USA Today & Amazon Top Ten best-selling author Harloe Rae delivers an emotional enemies-to-lovers romance where a sassy single mom and a reclusive mechanic battle it out with their hearts on the line. This swoony standalone novel is sure to give you all the feels!“Everyone deserves a chance to be rescued.”That’s the mantra I’m repeating when a well-equipped biker pulls over to save me. One … biker pulls over to save me. One glance at the scowl Crawford Doxe is wearing proves he isn’t impressed with the task. My efforts to change his mind deflate faster than the shredded tire at our feet. But disgruntled or not, my so-called hero still agrees to fix my flat.
I don’t expect to see Crawford again, but he’s suddenly very visible in our small town. Avoiding him would be my preference. That’s not how this story goes. For whatever reason, my daughter finds an ally in the broody mechanic. Denying her is something I do my best to avoid. I can only hope Crawford’s shine wears off before he tarnishes what little trust still exists.
As if the odds are ever on my side.
Commitments are a foreign concept to him. He doesn’t make any promises to try. That should’ve been enough for me to steer clear. It most certainly isn’t.
What follows can only be described as a disastrous clash of epic proportions.
But one indisputable fact remains. That lone soul has no plans of opening his heart.

I love everything about this story.
Two very different people and a couple of chance meetings turn into an incredible love story. It wasn’t exactly easy for Ford and Kee, both are dealing with the own issues and insecurities but their HEA is absolutely worth the read.
Harloe Rae roped me in right from the get go with her newest book Loner. A gorgeous small town, enemies-to-lovers romance with plenty of angst.
Keegan is the strong protective mama bear, but as a single mother she has to be. Her daughter Millie has the most adorable and lovable personality, I absolutely loved her character! After a terrible track record with men, Keegan is cautious with love and keeps walls built up around herself.
Ford is the hot, broody motorcycle mechanic who keeps to himself, a loner. He doesn’t connect well with others, which makes his bond with Millie all the more sweet!
This one comes with off the charts chemistry between our hero and heroine. A beautifully written story
I really enjoyed this story great character development and world building. I loved little Millie she was a cute little lady. The chemistry between Ford and Keegan was off the charts. I would recommend
The author is new to me and this story blew me away! I definitely want to read more of her work now! Its amazing when you read a first book and it draws you in and you just don’t want the book to end! When Keegan and her daughter Millie move to a small town she doesn’t count on meeting a certain hot knight on a bike!
There is certainly a beautiful relationship between Keegan and her daughter, doing her utmost to give her a wonderful life! I admired her for that as well as how cautious she was towards men!
With her best friend Josey by her side, needless to say this book has it all! Drama, heartfelt moments, steamy scenes, great banter and some sadness as well!
I loved the whole story! It captivated me!
Who wouldn’t want to be near Crawford when he looks like he does?!!! Oh my….!!! But he has his own demons and when push comes to shove who will win in the end??
Riveting, intriguing and entertaining!! Go 1 click!
I was pulled into this book from the moment I started reading it. It has a lot of emotions and feelings and I loved every moment of it. I laughed, cried and felt everything the characters did.
4.5 Cranky Stars
I always know when I pick up a Harloe Rae book I’m in a for a heroine who can take care of herself and an alpha male with issues. In the case of Loner, we have Keegan a single mother who is trying to make a new life for herself back in Silo Springs and Crawford a reclusive motorcycle mechanic who doesn’t believe in happily ever after. He wasn’t expecting Keegan and Millie to crash into his life, but he finds that maybe commitment isn’t so bad. Keegan just hopes that she doesn’t have to add Crawford to her list of failed relationships. She also hopes too that Millie doesn’t get her heart broke because Crawford is the first person outside her immediate circle that she talks to. Hopefully the anti hero becomes just who these two need in their life.
I really liked Crawford he was rough and abrasive but if you’ve met his father you’d know why. I seriously wanted to beat this man up. Yep I was mentally inflicting violence on an imaginary man. I liked that Keegan was cautious because when you have a child involved you need to be. She was kind of a helicopter mom and really didn’t take time for herself. She almost seemed like being a mother was her only identity. I feel yes you are a mom but you don’t end there you can go out and have dinners with friends and take vacations without your kiddos. I’m glad we got to see Crawford grow and hopefully mend fences with his brother Grant. Loner is a good sweet romance with no ex whatever drama but sinfully sexy at the same time. Harloe Rae is great at small town romances I always know I’m going to enjoy whatever book she puts out.
