This book is book #1 in the Calamity Valley Series.
It is the story of Molly and Saul.
Molly had tried leaving her hometown in Calamity Valley six years ago. She was seeking adventure. Now she is back in Hopeless to get over a string of disappointments and her failed engagement.
Saul had a personal discovery which caused him to walk away from his home and family. He has arrived in Texas to lie low and let the complications calm down. He gets to Hopeless, and gets the feeling he has been brought there by unknown forces.
Wondering if he should just turn around and walk back out, Saul is instantly drawn to the “sparky” Molly. As soon as Molly sees Saul, she is trembling. She has never seen a more powerfully attractive male. Saul agrees to stay and build the roof on Molly’s hacienda. The attraction between the two is instant, and the both work hard to keep it at bay. As they start to know each other more, the feelings start to build on their own.
What is Molly not telling him about the “crazy Mackillop women”? What is Saul keeping to himself about his family and the seemingly “just as crazy but different” Sally Opal?
I am excited to read the rest of the series since this first book was so good. I enjoyed the build up of attraction between Molly & Saul and how everything with them turned out. I also enjoyed Molly’s Mom, Marie, and her Grandmother, Alice.
I love Saul Solomon just let me say that from the start what a hero he is so protective, caring and loving and gorgeous and then we have Molly, quirky loving helpful and so very caring as well and these two are made for each other, they have both been through some tough times and something, some sort of fate maybe has bought them together and the road to a HEA is a little troublesome, but so thoroughly enjoyable.
Molly comes from a family of woman who are soothsayers and seem to always know what is happening, her grandmother Alice, Mother Marie and then there are her great aunts and cousins, there is a history that goes with these woman and a curse put on the by the great grandfathers many years ago, now Molly as returned home to Calamity Valley to work on her hacienda, and she needs someone to put a new roof on, when a stranger arrives who has the tool to do the job, welcome Saul.
Saul left his home and family in Colorado six years ago and has been working as a ranger but when he has a problem with a woman he takes off on a walk, a walk that will bring him to the town of Calamity and to help Molly, there is a pull, something a connection he cannot work out but there is forces in this town and at the hacienda that make him a little uneasy and the pull he has towards Molly is growing stronger everyday but he is forever being told that they are not for each other.
This was a fun quirky story with lots of woohoo going on with curses and seeing into the future and then there are developers trying to buy the town and with the towns folk joining together to keep the town this one had me turning the pages, MS Jones has a way of bringing her characters to life on the pages and again yes I loved Saul and Molly this is a fabulous journey to a very romantic HEA, and I highly recommend this one and I look forward to the cousin’s stories.
This is the first book I have read by this author and it won’t be the last. When I started reading this book I have to admit it had me rather confused. Now I am a dyslexic reader so that might be why. So many people popping in and out with witches and seers. It took me a few chapters to settle in and honestly I had to set the book down, read another one and when I came back with a fresh mind it seem to settle down for me and click into place.
Molly Mackillop is one of a family of all women who have never married ( cursed?) she has been drawn back to her hometown of Hopeless in Calamity Valley, Texas. Funny the names of the three small towns Hopeless, Surrender and Reckless and they each have some of her “women folk” living in them. Yes, I am sure we will have books about them coming up soon. But this is Molly’s book and oh yes Saul Solomon. Molly came home after her broken engagement. Broken in more than the sense that she is not longer engaged but also that he stole from her. Now she needs to fix her hacienda in order to open her photography business . Her Aunts have forcast a man will come into the picture to help her… This book is well written and one I enjoyed. Looking forward to more from Author Jennie Jones.
This is the start of a 3-book series with three cousins, set in a small town in America. Each cousin has a mystical grandmother, a curse to break, and a partner to find. These are a great fun read.
