A haunted beauty inspires a Navy SEAL turned playboy bar owner to change his ways in this tender and sensual novel from the bestselling author of Hot Shot and the Heller Brothers series. Waitressing at a tequila bar on the beach in sunny San Diego may not be what Reece Kirkwell wants to do forever, but for now it’s perfect—other than the flashbacks to the tragedy she caused in Boston. And the … caused in Boston. And the fact that one of her bosses is a domineering, first-class manwhore who’s as stubborn as he is sexy. If he’d just listen to her, she could double his business. But it would also mean getting close to someone, and that’s a risk she can’t afford.
Cade Hardy’s partners at Conquistadors are like his brothers, but he’s the money man trying to keep them all afloat. To blow off steam, he’s been sleeping around a little. The last thing he needs is business advice from their crazy-hot new waitress. Cade can’t figure Reece out. She’s smarter than she lets on, and she doesn’t hide her disgust for his active sex life. But after he recognizes her PTSD symptoms, Cade is determined to save her . . . unless she saves him first.

They continue to butt heads but they soon find a common ground and find themselves embarking on a relationship that they are giving an end date too. When the truth and past come back to haunt Reese will Cade be enough and willing to be there in her time of need!
Great story!

I enjoyed reading this book. Reece is working at a San Diego Tequila Bar, Conquistador. She is hiding some secrets and her past. Cade, one of the owners is also hiding his past. The romance was predictable but I liked the characters and the restaurant setting. There were a few surprises. The book was a quick easy read and was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours. Enjoy
Long Shot is the third book in the Last Shot Novel series and is a good closure to the series! This book features the story of Cade Hardy, one of the 3 retired Navy SEALS who opened a Tequila Bar in San Diego.
Reese has been working for Conquistadors Tequila Bar for a couple months, and has seen the revolving door of women Cade has had one-night-stands with. Although unimpressed with his after-hours actions, she still knows he isn’t hard on the eyes. She is planning short-term employment at the bar, after experiencing and blaming herself for a tragedy that happened in New York, at the restaurant she worked for. She is a chef, and doesn’t want to get back into the kitchen, but wants to make sure Cade knows the menu is awful and they need to do something about it. She is fostering a dog, Jack, who is freaking adorable and a big part of this story!
Cade has been VERY upfront with the women he has “enjoyed”… letting them know it is a one-and-done type of thing. However, there seems to be a few who can’t quite understand that. He also has been suppressing his feelings for Reese because his fellow owners Marco and Beck have threatened him if he gets involved with any of the staff.
This HEA is full of heat, pain, secrets, sex, tears (I literally cried) and love! I am a huge fan of Kelly Jamieson and her writing style. Her books flow nicely and this one is a 2 person POV that is easy to follow! I loved this book and would fully recommend it!
Great read thanks

This is the third in the series – and I would highly recommend that you read them in order, as the story of the three men flows through each book, and the experience will be all the richer.
In this story, Cade, the behind the scenes man, gets to find that maybe, just maybe, he has been infected by the love bug too. It is fun watching him realise what is happening and trying to rationalise his feelings. He has a constant stream of women wanting a second date, yet new waitress Reece is all that he can think about. Her obvious knowledge beyond her job description, her criticism of the food, all get under his skin.
As we discover more about Reece and her past, we understand her behaviour far better. I love that she becomes friends with Carrie and Hayden, and works hard to help the bar succeed.
Super cute and very romantic ending – no spoilers here, read it and see!

Not my favorite of the series but a good read nonetheless! Reece and Cade took me a while to get invested in but getting glimpses of the characters from previous books kept me reading on.
Reece is a chef who had a bit of an incident that had her up and leave her old life behind to now be working as a waitress at a tequila bar. Reece’s true passion is in the kitchen though and when her bosses, especially Cade, are looking to improve their menu, Reece can’t keep her mouth shut about what a terrible job they’re doing. Cade finds Reece infuriating and annoying and he can’t stand that she keeps criticizing the bar food… then on the other hand, he can’t help the crazy attraction he has for her. Reece’s severe PTSD from her old life makes it difficult for her but when Cade steps in to offer his support, the two end up more than just boss and employee.
Reece and Cade just weren’t my favorite characters – I love Kelly Jamieson’s writing though and will definitely be checking out future books. Not being invested in the characters really made it easy to skim, so I found myself doing that a lot towards the beginning. There was so much detail about the food that I just wanted to get to the romance between Cade and Reece! I will say the ending makes it worth finishing.

