Lola Barnes only wants one thing, to get her life under control. No more chasing alphas who abuse and toss away betas like her. No more hiding in her cousin’s apartment licking wounds that won’t heal. Armed with her dream job and her less than dreamy apartment, Lola is ready to start a new chapter of her life without alphas. But that’s easier said than done when one stumbling incident after … another leads Lola closer to an alluring pack of captivating men.
These alphas are everything Lola dreamed of, but they already have an omega—a playful male model who won’t stop flirting with her. And Lola is only a beta, one who comes with deep scars and an unshakeable aversion to alphas and their powerful presences. If only she could resist their perfect beta, Leo, whose patience and determination to see her heal breaks down one wall after another.
When the alpha who all but destroyed Lola tries to start a game of cat and mouse that’s all claws, the safest place for Lola may be the one she’s most terrified of, in the arms of an alpha pack.

Talk about a book hangover! Kathryn writes Lola’s response to her trauma so so well. Her journey of healing and self love is just one of the reasons we have read this duology multiple times. Seeing Lola overcome her fear of alphas and recognizing that she is important to the pack was so beautiful. We love every single man in this pack, all for multitudes of reasons. We love Leo for immediately realizing how special Lola was, Rake for his easy acceptance and silly charm, Matthieu for grounding Lola and being her rock, Caleb for his calming nature and soothing presence, Cyrus for his tough love and logic, and Wes for his strength and confidence. Of course we both have our favorites but we will never tell!
So this is kind of a contemporary story but with paranormal themes. The world Moon has created has alphas, betas, and omegas and each designation emits a scent, bonds through a claiming bite, and has shifter like qualities, but these are not shifters. Each group has one omega. Lola is a beta who was abused by alphas. She has always wanted to be an omega. Lola has been coping but also has loads of self esteem issues when it comes to relationships. I really liked Lola’s journey and seeing her gain confidence. I loved that these alphas, omega, and beta that are attracted to her go at her pace and are really focused on consent. There is some really steamy scenes and I’m hooked. I need to go get part 2 now 🙂
4.5 Stars I’ve seen this all over Tiktok and I thought it was a sign from the universe not only to give this author, but omegaverse a go, finally. And I’m really glad I picked this book as my first for both. It’s full of angst, heat and heart. Check your triggers though because while this may be called “sweetverse” this isn’t all fluff. As many cinnamon rolls as there is in this, it is dark in spots but I get the hype for sure. I already have part two downloaded and waiting.
Challenging several of my beliefs
I read Baby and the Late Night Howlers and found it to be an “okay” read. Good but not one of my favorites. In fact, I didn’t particularly like Lola’s character in that book, although she was only in a few scenes. I wasn’t even planning to read this book but I saw some reviews on GR from folks whose opinions I respect and they were raving about this book so I decided to try the first two chapters just to see… That first two chapters turned into a one-sit reading of the entire book followed by a one-click download of the second book so I could immediately continue with this addictive brilliance. I have read a few different books by Kathryn Moon and am going on record as saying this duology is the best work she has done. In fact, right now this is sitting at the top of my favorite reads of 2020.
This book challenged several of my beliefs of what my preferences are when it comes to romance reads. I love RH when it’s done right, and boy was this done right. Typically, I prefer a really strong h, one with a compelling attitude and lots of humor and snark. More of a badass who doesn’t need saving. That’s not how I would describe Lola (h). I would describe Lola as vulnerable, reserved, sweet but with an inner strength that shines through. I LOVED Lola. The plot line of a victimized female is rather common in the romance genre and in a lot of those cases the fmc is meek, shy, scared and continues to be a rather “innocent” and quiet character that everyone else just adores and shelters through the story. While Lola absolutely experienced trauma, I loved that she still knows her own mind. She still has her own goals. Yes, we see how her past experiences results in insecurity and triggers anxiety attacks, but you also get to see her (with the help of others) climbing out of those holes over and over again. She is strong in her own way and her personality shines as her confidence grows. Her moments of insecurity or anxiety seemed very human and believable. It never felt annoying or overdone for the sake of drama.
I also typically prefer the magic number of 3 men in an RH (4 max), well… this book had 6 which normally feels like way too many to feel like you get equal time with all but for some reason it really worked in this story. I think that is in part because there are multiple points of view so we get to really know these characters and the guys were already a pack with bonds and a tight relationship before Lola enters the story.
