Saxon maiden Ellan watched her sister fall in love and marry a Dane. She finds herself longing for the same thing and she knows just the Dane she wants Aevir is a strong warrior but is marrying for duty and for position. He has worked hard for this opportunity and offers for Ellan to be his consort, something she refuses.
You could not help but feel bad for Ellan. She was a pawn and a commodity for her father as well as other men. What she wanted was not considered. And in fact was not important to the men in her life. Ellan, however, refused to be bartered and tried to change her life. Aevir is not out of the picture and feels some obligation to her.
Longing for Her Forbidden Viking has everything you need in a historical romance. We see life in the past where nothing is set in stone. There is danger and uncertainty as well as sweet kisses and loving romance. Harper St. George is a gifted writer who can combine all these elements and grace us with an amazing story, a story you will not want to put down.

My review :
Can love making up for rank and status?
This is my first read by Mrs Harper St George, her writing style flows smoothly and sucked me in her story.
Ellan is no damsel in distress, she might not have any fighting skill, she knows how to take care of herself and won’t faint when troubles occur.
When her sister is weary of Danes, she always admired them and does not fear them.
Despite growing up in the same household than her sister, her upbringing was completely different. All her young life, she felt the weight of her resemblance to her mother, the one who left with a Dane.
So when she first sights Aevir, she is instantly drawn to him, but it doesn’t mean she will let things go too far. So when he proposes a different understanding than what she might have hoped, she doesn’t know anything anymore.
Aevir battled to get to the position he is now, him the son of a slave. So when an offer to reach his goal is handed to him on a plate, he can refuse it, even for the sweet Ellan.
As he can get rid of their deep attraction, he suggest an involvement different from what she might expect but which will satisfy himself.
Aevir is a good man, he once loved and lost, so I do comprehended his own struggle to going through the same path again, plus he is no more the young man he was when he first fell in love. Now he is a renowned warrior with the door of success right in front of him. Ellan might disrupt everything he worked so hard to accomplish.
But his pull to her is so strong, he wonders where is the right path for him, until he faces a wall a must decide where his heart lays.
Ellan is such a wonderful woman, she has her dreams and hopes and won’t settle for nothing else. She fights her own battles with the depth of her soul. She even tried to find reason to “I love” him. If Aevir won’t marry her, she won’t resolve herself to less. She refuses to let basic laws and ever her heart decide for her. And whatever Aevir says, she doesn’t give up on them.
This way a great foray in the life of the inhabitants during these tumultuous times. Aevir and Ellan are two great characters with good heart and purposes on life. To them to find the right path, and Ellan is quite a stubborn one when Aevir obliviously knows where his heart is leading him.
5 stars!

Longing for Her Forbidden Viking is the second book in author Harper St. George’s “To Wed a Viking” series. After reading the first book in this series and loving it, I couldn’t wait to read Aevir and Ellan’s story. Both Aevir and Ellan made an appearance in the first book and there was a sense that there might be some feelings developing between them.
Ellan is a Saxon farm girl from the small village of Banford. She is staying in Alvey along with her sister Elswyth (who was the heroine in the first book in this series), at the request of Lady Gwendolyn. (Lady Gwendolyn along with her husband Vidar were in a previous series). Ellan doesn’t want to return to Banford, she would rather stay in Alvey even if it means marrying a Dane.
Aevir is a respected and renowned Dane warrior, a commander of men. He loved once before and vowed to never risk his heart again. To gain the lands and status he craves, a marriage to an unknown Saxon woman is to be arranged by the Jarl, Vidar.
When we first met Ellan in the first book in this series, she seemed like a carefree, frivolous young woman. Ms. St. George revealed a depth to Ellan in this story I didn’t know existed, and I have to admit I ended up loving her. She’s a smart, practical young woman who didn’t have a happy childhood. I admired her for sticking to her principles even though it was obvious she had feelings for Aevir and his offer was rather tempting! 😉 Aevir’s past weighs heavily on the choices he’s making for his future. He’s a handsome warrior and a leader of men, but his lack of land and title makes him agree to an arranged marriage to a high-born woman. But the attraction he feels for Ellan is overwhelming, something he’s not ever experienced with another. It takes him by surprise and he struggles with his feelings for her and the path he’s chosen for his life. I became invested in this couple early on and looked forward to seeing how Ms. St. George would get them over the obstacles in their way.
Harper St. George never disappoints in delivering a well-written story full of wonderful characters, suspense, intrigue, and a romance between two people who truly deserved a HEA. Although this story could definitely stand alone, I highly recommend reading the first book in this series and would also recommend checking out Ms. St. George’s previous Viking series, Viking Warriors. Longing for Her Forbidden Viking is a fabulous story and I look forward to seeing what Ms. St. George has for us next. Highly recommend this book and series!
Northumbria AD 872
Not all Saxons have been receptive to the invading Danes, but Ellan accepts the inevitability of the situation. She enjoys the peace they have brought to their little corner of the world. And some of them are very handsome indeed, such as Aevir, who immediately captivated her. He isn’t immune to her charms either, but it’s not so simple. Could Ellan be spying on the Norsemen for her father? It’s all moot because Aevir, a mercenary, craves power and there is nothing to gain from a marriage to a farmer’s daughter. Jarl Vidar has found the ideal bride for Aevir, the Danish warrior refuses to risk his heart again, but can he stand seeing Ellan foisted on a man she doesn’t want to marry when her heart already belongs to him?
Although LONGING FOR HER FORBIDDEN VIKING stands entirely on its own, it takes place immediately after Marrying Her Viking Enemy, where we had witnessed the attraction between Aevir and Ellan, and I couldn’t wait to see these two find their happily ever after, but it was far from smooth sailing. I usually despise when the hero offers the woman to become his mistress, but in the context, it worked well. Ellan is no wimp, and misguided fool that he is, Aevir means to help her, even if he is being a little selfish and stubborn in his beliefs.
Ellan is a fabulous heroine: she can think on her feet, she knows what she wants, she’s practical, and able to remain somewhat pragmatic even when she realises that Aevir might never be hers, but she doesn’t give up. Neither does she behave recklessly. Harper St. George possesses this incredible ability to put me at ease immediately, I trust her implicitly, and again she does not disappoint. Considering the difficulties I have had with several books recently, this is high praise indeed. I never second-guess her, I had no idea what to expect, and I was truly surprised at the turns the story took. I also very much appreciate that Ms. George tells a story of love and passion without reverting to endless sex scenes.
Harper St. George’s evocative prose transports you to a medieval world you can believe in. There is political intrigue, a romance that seems doomed from the start, wonderfully complex characters, and Ms. George weaves all these threads together in a splendid tableau. The dialogues feel natural, but it’s the intimate tone that prevails throughout the book that makes it such a unique reading experience. Make yourself comfortable, soak up the atmosphere and let Harper St. George sweep you away and savour every moment of this gorgeous romance.
