~A London Lovers Series Stand Alone~
When Leslie Lincoln, a spunky, red-headed American, suffers an awkward moment with an arousingly-sexy British man—she thinks her life can’t get any more pathetic.
She’s done with men.
She doesn’t need them.
She especially doesn’t need their muscular thighs.
No siree, she’s going to forget all about the brooding, complicated, and seductive “Theo” who … complicated, and seductive “Theo” who captivated her on the dance floor of a London nightclub.
Keep telling yourself that, Lez…..
Immersing herself into a new type of romantic cleanse, Leslie thinks she’ll never lay eyes on Theo again. But somehow, he’s managed to bulldoze his way back in—her cheetah-print onesie pajamas be damned.
He wants more.
She wants to run.
But he can’t seem to let her go.
Both of them have a past—and neither want to share.
How can love possibly survive in darkness?

Hardwired together
Theo and Leslie. Where do I even start with these two? They both carry so much shame and so many secrets; they both are walking around in a fog, until a random encounter shakes their foundation. She’s a runner, he’s single minded in his pursuit. While I’m not always a fan of the cat and mouse, of course Amy Daws makes it fresh and new by introducing a Romantic Cleanse for Leslie, led by her best friend, the flamboyantly fabulous Frank.
I loved the slow reveal of each other’s secrets, so emotional and raw. My heart hurt for these two that were each dealt a sucker punch by life. But with honestly and love Leslie and Theo rediscover the sparkle in life. A love that is hard fought is so much sweeter. I loved these two!
I enjoyed this book much more than the first two in the series. Leslie is such a funny character.
We learn of happenings of when she first met Theo back in previous books, but we got her POV for it in the prologue.
I found myself getting frustrated that Leslie and Theo wouldn’t just come out and tell what their issues were. After learning what their issues were, I had a whole new found understanding of why.
This book wasn’t as angsty as the first two in the series. Leslie and Theo are the perfect couple once Leslie let’s him in. They really grow as individuals and as a couple. A few grand gestures thrown in there and those help as well!
This book is clearly based in London and I truly enjoyed getting out of the typical American based story for awhile. I enjoyed it, not my favorite by this author but still definitely a good book!
If you’re looking for a great happily ever after with a hot dude with glasses, this is your book!
So, this review is reallllllllllllly old. It was of course the third book I read by one of my now favorite authors, one of her earlier books, so take my review with a grain of salt, because these days, I love every single one of her books that I read! But I’m going through old reviews and posting them online as I get time.
While we have the same characters as those others, Becoming Us and A Broken Us, this time we center the story around one of the friends from those books, and this story can actually be read without reading the others. This time it is Leslie, and we did get a glimpse at her first meeting with Theo in the first two books. But in this book we see her background and why she went to London, as well as what her problems with guys are, as well as what problems this Theo has. I’m not sure I’m a fan of how this story went really. It was kind of weird and abrupt in certain areas. But, I’ll probably continue with the series, as I do like the characters.
Although I didn’t run into any instances of uncontrollable laughter or tear shedding, that doesn’t mean this book didn’t have any emotion to it. The presence of Leslie’s friend Frank guarantees numerous chuckles, and the fact that the book is in this series at all means there will be some kind of depressing aspect involved. The sad parts of this novel relate to the somber familial pasts of both Leslie and Theo, which they desperately try to keep secret from one another.
I do think there could have been a better flow to both the story and style of the book. When the novel opens, Leslie is attending Finley and Brody’s wedding, and we’re provided with a lot of flashbacks, as well as some behind the scenes descriptions as to what really went down between Leslie and Theo in book 2, A Broken Us. Frank then insists that Leslie partake in his 7 day romance cleanse, and hilarity ensues with speed dating, stringing along two guys simultaneously, and culminating with a one-night stand. There is also a lovely amount of sexual tension involved as Theo constantly pursues Leslie throughout the whole cleanse. Once Leslie gives herself over to Theo though the tone for the rest of the novel takes a dramatic turn for, well, the dramatic. It almost seems like you’re reading an entirely different book.
The support group of friends is really what makes all of the books in this series shine. The same characters are present throughout, and by this third book you can recognize and understand all their varying quirks and personality traits. I’m not gonna lie though, the sexy beau-hunks are also a plus.
How can two so unbelievably broken people find each other and piece everything together just right? I am blown away by the storytelling in this series. Every single emotion, from deliriously happy to utterly devastated. I can’t wait to start book 4!
*4 Stars*
I’ve been enjoying this series and I was excited to finally get to read Leslie and Theo’s story. Les is so full of life and so funny, yet getting to know her deeper side, and share in her insecurities is a huge change from what she shows on the outside.
Theo is bloody pushy, but he’s loveable once you really to know him. And those family secrets. Both Les and Theo have their family secrets, and these are huge parts of who they are.
Seeing them work through things could be both frustrating and wonderful at times. The last probably 1/4 of the book really made it for me, and I loved the ending so much. It was perfect for these two, even after that shocker that I totally did not see coming.
Once again there are some series issues dealt with in this book, but in her usually way, Amy writes them well and with justice, in my opinion anyway, so that they are not too much one way or the other, in terms of overwhelming and despairing life issues that people deal with.
I’m looking forward to continuing this series, can’t wait to see what else Amy has in store!
We followed Finley to London with her mate Leslie and in this book we follow Leslie story as the gorgeous Theo pursues her all over London. When Leslie roommate Frank decides she needs to do a cleanse to get better. She runs around London trying to find herself again all the while Theo seems to be everywhere. I loved this story, Theo is just so yummy and you are rooting for him all along. Amy Daws is easily becoming a favorite author of mine. She writes from the heart and brings emotions out in her readers with every word. Definitely a must read author!!!
Short review. I really liked this book. Interesting journey story about learning to forgive yourself for the events that happen in your past that were out of your control and freeing yourself from the darkness to not only letting love in but happiness back into your life.
