I loved this series! It is a short series (only two books) but they are lovely. My husband and I read them together and we both loved them. Between periods when we were able to read, our conversations often went to the story and wondering what will happen. The characters are wonderful, the story is so good, the writing is lovely. I was deeply touched and loved this book!
Man, this one… I felt almost scarred by the end of this book because so many terrible things happened. It had hope and change come at the end, but it was just heavy. Good book that makes you think!
Katie had given up her dream of returning to Ireland to make a home in Hope Springs. The town is more divided than ever, and Katie’s heart is divided just the same. As winter approaches, decisions have to be made so that all can survive.
This book picks up where the first one ends, which made me glad I had it waiting on my shelf when I finished reading the first. I’d expected Katie’s story to be done, but it wasn’t. She has even more struggles ahead of her, and though she had made a decision in book one, her heart is not as certain as she thought.
The lowering temperatures make a stark contrast to the boiling hot tempers that clash in the town. Hatred burns ever stronger. It will take persistence on Katie’s part to find a way to soften some of the townspeople. It will also take something drastic to get through some of the more hardhearted townspeople who are set in their ways and views.
This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster. There were several times I almost cried for Katie.
For readers looking for an emotional read, this would be a good choice.
I’m a fan of Sarah Eden’s writing style–she is very talented. This book doesn’t disappoint! The struggle Katie faces in the Wyoming town of Hope Springs is vivid and full of emotion. The ignorant hatred that she dealt with and the grace with which she did is an amazing example. At the same time, I love her independent spirit and fiery nature with determination to overcome the odds against her. The love story is sweet and kept me turning pages to find out if Katie would choose Tavish or Joseph–both great men. If you’re looking for the perfect historical romance, this book fits the ticket!
I never, never, never delete a previous review, but this book deserved a rewritten, better review.
I read this one back in 2016, and I rarely ever enjoy a book better the second time than I do the first. The original time I read this, I liked it but didn’t love it. This go around, I loved it. My previous review didn’t do justice to this story. Perhaps because this is a different western romance than you find out there, and my expectations colored my perceptions.
Any book that keeps me craving to go back to it is a good book. Let me rephrase that…any book that keeps me craving to go back to it and doesn’t ruin it with a crappy ending is a good book. This was a series I had a hard time putting down.
I love the characters, love the plot, love the conflicts. I spent a good chunk of this book crying both happy and sad tears. It’s far more tragic than you usually see in romance novels, but it worked for the story and I’m glad the author didn’t pull any punches.
So, yeah. I thought it was okay during the first read, but this time, I really fell in love with the story.
