Loki Grant’s first memories are of living in a crate behind an inn in Ayr, struggling to survive. Clan Grant saved him from his lonely existence and took him in as one of their own. But though the Highlands have become his home and he loves his adopted parents, Brodie and Celestina, Loki feels lost. Part of him is still that scrappy wee lad who relied on his wits to survive the streets, and he is … is not sure he belongs. The feistiest and most beautiful lass in the clan, Arabella, steals his heart, but when her father resists the match because Loki is not of clan blood, Loki decides to confront his past. He wishes to satisfy Bella’s father by discovering his parentage, but he also hopes his quest will help him understand his purpose.
As far as Arabella is concerned, Loki Grant is the wiliest, brawest, and most handsome warrior in existence. She is determined to have him as her husband regardless of what her father thinks. So when Loki’s search for his sire leads him into trouble, she rushes headlong after him.
Together, Loki and Arabella must discover the dark secrets of Loki’s origins, for only by confronting the past can they hope for a bright future together.

Heart-pounding action with guys in kilts made this book move right along, but it was the main character’s backstory as life as an orphan that was haunting. The descriptions of the Highlands, the search for Loki’s true parents, the underlying secondary missing crown jewels all worked together. The romance and the powers keeping them apart made me wish for a happy ending. I listened to the audio book.
I love historical fiction.
This is the first book I have read by this author…It is a fast read…a real page turner.I didn’t want to put it down. Loki was an orphan who got adopted and felt that he never really belonged…he fell in love and her father wouldn’t let her marry an “outsider”. Loki finds out who he is and it is a real surprise ending….LOVE THIS BOOK and I am reading the next book in the series right now (Torrian). If you love Scottish romance like I do, you will love this book!
I love Loki storyline. He came from nothing and made himself into a warrior. His adopted family is very loving. I enjoyed it
It was hard to get through the beginning because of all the set up to understand the characters. If you make it through that part the rest of the book is engaging and interesting. I enjoyed the characters and plot once it got going. I would have enjoyed reading more about how they settled down in the end.
Liked but wasn’t a can’t put it down type of book like the others.
Great story!
This was a sweet romance set in the Highlands. There was a lot of action that helped the story move along. This is part of a series, so if you have not read the preceding novels in the series, it can be confusing with all the names and relational connections.
I could not get interested in this book at the time I tried to read it, but I will try again later to read it.
Great book, I could hardly put it down!
Way too many bedroom scenes that took away from the story. The story would have been good without so much emphasis on sex!
Loki is strong and determined to find his past as tragic as it might be. The love of his life is Bella, she’s fierce and just as determined to help him on his quest. I couldn’t wait to finish this book.
Action pack adventure make this book one to read.
When you would like to be entertained
hard to get interested in story
This book kept my interest from beginning to end .
Just the most boring book ever!
I really enjoyed reading Loki’s story and seeing him in a happy relationship. I love the whole series
I loved Lucky Loki! You will as well. Everyone enjoys the story of an underdog who comes out on top!
I follow this series because each story gets better and better. I love the way the cousins, and basically the whole family, looks out for one another. I also like how Loki helps a child who was left to fend for himself, in the same way that he was, escape that life. I can’t wait to read the next story in this series.