Keegan is returning to her hometown with her young daughter Millie when she has a flat tire. A guy on a bike stops to help and it will change all their lives. Ford is a grumpy mechanic that likes being on his own doing things his way. Keegan is trying to raise her daughter and has no plans to get involved with a man. Millie takes an instant liking to Ford so that means Keegan will have to find a way to get along with him. The scenes between Millie and Ford are so precious and I loved them. Keegan and Ford have chemistry when they both let their guards down. A recommended read.
Keegan’s not looking for a man, not to come to her rescue, not to date, nope. She’s done with men after having been hurt by them one too many times. All she’s focused on now is her daughter, Millie. So when a rude grump of a man helps her when she has a flat, she’s not exactly open to the gorgeous stranger. Until he helps her with her daughter, then that swoon factor about undoes her. What single mom wouldn’t fall for a man who bonds so sweetly with her daughter? But Ford has told her anything they start can’t be labeled. He doesn’t do commitment or relationships. Will Keegan be able to keep her heart out of it or will Ford walk away with it when he leaves her and Millie?
Ford is one swoony man, let me tell you. He covered that generous heart with a layer of anti-social, but inside he is 100% Grade A sweetheart. The way he was with Millie melted my heart and made me forgive all his grumpy rudeness. Pair him with sassy pants Kee and adorable Mills and I dare say this ended up being Harloe’s best story to date. I love these three adorable characters who found love with each other.

Loner is a full length standalone novel by Harloe Rae. Although this can be read as a complete standalone there are other books in the world of Silo Springs that you need to get acquainted with.
A enemies to lovers, small town romance with a single mum heroine and a broody, grumpy hero. Ford and Keegan gave me all the feels. I really loved this story. It was sweet, sexy and with Keegans little girl, Millie it was pretty stinking adorable.
I have read a few other books by Rae and she never disappoints with her story’s. This is definitely a MUST read.
ARC kindly provided for an honest review.
3 stars!
I saw the cover of this book, and read the blurb and I had to have it. Enemies to lovers and biker was all I needed to hear.
I absolutely love all the men in this book. And I also love the shit out of Millie. Crawford is one broody alpha and we all know I have a thing for those types!! I didn’t care for Keegan much but her friend Joe is just my type of friend.
I wanted to love this book so hard but it lost me a lot. The heroin got my last nerve and I just felt like these two were very immature and kind of petty. Just felt like we weren’t going anywhere. My favorite parts in the book were actually Millie and Ford. I loved their interaction and the ending was beautiful.
I will say the sexy times in this book were very hot!! Nice, quick read.
Ford and Keegan
I was so excited to get my hands on this book. It has some of my favorite tropes.
*enemies to lovers
*small town
*single parent
Harloe Rae didn’t disappoint. She delivered an amazing story. Ford and Keegan were both great characters. Ford the sexy, motorcycle riding, reclusive mechanic and Keegan the sassy and sweet single mom were destined to fall for each other. Ford is a loner. He’s been beaten down emotionally by his father which has left him wary of society. Keegan is new to town and is trying to find a new norm for herself and daughter Millie. Millie was a breath of fresh air. She’s a quiet child and only gives her words to a few people. Ford comes to the aid of Keegan and Millie when they have a flat tire. With his broodiness and abrasive personality it is hate at first sight. These two were fighting their attraction so hard you knew they were bound to end up in bed and it would be explosive.
This story was a hit for me because all the characters were relatable. I was thoroughly entertained. The writing and storyline kept me engaged and I had to know how everything would end. One of my favorite things in this story was the healing hugs.
Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.
I was so impressed with this book. I have read two of Harloe Rae’s previous books and while I enjoyed them, it felt like there was something missing. With this book, I was floored from the beginning. This book ticked off all the boxes that I need in a contemporary romance.
One of the things that I have always loved about Rae’s books is her beautiful storytelling. She has a writing style that will just sweep you away. Her narration is so inviting and her writing voice really speaks to me. She really puts together a great story from start to finish. I was drawn to these pages like a moth to a flame.
Like with the writing style, these characters really spoke to me. I felt that they were immediately likable and relatable. I was seamlessly transported into their story. These characters had lots of depth and some wonderful character growth. I really loved seeing some of the characters from Breaker and Keeper. I think that the secondary characters really balanced out the story well and gave it more depth.
