaging and full of twist and turns.
It was a fast read and very entertaining. Again, this book finds Stephanie Plum in a few difficult situations with Lulu, Moretti and Ranger. If you are a fan of Janet Evanovich it’s a must read.
I love this series and recommend to everyone.
I’ve read the whole series and it is my FAVORITE but I don’t think I’ve left any reviews because I just plow through them and move right along to the next, then I do a whole series reread, rinse and repeat. It’s an addiction.
One of the really fun things about the 25th book in the series is that Janet sprinkled in “Easter eggs” from previous books in the series. I’m not sure if I found them all or not but when some of them popped out at me I loved it. There were some that were so freaking cute. I love that she did this and can’t wait for her to release the list of what they are in December so I can see what I found and what I missed.
As for the book itself, it’s funny and wonderful just like the whole series. Making Stephanie the manager of a deli was a great idea. It provided a lot of laughs and I loved when Hal got involved. I will say I have no clue why Wulf was involved. He could have been left out and it wouldn’t have affected the story at all so I just don’t get why he was included. It took 130 pages before Ranger showed up (physically, not just over the phone) but thankfully once he did he stuck around and Morelli got pushed to the background.
Books 6-22 showed a steady progression of Ranger opening up more, revealing more of himself, and falling deeper in love with Stephanie while Morelli became more and more of a jerk to her, just stringing her along with hints of marriage that he never follows through on because he doesn’t want to marry her, but it seems like starting with book #23 Janet said “Oh I have to keep my love triangle going to satisfy readers” and made Ranger crawl back into his emotionally stunted shell. 24 was my least favorite of the series with Ranger acting very un-Ranger. There were a few decent caring moments in this one but still… the man went from “Sometimes I seriously consider marrying you” in #21 to not even saying “I love you” anymore. That drives me nuts, especially when Morelli has NOTHING to offer Stephanie and she keeps going back to him and now the two of them are just passing her back and forth. Seriously, the passing her back and forth thing is getting creepy and just weird. Who does that?!
Will I continue to read this series? Heck yes!
Do I still LOVE this series? Heck yes!
As long as there is Ranger I will be reading this series, even if I slowly go mad from wanting Steph to finally wake up and see that Ranger loves her just as she is and Morelli would have married her a long time ago if he wanted to. *sigh*
Come on Book #26! I need MORE!!!!!
Whenever I need a laugh I always grab Janet Evanovich off my bookcase! Stephanie, Lula, Morelli, Ranger, and the rest of the gang can always make me laugh! With all the craziness going on in the world, I needed a good laugh, and as usual, I got a bunch of laugh out loud scenes.
As always, another wonderful book from Janet Evanovich!
This series never gets old for me! I loved Stephanie in book 1, and still love her in book 25! I’ve seen some people say Evanovich should stop writing this series and I can’t even IMAGINE there NOT being another book as the years go by. I love this series! I hope it never ends. For those readers who are tired of it I suggest moving on. No shame in that if you aren’t into them anymore. Me? I want to see so many more. J.D. Robb has successfully created a series of books that are up to about 50 novels and I hope this stands true with the Stephanie Plum series. The humor is top notch and I’m always laughing hysterically from the antics that Stephanie and Lula get into. While this one didn’t have much of Grandma Mazur (she’s my favorite) I know the next one will be all about her. I can’t wait!
With all that being said, this is one of my favorite series of all time and I highly recommend it to readers who haven’t had the chance to read them yet. You should read them in order!
Stephanie seems a bit weary and that’s rightly so. I love that Lula was able to fill in that gap, that’s what friends do. Their enforcing has become a bit more risky but the laugh out loud moments are more than enough to keep me hooked, well that and of course, Ranger. Borrowed audio from my local library and Lorelei King is again excellent at reading aloud this series.
I love all of Janet’s Stephanie Plum books. The early ones made me laugh out loud.
Will continue to read the series.
It’s been awhile since I’ve read a Stephanie Plum book, and I really needed the laughs! 🙂 Lulu (Stephanie’s larger than life sidekick,) really stole the show. In this book, Stephanie needs to manage a deli that her boss took over. The bounty hunter is even less qualified to run a deli than she is bounty hunting. Of course all chaos breaks loose and the girls are smack dab in the center of it all. Fortunately for her, one of her FTA’s is also somehow involved with the crazy, bringing her closer to catching him. Meanwhile, while she is currently on again with Joe Morelli, that doesn’t stop Ranger from trying to tempt Stephanie into his bed. If you are unfamiliar with the series, each book can be read as a stand alone, and pretty much in any order. Each features a different mystery, though her personal relationships with Joe and Ranger may be different (as she is frequently on again/off again with Joe.) There is a lot of ridiculousness with the books, but that is where most of the laughs happen. The characters are often quite outrageous. Stephanie, is the voice of reason most of the time, though she finds herself giving into the craziness because sometimes, that’s just easier. Of course, Joe and Ranger also bring in the normal, rational and calm that she needs. As far as sexual content, it is pretty clean. (Some kissing and hinting at other things.) There is also minimal violence. It reads quickly and easily. It’s a fast moving story. It is written strictly from her POV.
All of Janet Evanovich’s books are fun reads. There is a sense of whimsy that makes them easy to pick up and read.
Stephanie Plum is my favorite! I eagerly await every release in this series! Number 25 does not disappoint. Her motley crew once again brings adventure and laughs in every chapter.
Love every Plum book.
Book 25 in the Stephanie Plum series proves that Stephanie is a better bail bonds enforcement officer than a deli manager and she’s an hilariously inept bail bonds enforcement officer. With Lula by her side chaos is guaranteed. The previous deli managers have disappeared. Will Stephanie be next?
For readers who watch for Grandma Mazur to stir up trouble, just wait.
The Red River Deli’s managers keep disappearing and since Vinnie owns the place, Stephanie Plum is tasked to become the new manager. Can Ranger and Morelli find out what happened to the others before Stephanie disappears too?
These books never get old. Stephanie and Lula work well together and this book a lot of Ranger and Morelli in it. Also, Wulf is back, but no Diesel. There are multiple laugh-out-loud moments as usual and some cringe worthy parts. Lula almost found a new calling making subs at the deli, but with her own unusual flair that made me glad she doesn’t work at a deli close me. Stephanie and Lula also get a chance to work a food truck. So funny! There is a great twist at the end with Grandma Mazur that moves us right into the next book. I’m enjoying the ride.