I love this series! I’m sad to see it end but am happy to finally get to see the mighty womanizing Cade fall prey to love. Beck and Marco already found their HEAs with Hayden and Carrie but Cade is determined to keep up his wild ways with one night stands. Until Reese starts working at Conquistadors. He is instantly attracted but knows he shouldn’t act on it because he is her boss. But best laid plans and all that. She ends up being everything he never knew he wanted and turns out was also afraid he could never have. I just love them together! They heal each other and are simply perfect together ! I also love Jack; he’s an adorable surfing surprise!!
What an amazing story to wrap up this series with! Cade and Reece are awesome characters and I was cheering for them right from the start. Cade is the money man at Conquistadors. Sure he likes to blow off steam with the ladies but he’s committed to making the bar a success. That means dealing with the staff which includes the feisty new waitress Reece. Keeping his attraction to her in check is proving difficult especially when she challenges him at every turn. It’s clear she has secrets but uncovering them is hard until one day everything becomes obvious!
Put this one on the must read list. I highly recommend it.
Reese is a waitress. Just a waitress. She’s trying to get her life together after a devastating incident. Working at Conquistadors is helping her to do that. Now if she can just stay out of the kitchen and away from Cade, one of the owners.
Cade is the spreadsheet guy of the business. It’s his job to make the bottom line black instead of red and it’s been a real struggle. When their waitress keeps sticking her nose into things that are not a part of her job description he finds himself getting riled. He needs to be in control and he’s quickly learned that there is no control where Reese is concerned.
This was such a good book! I loved the interactions between this couple and even Reese’s dog Jack. There were so many different layers that needed to be unearthed as they moved forward from antagonistic boss and employee to lovers.
Reese’s character was broken and struggling so hard to find solid ground. I respected that she never gave up. She kept fighting to find peace. Cade had his own demons to battle and he recognized the same in Reese and offered her the support needed to help her step out of the darkness and into the light. He was protective and caring and even though a manho prior to Reese, he was never an a-hole about it.
This is fast paced and well written with secondary characters from previous books that didn’t dominate the story but added to it. The steam level is perfect and the epilogue will make you smile.
This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and Loveswept.
ARC – I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are hones
Reese is trying to build her life back up again.
Cade is trying to keep the “Conquistador” a success.
Whey these 2 collide, sparks fly.
Now they just have to decide if they have what it take to stay together.
Will they give love a chance ?
I loved the storytelling + the characters
The storytelling + the character’s build were awesome!
Cade Hardy has taken interest in his bar’s new waitress Reece, she is good at what she does, but sometimes she is a little too opinionated about what should be done at his bar, and it irks him more than a little. But there is also another side to her, one that she doesn’t want to reveal, but every once in a while a little of it slips out, and it’s caught his attention, enough that he wants to help her deal with whatever it happens to be… she on the other wants nothing to do with him. He knows she has seen him leave with random women, heard the rumors of his reputation, but he wants to show her that he can be a better man, if she will give him the chance. Now he just has to figure out a way to convince her to let him in, and accept his help!
Long Shot is an absorbing and steamy tale that will grab you from the first page, and hold you hostage until the last! As soon as I met these two I knew they were going to treat me to a good story, there was a lot of resistance there, and some evident sparks mixed in here and there, which could only mean one thing, things were destined to get hot at some point… and boy did they ever!! Along their journey things took a serious note too, one that tugged on my heartstrings, and stirred my emotions…overall it was a really pleasurable tale, one that is sure to linger with me for a while! Highly recommend this one, these two wonderfully crafted characters are sure to score a special place in your heart!!
I requested an advanced copy from NetGalley, and voluntarily read and reviewed.
It’s the final visit to Conquistadors the Tequila Bar owned by 3 guys who are more like brothers than friends and this is Cade’s story, Cade is the figure man in the partnership it’s his job to make sure the bar stays in the black and at times that’s been hard so he finds himself always looking for new ideas to up the profits. Reese is a new waitress and she is trying to put the past behind her and get her life back together but in order to do that she needs to stay away from Cade !!! Two people fighting their own demons, could it be they need each other to put their pasts to rest…….
I loved this series and I’m sad to see it come to an end , I love the characters, the storylines and this one in particular captivated me, this is a love story but it’s also Cade and Reese’s journey to find peace. This book is beautifully written and it’s told in the dual POV, I would say you can read this as a stand-alone but I think you would get so much more out of it if you have read the previous books.
4 Star Review of Long Shot (Last Shot #3) by Kelly Jamieson
This is the third and final book in the “Last Shot” series. It can be read as a stand alone but in my opinion to get the most enjoyment I would perhaps read the other two books first.
This is the story of Cade Hardy one of the partners at Conquistadors and the woman who has captured his attention, despite himself.
Reece Kirkwell is a woman running from a tragic past, the newest waitress at Conquistadors. She is feisty and not afraid to let Cade know how much his behaviour disgusts her.
Reece knows she can help turn the tequila bar into a raging success but is she prepared to get involved? Can she risk it?
As Cade and Reece get to know each other, lines will be crossed and life soon become complicated. The chemistry between Cade and Reece is intense and yet st times the romance was sweet and tender.
Will Cade and Reece be able to help each other overcome their fears? Or will they cut and run? One click to find out.
I enjoy Ms. jamieson’s style of writing and found the characters easy to relate to and Long Shot kept and held my attention.
I had read book 2 of this series, and even though ii was not one of my favorite books , I decided to give this series a second chance.
Maybe because I am a mature woman, but this no did not do it for me either.
I was never engaged in the plot, nor did I connect with Reece or Cade .
Did I skip some pages? Yes, but since I was determined to find out what secrets were being kept, I finished it.
Still, I respect the efforts and dedication of the author, and for that , I have given it a 3 star.
I was gifted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Loved this book! Reese is working as a waitress at a tequila bar. Even the owners can tell she is working no at a job that she is overqualified for. They just don’t realize how over qualified. Reese realizes the cook is over his head in trying to redo the menu & tries to help him behind the bosses back.
Cade is determined not to get serious about anyone. “One & done” is his motto. He doesn’t “do” relationships. He’s determined not to be hurt again. Reese confuses him. He’s interested in her but 3 things hold him back. 1. He can’t figure her out. 2. He doesn’t date employees. 3. He promised the other partners he’d leave her alone. Why is he drawn to her more & more despite those promises?
Kelly Jamieson writes about gritty characters in real life situations. The anxiety & emotions affecting Reese are the same that could affect anyone today & her reactions are the same. Reese was hurt before & says he won’t let his heart get involved again. The other employees & owners at the bar add extra dimension & flavor to the story. The interactions are realistic. Suggestive content, not vanilla.