This was such a swoon-worthy romance. This starts off as an enemies-to-lovers romance and it really sizzles. I loved the banter and sassy back and forth between Keegan and Ford in the beginning. The had such explosive chemistry that didn’t disappoint. I really loved the evolution of their romance.
Overall, this is a story that will take a little piece of you with it. Once you surrender yourself over to these characters there is no going back. This is a book that I wholeheartedly recommend. If you love single parent or enemies-to-lovers romances then you’ll be thrilled with this one. I really hope that Harloe Rae writes more books with these characters. After reading this book, I am so curious about Grant and Josie!
Single Mom | Reclusive Hero Romance
Harloe Rae has written another swoony read with Loner and I loved her take on the “reclusive hero.” Ford stole my heart the moment I met him in the book. I felt like I had a great understanding oh his character from the beginning and the connection built from there! Having a hero feel so REAL is a must in romance books and Ford was that man for me. Sigh.. I miss him already and I literally just finished the book!
Keegan is a great heroine and I loved how she was instantly attracted to Ford even though he had zero interest in any companionship. He was so closed off from the world that her couldn’t see what possibilities stood before him. But Keegan was good for him and slowly broke down his walls (and really vice versa) and it was breathtaking to watch! I love a damaged hero, I love a heroine I can relate to, and these two were perfect for this story! I’m not even surprised because Harloe Rae is wonderful at bringing her characters together despite everything standing in their way. She has a nice flair for it!
If you’re looking for romance that will steal your heart I recommend this one to you! I can’t wait for more already!

Loner checked off a lot of my boxes:
Strong, Independent Single Mom
Broody, misunderstood Loner Hero
Small Town
Adorable, Sassy Kid
Pushy, but Well Meaning Best Friend
Keegan and Ford get off on the wrong foot, which makes the push and pull, and the rising tension, between them both funny and painful.
I absolutely loved Ford’s connection with Millie, Keegan’s daughter, and how well he understands her. Their friendship is super sweet.
Loner is another hit you right in the feels read by Harloe!
This book checked so many of my boxes: enemies-to-lovers, small town, single mom. The characters are awesome! Ford is broody and Keegan is sassy. Their chemistry is explosive from the get go but they do not get along. They are explosive in and out of the bedroom. It takes an adorable little girl, Millie, who doesn’t give up to get them to get to know each other and lower their walls. It’s not an easy journey for any of them but the HEA is sweet. It will definitely pull on your heart strings. I really loved the appearance of the other Silo Springs characters: Grady and Sutton (Breaker) and Decker and Delaney (Keeper).
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
When I found out this book was coming, I was definitely HERE for it! The minute I opened it, I got lost in the world that Harloe Rae put together and I am still recovering from it. Crawford and Keegan will maneuver their way into your heart and refuse to budge once they’ve reached it.
Harloe put together an emotional romance that pulls every single heart-string and refuses to let go. From the moment the book begins to the very last word, you are drawn into a story that will bring you to your knees. You are right there as Harloe weaves together a story for the ages as you are brought in to each and every single moment.
Crawford, Keegan and Millie are perfection that can’t be matched.
Five stars for this enemies to lovers small-town romance that will have you feeling every emotion, keeping you hooked in the entire time.
LONER is the story of a reclusive man named Crawford (Ford) Doxe and his reluctant love affair with a single mom named Keegan Daniels. Ford also became quite attached to her adorable, young, selectively mute daughter named Millie. Ford didn’t use many words either, so they just “got each other.” He was a very reluctant knight in black leather on his motorcycle, that rides in to save the day twice.
Keegan had fled with Millie from her last disastrous relationship to the sleepy little town named Silo Springs. Where everyone was super nice. This is where they first meet their knight in chrome armor who rescued them with his impressive tire-changing skills. Ford was owner of a garage that worked exclusively on motorcycles. His garage and home were nestled between the middle of nowhere, so Ford could live separated from society. He rarely left his compound. People called him a recluse, a loner, and they were right. His life was going to chance with the arrival of the beautiful Keegan and her cute daughter Millie. Even Ford’s anti-friendly dog Patch, would become attached to this mother/daughter team. Also this book is filled with all those healing hugs. I think hugs is what this world is missing most during this Coronavirus Pandemic. Hugs are the best medicine.
