I absolutely love this book. It checked all of the boxes for me. Small town, wonderful friendships, slow burn romance and one nasty ex girlfriend. I totally related to Hailee and her self-confidence and low self-image issues. Being a single mom of a darling 2 yr old Elijah, she doesn’t feel worthy or attractive enough for a good man. Then Drake walks into her life. Their attraction is pretty instantaneous, but Drake takes his time because he knows Hailee can’t be rushed into a serious relationship. Ladies, we all need a little Drake in our lives. He is one of the sweetest, patient, thoughtful and unselfish male characters ever! But don’t think this means there is no fire between these two. Their relationship is a slow burning flame and when they finally come together physically, it’s HOT!
The best friend characters of Madelyn and Jaxson are wonderful too. So supportive of their friend’s budding relationship and big shoulders to cry on when needed. I’ll definitely be reading their story entitled Supernova.
Of course, no story is complete without a nasty ex showing up. In this case, it’s Friend’s former girlfriend, Angie who makes Hailee’s life miserable. What a piece of work she is!!
Wonderful book!!
First time read for me by this author and this book was brilliant and I will definitely be reading more from this author. Good storyline and characters x
I enjoyed this story so much. It was the perfect small town romance. I fell in love with Drake. I could of kept reading his and Hailee’s story all day long!
Sweet ‘n Romantic quick read
My first read from Kate Stacy, this sweet insta-love book is great for those who love this trope, or for anyone who is looking for a great palate cleanser between normal heavier or darker reading. Whatever motivates you to read the sweeter insta love type of romance, I think you’ll fully enjoy this one.
Hailee is a single hardworking mother, and Elijah, at about three is her gorgeous little man. We meet her at the start to her day, where it quickly turns to poos when her best friend announces he is getting married. Grayson has never had a serious girlfriend before, hell, Hailee didn’t even think this one was serious! But it seems he is, and the unrequited love that she has kept to herself needs to be put to rest – quietly.
Madalyn is Hailee’s other best friend, and knows about those inconvenient feelings that Hailee has for Gray and prescribes tequila and a night out. She absolutely has Hailee’s back and for this, and her dirt track sense of humour, I just love her character!!!! Cue in the gorgeous Drake, who is a unicorn in sexy skin and southern accent, and oh my, Ms Stacy has the whole Alpha Male thing going on, where Drake is set to claim the woman who has drawn his interest like no other. He easily admits his parents didn’t provide a stable and loving family home, that his grandfather was everything to him, and, he wants someone to love entirely and to build a family with *swoony sigh*
Just what can go wrong???? Nothing really, except a manipulative lying and cheating ex-girlfriend who preys on the insecurities of Hailee. I have to admit, the way she initially dealt with things left me less than impressed, but, she’s not my character, and she had a lot of personal baggage to sort. Loved the book, and I’m rapt to see that there will be more to follow, specifically Madalyn and her sisters. 4 Stars.
This is a new author to me, and I will certainly be looking out for her work in the future. Drake and Hailee’s story is beautifully written with engaging characters, with an unbreakable bond, and is a realistic, sweet, and heart-warming story which had me hooked throughout. I recommend for all.
This is the first book that I have read from this writer. Just wow. I absolutely loved this one. Had it not been for work I would have read it in one setting. I absolutely loved the storyline and the characters. I absolutely love Hailee. Her character is so strong no matter what she goes through and believe me when I say she goes through a lot in this storyline. But it is a heart warming emotional storyline with her and Drake that you are going to want to read. Hailee has gone through hell and back. She is very self conscious of herself and has not put herself out there since she moved to town. Her best friend someone she believes she loves more than she should just dropped some major news on her. She calls for a night to forget with her bestie Mads. During this night she meets Drake and there is instant chemistry. This is also the night that changes everything for Hailee. But will it end up being a good change or a bad change? I love the chemistry between Hailee and Drake. This was a great storyline with two amazing characters. This is a great book from beginning to end.
4*
Hailee meets Drake at her friends Madalyn and Jaxon’s get together she’s in need of a night of fun been a single mum & hearing the best friend she thinks she loves is getting married.
I loved that Drake was totally protective of her and wanted the best for her.
Hailee certainly hadn’t had it easy but was willing to try.
The friendship between them was great and I’m pleased Jaxon & Madalyn story will be told next “supernova”

This story was a really enjoyable homely book. The characters are great and they keep you gripped, I absolutely love Hailee friend Madalyn she is so funny and sassy in this story, she is definitely a good best friend. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I loved the organic feel to this contemporary romance. From the characters to the situations, the entire story feels realistic.
The characters are likable and engaging, making it easy to get hooked on their story. Hailee lacks self-assurance but she is a strong, single mom. Her dedication to improving herself and her situation is admirable. I loved that she wasn’t looking for a handout from either the state or a wealthy boyfriend. Drake is a good-looking guy and a loyal friend. His compass points true north. He is portrayed as an atypical trucker, and Ms. Stacy really makes her readers feel like they can trust Drake.
The dialogue is realistic and the relationship develops mostly organically with the help of friends pushing them together after Hailee has a tragic loss. I didn’t care for Drake’s insta-protectiveness, but that has become de rigueur for contemporary romance. Fortunately, he also sees that Hailee is a strong woman who can take care of herself, which allows him to graciously offer assistance without acting like a Neanderthal.
Long Road Home is sweet and to the point. The descriptive sex scenes neither added nor detracted from the story. The little angst in the story was created by a crazy ex-girlfriend. Further development of that storyline would have beefed up the content and tension leading to the zenith. However, it is easy for the reader to discern that the conflict will not lead to much, and the resolution is a bit anticlimactic.
Read Long Road Home for the engaging characters, a sweet love story and a realistic happily-ever-after ending.
3.5 stars

Hailee is a single mom to a 2 year old little boy Eli. Hailee has spent the last few years thinking she is in love with her best friend Grayson (Gray) whom is engaged to another woman, During a Fourth of July BBQ Hailee meets an OTR Truck driver Drake and for Drake it’s love at first site, Hailee goes home to find her apartment building burned down, and Drake steps up and their love blooms from there. This is a sweet love story, with really well written characters, the story drags you and keeps you there with it. I would really recommend this story
