She needed a fresh start… upon anyone. The pain of losing it all is still too fresh. Not to mention, in Ram’s world, the women submit themselves body and soul.
He wasn’t looking for love…
Former Army Ranger, Ramsey O’Malley, is not looking for a long-term commitment from a woman beyond a scene or two at Club Underworld. He doesn’t have the time nor the inclination to begin something he cannot finish, not as a single dad with a thriving psychology practice. Except, he is drawn to his newest patient. She’s forbidden, like the apple in the garden of Eden, and all he wants to do it take a bite.
But they could not deny their desire…
When Sadie makes a surprise appearance at Club Underworld looking to take a walk on the wild side, Ram knows he cannot let another man have her. He wants to be the one to introduce her to submission. But can he convince her to submit? And will just one night be enough?
Publisher’s Note: This steamy contemporary romance contains elements of power exchange.

This is one hot, spicy & emotional romance!
I honestly loved this book!
Sadie thought she had her PTSD under control but when the patient she was trying to help save ending up dying, she realized that she really didn’t. When the doctor on duty tells her she needs to take some time off and see someone before she can come back to work, she’s angry… at first but then she sees that he’s probably right. Enter in Ram, the psychologist she was referred to and things get very interesting. Ram is a strong man with his own issues and he’s also a Dom who sees that maybe Sadie might be submissive. However, they both have to learn to trust each other and let them into their life.
This is the first book in the Crescent City Kings deals with the BDSM lifestyle and it’s many, many variations so if that’s not for you don’t read this book.

Great Story
Sadie survived the accident that killed her parents and her husband, she has moved to New Orleans and is doing ok until she loses a patient in ICU that left a little girl without family. Ram is a therapist but also a Dom and was recommended as a therapist for Sadie.
Sadie’s life was turned up side down when she was the lone survivor of a crash that took her parents and husband. Moving away to a new city was her way of starting over again but when an incident in ICU triggered a PTSD episode she was sent again to therapy which sent her on a healing journey that she never would have imagined. Ram has had his own problems and taking Sadie in as a favor should have been simple until he met her and her mannerism pulled at the DOM in him. This story will draw you in and have you cheering Sadie on to get a fresh start with a happily ever after.
What a great book. This book was entertaining from start to finish. Another great book by Anya. I loved the characters – Anya did a great job building the characters into people you love. Only negative thought and it’s slight is I like a lot more BDSM in my books – but this book is really worth the read. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
This story is wonderfully written and deals very well with the very real issues of PTSD. I loved the characters Sadie and Ram are perfect for each other no matter how many issues they have between them! This is a story that is full of emotions and sometimes I felt I was on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading it. A brilliant book.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Sadie Montgomery and Ramsey O’Malley. While at work on night at Saint Mary’s Hospital in the ICU ward Sadie has a patient come in. The woman on the table doesn’t make it and that isn’t uncommon for her profession it is what one of the other nurses says that sends her into a tail spin. She makes the comment that the 3 year old little girl is now the lone survivor that just took her entire family. Sadie knows she has PTSD from her own incident with being the sole survivor in a car wreck. That is is just part of her issues though and most days she has no problem, this night was different though. So the doctor on duty sends her to a friend to help her and tells her she must take 2 weeks off and as soon as he signs off she is able to return to full duties. Ramsey doesn’t typically take patients during the summer but for a friend he agrees to meet this person. One look at Sadie and the dom in him stands up a little straighter. He knows where the line must be drawn between patient and submissive, but what is that is what is needed? The more they get to know one another the more they want to. Will these two find a true HEA or will the past cloud the future for both of them and ruin everything?
This is another amazing story by this author. It will send you through and emotional ringer that I want to tell you all about. However I don’t want to ruin the story for any other reader. I will say everyone has dealt with one form of grief over losing someone or another. This book will give you an outlet to maybe let a few of those residual feelings out that you didn’t know needed to come. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
Exploring alternative therapy for PTSD
Lone Survivor is the first book in the new Crescent City Kings series by Anya Summers. I really found this book sucked me in from the beginning to the end. Sadie is a woman that needs to start again after losing everything in an car accident. Just one strange set of circumstances and her whole world was blown apart in the blink of an eye. So she moves from Seattle to The Big Easy, New Orleans. For the most part is is strong enough to get through each day and do her job as an ICU trauma nurse. But one day there is an car accident that mirrors her what happened to her and she suffers. She must then see a counselor and that is when she meets Dr. Ramsey O’Malley, aka Ram.
Ram works with vets who experience PTSD and understands it better than most as he suffers from it himself. But Ram has another side to him that allows him an outlet in the form of an exclusive BDSM club named Underworld, which he owns with a few other friends. He accepts Sadie as a new patient but she learns of the club she is interested and soon they encounter each other there. He does not want her there but once they talk and Sadie explains what she wants he is willing to help her explore but not as her doctor.
Both Sadie and Ram are flawed which makes their characters much more fascinating to me. As I read more of their exploration, where both work through different emotions, it became more interesting on several levels.
There were a few things that I did take issue with and one was some of the wording that the author used. There were also a couple story points that I scratched my head at and just had to roll my eyes. But overall I thought the story was well written and look forward to the next book in The Crescent City Kings series if the quality is the same or better.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters were interesting. Sadie is a trauma nurse, she lost her parents and her husband in a car accident left her distraught, she needed to get away so she packed up and moved. She worked one day and a lone survivor came in after a fatality, that brought back bad memories, a doctor told her to go and see Ram.
Thank you for you allowing me to review your book.