This book’s hero has a lot of issues that he must overcome. He must right a lot of wrongs and beg for forgiveness. Ford will have to face his largest demon. He would like to just slay the dragon, but finally saying his piece will have to suffice. All of this in order to have a Happy-Ever-After with his queen and princess child. With the possibility of an everlasting love. I enjoyed this story and highly recommend to read.
Loner is a sweet single mother, small town romance. I love the town of Silo Springs and all the wonderful people that come along with it. Ford and Keegan are an unlikely pair that are perfect for each other.
Ford didn’t realize how is life would be turned upside down when he steps in and helps Keegan when she needs a mechanic. Keegan and Millie bury themselves so deep into Ford that he doesn’t know what to do. He’s used to being on his own, being a loner is what he likes. The push and pull relationship that they had was amazing to read it about.
Ford and Keegan’s book is beautifully written with amazing characters. Rae captures the strong of being a single parent perfectly. Keegan doesn’t just have herself to look after, she has Millie too. She knows that if things go south she is not the only person losing Ford. Even knowing that she can’t help the pull she feels towards Ford. Ford had a lot of issues he needed to work through. He was a frustrating man to read. I wanted to shake the sense into him most of the time.
I loved the plot and characters, but there was just something missing for me. I’m not absolutely sure what that something is, but it stopped me from giving Loner 5 stars.
MY NEW CONTEMPORARY FAVORITE FOR 2020!!!
Title: Loner
Author: Harloe Rae
Designation: An Enemies-to-Lovers Standalone, #ContemporaryRomance, #Full-Length, #NoCliffhanger #SiloSprings #myfavoritetrope
My Rating: Five Swoony Stars
OMG! Loner is the bomb! I loved this book so hard! I’d never even heard of Author Harloe Rae until a few days ago but after a glowing recommendation from a friend, I decided to take the leap and purchase Loner. Best decision ever! I fell head over heels for handsome, swoony, bad boy protagonist Crawford Doxe, aka Ford. Oh, this man! He was such a Grumpy Gus! There were times I wanted to bop him upside the head or strangle him, and then there were times I wanted to wrap my arms around him and smother him with comforting hugs. Ford was surly, grouchy, churlish, sullen, defensive, uncommunicative and, at times, downright unpleasant to be around. But underneath all those prickly protective layers, he concealed a heart of gold. His kind nature was witnessed only by a very select few. But for 6-year-old Millie and beautiful single mother Keegan, aka Kee, our grumpy bad boy began to shed his lonely life of isolation. Oh lawd, it was such a tough journey with Ford kicking and screaming all the way, but Keegan was just the woman for the job! What do I even say about Keegan? She was such a delight – kind, loyal, smart, sweet, saucy, feisty, beautiful, loving, and an exceptional mother to 6-year-old Millie. And Millie – well, that little girl just stole my heart. Her blossoming relationship with Ford brought tears to my eyes. Though Ford was reluctant to communicate with anyone, his interaction with shy Millie was so heartwarming. If you enjoy an exceptionally well written contemporary romance, a realistic conflict, a cast of highly relatable characters, a hero and heroine with more than their share of emotional baggage, a splash of angst, and a liberal sprinkling of humor, then this is definitely the book for you.
Did I enjoy this book? I think I’ve already answered this question but just to be clear, I loved it! Will I read this author again? Definitely! As a matter of fact, as soon as I finished Loner, I raced back to Amazon and purchased Breaker and Keeper, two other Harloe Rae books which I believe are also based on characters in Silo Springs. Would I recommend it? Definitely, but only for adult readers since it does contain profanity (not a lot, as in every sentence, but some) and explicit (steamy dreamy) sex scenes. I’m 70 years young and pretty darn selective with what and whom I read, and even more discriminating with my reviews these days, but this book definitely deserved my review and 5 star rating. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! Well done, Harloe Rae! I’m a new fan but you’re now officially on my one-click list.
Well, that’s it. I am in love with Ford!! Millie too! This book of a slow burn love between a surly loner and a spiky, suspicious relationship-phobe is just a complete joy and page turner. Keegan is wary and independent, as well a wonderfully snarky woman, while Ford’s reclusiveness makes him intriguing. I rarely develop a book boyfriend crush but colour me a crumpled mess where he is concerned !
With a story that revolves strongly around characters, this is a lovely read which has made my summer brighter