I also normally avoid books that feature MM interactions in the romance. It just doesn’t do it for me. I prefer to see the fmc be the one desired but for some reason it not only didn’t bother me in this story but it added to it in some ways. I think its because of the “bonds” which are so well explained and described that you could see that Lola was just as important and desired by them if not more so than their relationships with each other.
A few other thoughts. There is a LOT of sex (really good sex) in this book, but it never felt like too much or that it usurped the story line. I think that is because these are really long scenes where the author actually used these scenes to show us the relationship evolution and Lola regaining her confidence and the men seeing her as a vital missing link in their pack. These scenes were vital to the story line but they were also HOT. There is a scene at about the 82% point that blew my mind. Hottest scene I have ever read and I consider myself somewhat seasoned when it comes to romance reads.
Not sure what else to say people. Regardless of any preconceived beliefs of what you think you prefer when it comes to romance reads, I strongly recommend you give this book a go.
This world was set up in Baby’s book but now we have Lola’s story. We find out what happened with the crazy alphas and it turns out, it was devastating. The relationships between the characters is interesting and the multiple POV was done marvelously. I really liked the stalker trope and the idea that betas of this universe have a hard time accepting their roles among alphas and omegas.
An intricate and addictive story, I tried to read this in one sitting, I couldn’t, but I certainly tried, so it took me two days, outside of work, lol. I read Baby and The Midnight Howlers and absolutely loved the complexity of that plot, the characters, everything. I wasn’t sure about Lola’s story though, I didn’t like her much in Baby’s story. I was wrong to wait so long to read this book and I’m moving directly into reading part two as soon as this review posts. In this book, Lola is recovering from her trauma in Baby’s book. She suffers from PTSD and was completely messed up by the things that she went through, but also by the things that she carried from her own upbringing. She and Baby were best friends but after what happened to her, she just cuts Baby out. Understandable, but still kind of grimy of her, since Baby loves her like a sister. As the chapters progress, Lola steadily improves through her building relationships with some new people. I won’t give up the story, lol, but it is deeply addictive. The plot is detailed and multi-layered, all the emotions and angst just keep building and building up, Lola has good days and bad days, sometimes on the same day, but through it, all her new connections help her to build new strength. Admittedly, I wanted to race through this book just so I could see how Lola ends up, how her past gets resolved, and what it will take for her to heal herself enough to love herself as she is. But the way it unfolds is so detailed and complete that honestly, reading through it all just made me want to read more. I’m definitely reading Part two beginning in about five minutes.
I really love KM’s take on the Omegaverse. In her world, omegas are called for by packs of Alphas but within those packs the is room for love with betas. Most omegaverse year betas as second-class citizens and don’t really go into their lives. KM chooses to to include them as an important part of society and I love that.
We originally met Lola in Baby’s book briefly. She kinda came off as a barfly or a fair-weather friend, but in this book we get to see the deeper side of her character and the broken pieces she is trying to gather together after the disastrous consequences of her actions.
KM shows us a character that is struggling to believe she is worth more. Though she longs for love and happiness, she feels she will never be special enough to have it. It’s a brokenness that keeps her in a constant state of fear and refection until she meets Leo and his pack. They begin to slowly show her she is worth more, but will she allow herself to believe our will she self-destruct?
Oh Lola! This book was an emotional rollercoaster of pain, anxiety, hope and budding love. It was just as fantastic as Baby’s book, just different. It still makes me a totally mushy reader.
Lola is broken by her past experiences, but a new dream job brings her to a pack that makes me drool. She has a lot to battle including a person from her past.
I loved this book so hard and book two is waiting for me on my kindle. I highly recommend you check out this series. You won’t regret it.
First time reading this author’s book. So glad I did. She is a fantastic author. I loved this book and can’t wait for the next one.
I’m reviewing both of these books. There is Lola and the Millionaires part 1 and part 2. The HEA comes after part 2. This was a wonderful two part book. An RH take on the Omegaverse in a way that I’ve never read before. Frankly, I think this is what has been missing from the Omegaverse, a story like this. Its not just a love story, its about finding happiness after going through hell and believing that oyu deserve it. Wonderful, astounding writing and I loved every second. 5 star read.
I am not sure how I am going to convey how amazing this 2 part story is. I honestly lost so much sleep, cheated and read some during my work day, and overall didn’t want to do anything else but read about Lola and her amazing men and their story. I know I won’t do this review justice and I don’t want to ruin how magical it is so I will try to keep this brief.