This is a very intense start to what looks like another great series by this author. ICU trauma Nurse Sadie Montgomery was the lone survivor of a car accident that killed not only both her parents but her husband as well. Not coping well and looking for a new start someplace without all the memories Sadie picks a place on the map and moves herself to New Orleans from Seattle. A car accident in which only a small child is the lone survivor triggers a massive flashback experience. The Doctor she works with makes her take time off from work and will not let her return until after she has gotten herself some help and therapy to deal with the trauma. Enter Dr. Ramsey O’Malley, Psychiatrist. The heat between the two of them is instantaneous but is forbidden between a doctor and patient. Ram is not looking for a relationship and meets his needs at Club Underworld. He doesn’t have the time for a relationship between his practice and being a single dad. However, best laid plans always seem to fail when fate steps in.
Sadie decides to take a walk on the wild side and ends up at Club Underworld which truth be told is an alternative lifestyle club (BDSM). She runs into Ram and life takes them on an roller coaster of ups and downs as they try to come to grips with the way they feel. Sadie isn’t sure she can be the submissive that Ram needs and he isn’t sure she can be either. To tell you how they work it out would spoil the fun. Let’s just say that the author does not leave anything to the imagination and the elements of power exchange are true to life. This is a great start to a new series and I can’t wait for the next one.

What is so well done about this book is just this, Ms. Summers compels me through her words and plot-twists to care a great deal about the two main characters, Sadie Montgomery, ICU Nurse and Ramsey O’Malley former Army Ranger and co-owner of Club Underworld. This book is beautifully written and engaging with good character development and plot-line. You can feel the emotions like you were there with them. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone that likes a little bit of BDSM.

Ive read almost all of Anya Summers books and have not found one book that I’ve disliked so far..
Not only are the books panty melting hot and full of sexual scenes….oooh boy….the story of Sadie and Ram will be taking you on a emotional journey that will have your heart breaking and rejoicing too.
Ram is a psychologist with a successful practice and no time for a relationship or time to commit to a woman….he has all his sexual needs fulfilled by visiting Club Underworld and the submissives.
But once Sadie walks into his practice his dominant side comes forward and wants to make her his…..but that would be against all rules…….the night Sadie shows up in Club Underworld all the rules are tossed away and Ram proceeds to teach and show Sadie that submitting to him will bring her pleasure…..and some pain….

This book was sooo good…so delicious….with such a range of emotions….tragedy, regret, love…smoking hot love…
Sadie is a nurse with PTSD from a family tragedy and a recent transplant to New Orleans. After a particularly bad episode, she is put on medical leave and referred to a friend’s psychologist…Ram. The connection and attraction between the two is undeniable and when Sadie realizes what may help her PTSD, Ram insists on being her mentor and Master on the lifestyle she thinks she needs to be a part of. While honesty might be part of the lifestyle, Ram and Sadie are keeping things from each other and this might be the ultimate downfall of what could be a wonderful romance.

A riveting, emotionally deep, and intriguing read! This is a well written, well developed, flawless, and consistent read. So much happened in this book – dealing with pain after loss, PTSD, BDSM, acceptance, healing, and moving on. The characters are strong and the chemistry between them is potent and off the charts. Quite an enjoyable read and I strongly recommend it.

This book had me inn tears so many times that I was glad I was reading it at home Tears on public transport isn’t a good look
Sadie Montgomery may be still alive but emotionally she is dead She lost her parents and her husband in a car accident in Seattle she was the lone survivor. Now she intends to start her life over and a pin in a map has her living in New Orleans She is a trauma nurse and she is struggling on that is until,a MVA comes into her ER a family is killed with one lone survivor This is so much like history repeating itself that it causes her to have a meltdown. The doctor she is working with recognises that she needs help and recommends Dr Ram O’Malley he is a doctor who works with vets suffering from PTSD he recognises it in Sadie after all he suffers from it as well. When a connection starts to develop between them and she takes a interest in his BDSM lifestyle he will need to move her to another doctor so they can see if they can form a relationship Do they have a future together and can they help one another heal You will have to read to see
This book gave me all the feels, and pretty much got me out of a really bad reading funk. I absolutely loved the story of Sadie and Ramsey and their journey toward their own HEA. There is some heartache involved, but it all works out in the end. Throw in the BDSM aspect and I was madly in love with this story. I’m really excited for this whole series!
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Just from the title and teaser, I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. OMG!!! This is probably one of the most heartbreaking, heartwarming stories I’ve read, and I’ve read thousands of books. Having lived over half my life in the south, close to New Orleans, automatically gave me a feeling of affinity with the world Anya Summers created. Then when you get to know Sadie and Ram, well, they both have enough of a flawed personality they become totally relatable. Add in the side characters and the entire cast just brings the story to life. I’m REALLY, REALLY hoping we get to read about the other founders of the BDSM club. Are you reading this Anya?? Congratulations I was given a copy of this book and am proud to give my honest and voluntary five star review.
