Romance author Debra Clopton doesn’t disappoint! Cassie Sinclair travels the world as a photographer but returns home to recover emotionally after a near fall from a ledge! Firefighter Hunter moved to Florida after his wife was killed in a boating accident that left many questions. His daughter, Polly, survived the accident but has some memory loss about what happened. Romantic sparks begin flying when Cassie fills in as a temporary babysitter for Polly! I recommend this contemporary romance by Debra Clopton. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
Longing for Us by Debra Clopton
Sunset Bay Series Book Six
Cassie Sinclair loved her job. Traveling the globe. Taking pictures from all different angles and places…like rock-climbing or hanging over a cliff. Until an accident that truly had her life flash in front of her. A moment of realizing she may never be part of a happy couple getting her wedding photo taken. Always the photographer.
Hunter Claremont made the right choice in bringing his daughter, Polly, to this small town, Sunset Bay. His sister met a wonderful man and his family adopted him and Polly into it. And then there’s Callie Sinclair…also part of that big family. Whenever he sees her, his wall against every caring for another woman wants to come down some. But, she’s not the woman for him. No woman is.
Cassie and Hunter are now in the sights of the town matchmakers…and her own family. Can’t people see how wrong they are for each other? Another wonderful addition to this series.

I am so glad Hunter got his own book and his hea. He is doing his best to raise his daughter Polly and trying to move past his late wife’s betrayal. My heart hurt for them. Cassie is trying to find her place. Matchmaking at it’s finest but will it work for these two? Loved how the closer they became the more they opened up to each other. So sweet how much Polly loved Cassie. Really good series.
Cassie is the last of the Sinclair siblings who is single. After she has an accident at a wedding photo shoot, she decides to take an extended break and return home while she deals with her reaction to the accident.
Hunter is a new firefighter to Sunset Bay and he has a 6 year old daughter Polly. Both of them are dealing with trauma of their own as Hunter’s wife died in a boating accident. Since Polly was with her, she is dealing with the trauma of her mother’s death and having been stranded in the water for a period of time before being rescued. She is still having nightmares occasionally and doesn’t remember what happened right before the accident.
There is a definite spark between Cassie and Hunter. And as they spend more time together and open up about their traumas, they become even closer and both find their hearts opening up. It was heart wrenching finding out what happened when Polly remembers what happened to her mother that caused the accident.
This is a humorous, emotional, clean romance with characters dealing with real life situations. And of course, there is also matchmaking going on not only among the 4 “older” ladies of Sunset Bay but also with Erin (Cassie’s sister) and Maryetta (Cassie’s mother) playing a part.
Longing for Us is a well-written, clean, small-town romance. Cassie and Hunter have a winding road to an HEA. Cassie has always placed her career over a relationship; and Hunter’s deceased wife had cheated on him, leaving him to decide to never marry again. Both characters are likable and easy to empathize with. Hunter’s daughter, Polly, adds tenderness to the story. Hunter’s and Cassie’s families want to see them together, and I did too. The dialogue flows smoothly. The only thing that I didn’t care for in the book was that the proposal seemed rushed. I would like to have seen more development of their romantic relationship. I really like Debra Clopton’s writing voice and would not hesitate to pick up another of her books. I recommend this to readers of clean/wholesome romance and of small town romances. I received a complimentary copy. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this sweet romance.
I enjoyed this book about Cassie and Hunter and his young daughter Polly. All of them were recovering from traumatic experiences. When the daughter realized why the accident had happened to her, it really helped worries she and her father had. Cassie finally realized she was ready for new dreams after being a globetrotting photographer for several years. Polly talked more grown up than her age and kept saying things that made me laugh.
Longing for Us was a sweet story, full of heart. I liked the way Hunter and Cassie ended up not being able to keep their feelings from growing into love for each other, even though that was not what either one planned on. Hunter’s daughter, Polly, was as adorable as the last time we met her. It was fun to see her again, as she was introduced in Summer and Jonah’s story.
The last couple of chapters moved a little quickly for me, as Cassie and Hunter progressed from interest to love, however, I still enjoyed it. These books set in Sunset Bay are lots of fun to read and can be enjoyed as stand alone novels, as long as the reader keeps in mind that the books are about siblings finding their true loves, so there will be some character overlap.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This sweet, clean romance takes us back to Sunset Bay, and the Sinclair family. Little by little the siblings have been finding their soulmates and making Sunset Bay their home. Except Cassie. She’s a well respected photographer that takes risks in order to take the perfect picture. A fall that could have taken her life during a photo shoot, has her rethinking her future.
What better time to do it now that she’s back home for her brother’s Adam wedding.
Hunter Claremont , a widower with a young daughter, moved to Sunset Bay and joined the fire department recently to give his still traumatized daughter a better life.
When her family schemes to have Cassie take care of the young girl, the attraction between Hunter and Cassie is strong, but neither has a clear view of what “could be”. One is never in one place for a long time, while the other one isn’t sure he can love again.
Though I found the romance to be a little instant, it was a delightful story and one to enjoy in an afternoon of leisure.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