Lola has so many layers, with what she has had to go through, her upbringing, the society they live in, she hasn’t recovered mentally and emotionally from her torture that is alluded to in Baby’s standalone. She gets a job at her dream company, with the help of her cousin, and she meets some of the guys who will change her life. Funnily enough she already met one of their pack earlier in the book (so much steam in the first like couple chapters, really drew me in!). I loved seeing how fragile Lola was, but how she got stronger with the help of others and really allowing herself to trust in people again. More about that in my review for book 2!
I will say that my ranking of guys tended to switch a lot, like in terms of who was my favorite. I love the small differences in each of the guys. I know I gravitated towards almost all of them throughout the whole series. I think in book 1, Rake, Matt, and Leo stole the show for me in terms of the guys. I mean I was super intrigued by Caleb and Wes and not so much Cyrus, but I think that was just because of his air time so to speak haha.
I loved the alone time she got with the guys but then the group interaction. The pack was adorable with how they are a family. I love the protectiveness and joking around, and how open they are with each other. I thought the storyline was on a great pace, nothing was too quick or drawn out. I mean I have absolutely nothing bad or any critiques to give. I loved every second of book 1 and couldn’t wait to get into book 2.
Highly recommend, top 10 favorite RH stories of all time. I already have started a reread because it for some reason grounds me. I don’t know how to describe it. Ok, now to write my review for book 2 which somehow is better than book 1! I don’t know how Kathryn did it
If you have read Baby & The Late Night Howlers (if not, why????) then you already know Lola, though the full impact of her story was only brushed on in that charming novel. Here, Lola take center stage, entering into the fray with a gut punch of emotion, desire and understandable insecurity.
I am still unsure of much when it comes to the Omega-Verse concept. The way they are written and presented, I want to think that they are shifters. But The forward by Moon here clearly states that this is an alternative universe, just with biologically different humans – NOT SHIFTERS.
It messes with my mind, but here, it doesn’t really seem to matter, as the way the story flows and progresses just draws you in and allows these amazing characters to bloom in the narrative. The instincts and smells that drive them are paramount, but it’s the way those instincts are navigated that makes this story stand out – and prevents it from being just another ‘dirty little secret pleasure’ read.
Lola is a Beta in a world that prizes Alphas and Omegas. Put down most of her life and traumatized in the past year by events her own desires taunted, she is an insecure woman trying to find herself int he aftermath of pain. She’s scared, she’s alone – but she’s determined. And when her path lands her in the way of a unique Alpha Pack while whispers of the past reach out, everything collides and sends them ALL reeling.
This is a delightful read that truly lives up to its series title of ‘SweetVerse’. Highly emotional, raw and honest, it packs a punch that makes you think and cheer along the way. I LOVED that the Omega here is male (can I keep Rake? Please??) and that the main character is a Beta… and she is fantastic! Her journey is painful, but necessary – and I’m here for it. For ALL of it.

Incredible story that shows an amazing journey. This is beautifully written and has amazing, distinct and fun characters. I loved all of the men in Lola’s RH and their personalities. This book uses flashbacks to illustrate Lola’s past trauma really well.
Kathyrn Moon has done it again 🙂 Lola and the Millionaires Part 1 is an excellent, decadent read. Lola is a survivor–a horrible experience traumatized her, but what makes this such a great story is you can see the gradual way regains her confidence in life and herself. The men are beyond swoon worthy. The support they offer Lola, without any demands placed on her, is refreshing, believable, and one of the best aspects of Part One. I loved seeing the relationships develop at pace that suits the backstory. I highly recommend this book. Be prepared to not get anything done until you finish it though.
If I wasn’t a fan of omegaverse before, I now consider myself a convert. My gawd, this book is just pure deliciousness! I loved Baby and her bikers, but this one just blew me away. The author certainly outdid herself but hey, what did I expect?
If you have been following this series, you would know that Lola is the beta BFF of Baby, who has entangled herself with a rival bikers. We didn’t know the extent of what happened with her and I’m so grateful that the author gave Lola a chance to have her story told. Without giving any spoilers, let just say that this first part of the duet, Lola is in her journey of recovering from her traumatic past by immersing herself on a new job. There she met a pack of sweet, supportive, hot and sexy men to help her overcome her fears. I’m not one to play favorites, but I just adore the drool worthy Rake and our sexy French guy, Matthieu. I loved how the guys treat Lola with patience, showers her with love and care that she deserves. And of course, those steamy moments, whew!!! If book one in this series was fire, this duet is panty-melting, shower-inducing hotness! Highly recommend and now on to part two!
5-fucking-beta-stars!!!!!
I was drawn into this wonderful read. Starting out with Lola I felt like I was there with her, I felt her pain, her troubles, heartache and courage. It was an amazing book I reread it right away! Learning who Lola had been before trauma and after. You’ll see a women start her journey of growth into someone beyond beautiful inside and out.
Lola and the Millionaires is a two part series. I am going to include a review for both one and two. I came across this series when I saw part one was out, and I was so thankful that the second one was as well.
Lola is a beta. She has been hurt by a pair of alphas that has left her fearful of all alphas. She likes to keep to her self but sometimes she has to find a hookup at her favorite Beta bar. She cannot stand to be touched but sometimes the loneliness gets to her and she has to have the touch and release that one night stands give. But only with Beta’s. One such night she finds the perfect guy for the night, her need for him great. It is only when she gets a peek at his shoulder that she notices his alpha bite. She panics, he is part of a pack, a pack with an alpha. She leaves, never expecting to see him again. Until she gets a job at the magazine of her dreams. There her life changes. For not only is she living her dream, but she meets her mysterious man and realizes that he could forge a new life for her, with his pack. But there is an alpha from her past, one that makes her want to scream as beautifully for him as she used to, and he will not stop until her gets her back.
I literally could not put my kindle down. I was so hooked on Lola and her guys. Her story got me. So first off I will explain that this is not a shifter series. There are Betas, Omegas and Alphas. But they do not shift. Also there is a lot of mm, mmf, and mm with mmf on the side. I am not a huge fan of mm but if done right, it is a turn on. This was done right. Also I have to say that it was such a twist to have a male as the Omega with four alphas. I really liked this dynamic.
Lola because of what happened to her, yes if you have a trigger you may be weary of this read, she is scared of alphas. That fear I think is what raises their protective instincts and they from the start look out for her. She needed them but did not know if she was good for them. They let her go at her pace and when they pushed she could push back. There was some running on her part, but as she liked to say she has to take a step back and think about things. She got caught up in her head a lot, which we all sometimes second guess what we do.
Now there are two parts, the first one is introducing the characters, and getting the plot going. The second half is her coming to terms that there is several someones who want her for her, messed up mind and all. There are so many levels to this story that I just really could not stop reading. I love Lola and her guys and I love their ending. I have a feeling that you will too.
First don’t panic. The cliff hanger for part one is just full of tingling anticipation and with part 2 available immediately, it is the best of both worlds. Make yourself go get a snack and a good glass of wine while you marinade in the promise of what’s to come. I was so nervous for Lola all through out Baby and the Late Night Howlers. Her decisions during that book made me cringe and hold my breath with the consequences of what was to come. In Part One of Lola, we learn that our imaginations were correct and our poor Lola suffered in horrific ways. My heart broke for her as she not only realized that the world she had built up in her fantasies about what life would be life if… came crashing down around her, leaving her alone with her scars and disillusionment. Lola’s journey from the space that has taken over her life is one of brave decisions, hard introspective work, and a building of a new life and family that helps her to begin healing from the atrocities she endured. Watching her make decisions that force her to look inward to her own demons and turning around and learning to slowly trust again is such an amazing model to all of us that have the same types of demons on our own paths. Lola models what it’s like to have to face the darkness in our our own pasts and to rise above it while learning to to trust others with our vulnerabilities; allowing the people who love us to help us with the work of building a new normal. Now get your chocolate, your wine, put your feet up and dive right into Part Two of Lola! Get ready for a wild ride!
This is a two part story and do yourself a favor and buy both part 1 and 2 at the same time! You will thank me!!
We met Lola in the book Baby + Late Night Howlers but you don’t have to read that story first for this book to work. (But you should!)
You can see that Lola is definitely fighting some inner demons but is doing her best to do more that just exist. She gets her dream job and you get to follow her learning the ropes. Book 1 has Lola meeting her Millionaires and getting more comfortable with them. The guys are amazing!! There are some amazing steamy scenes and some soft cuddly ones too. There is a threat to her safety and the guys help her figure out what to do and don’t just take over. There is a small cliffhanger BUT book 2 is ok so it is ok!
Give this story a try and you wont regret it!!
Wow!!! I loved Lola in Baby’s book but man she really has an epic journey to healing! I loved book one devoured it!! I’m happy with the glimpses of Baby and her happy ever after as we explore Lola’s journey to healing! I’m off to devour book 2!
