Quick read but enjoyable. The book ends at 51% with a bonus book.
I love a book that involves a damsel in distress and being stuck on an island is a plus.
With this book, Lock lives on this island. It’s all he knows, completely clueless to what the world is like. Juliet is on a helicopter that crashes on the island. It’s up to Lock to protect her but Juliet has problems with that. Especially when she learns more about the fatal helicopter crash.
I loved Lock. Strong, brave, and determined to show Juliet he cares for her.
Juliet on the other hand was like a broken record. How many times can one run away into the jungle knowing it was unsafe. It was getting extremely old reading about her running away when things got tough. Everytime Lock had to go and save her.
Overall, it was okay. Some parts were better than others but the visual of the island makes me want to go find my in deserted island to live on.
This story reminds me of the saying, do you live under a rock? Lock does not understand the social nuances that people need to know to communicate and thrive. My heart broke when you realize what happened with the little girl and understand it wasn’t because he was evil.
I read and reviewed a copy of this book.
This author has become my new favorite. She brings an originality to her stories that’s rare to discover. I read over 200 books a year, so to find one that stands out can be tricky. This story stands out!
5 Stars-The setting is a remote island ( who doesn’t want to be on a remote island? ).
5 Stars- The hero, Lock, is endearing yet misunderstood. And oh so loveable!!!
4 Stars-The heroine, Juliet, closed off and stubborn. Hard to like.
A bit dark, definitely barbaric, tragic and emotional. I loved this book.
Imagine this for only for a moment.
Solitude.
Quietness.
Away from the world, from people, from traffic, from city life.
Secluded on an island, living off the land, in nature with no disturbances.
Just you and your thoughts.
And you wouldn’t want it any other way.
This is Lock’s life.
A life that he ran too after living in hell for years.
Now after the abuse, the torment, the pain and hurt Lock can now live a life away from the clutches of his past.
Finally freedom is his.
But everything Lock is used to is about to change.
An accident is about to change Lock’s life.
But more importantly she will be his game changer.
Her name….Juliet.
Juliet and Lock, two complete opposites, joined by the unlikeliest of circumstances.
How can two people so different co-exist in Lock’s world?
How can Juliet survive when she finally realizes that Lock will do anything in his power to keep her?
Lock will make Juliet his…..Who will survive?
Guys again another spectacular read by Clarissa Wild. Raw, confronting an highly emotional, Lock was everything a novel could be and so much more.
Catapulted into a world that delves into the mind of what life is like when you are broken and not conditioned to live on the outside world. Thrown into a tragic story about the willingness to love even though you have never felt it.
A powerful read that left me speechless.
Sheer perfection.
5 stars
Lock and Jules. Book 2 in the series. While I liked the characters and their story, I found it harder to connect with them. Lock suffered similarly to what Cage endured. But the difference between the two is that Lock cannot seem to function in society and Cage can. Both had so much to learn as they were deprived of so much in their glass prison.
Jules, being a researcher, found remote island life palatable after a while. She knows her way around berries and leaves and herbs and natural science. She’s a good match for Lock. Their chemistry and passion is as primitive as their surroundings, but it’s hot!!
Their life together took some significant compromise. But truly that’s what love is and their need for each other only grew and was undeniable.
I liked the finish to this series. It wrapped up some questions in the plot line. Disturbing in parts.
First off I adore the author, I love her ability to twist my mind up with a dark and dirty tale.
That being said, my review is going to be a bit unpopular.
Lock’s past sent him running. Alone in his island he’s found peace, as best as a haunted soul can. Until the day Julia crashes into his life, changing it forever.
Lock was good but Juliet aka Jules absolutely ruined it for me. She and Lock both refer to her as difficult but that’s an understatement. To me she’s a selfish, stubborn bitch who didn’t deserve the good things he did and tried to do for her ungrateful ass. I wanted to slap her silly on numerous occasions and hoped she’s drown at one point. Lock’s part of the story is great, I just couldn’t connect with Jules whatsoever.
funny how the theme is similar to a little fantasy of mine. survivor of a plane crash and saved by Lock who is living in solitude in the island. Locks upbringing really makes me want to read the other book, Caged because there was a review i saw that mentioned that would help better understand him and his background.
tasting love and happiness, they slowly overcome their obstacles and stay together in the end
Oh man! Lock is savage, Lock is misunderstood, Lock is intense! Lock is Cage’s older brother. We had been previously introduced to Cage in Caged. Now it’s Lock’s story after he escaped.
Lock was raised in a cage by his father. He was allowed outside as an award. When Lock was able to finally escape he felt unwelcomed. Now he’s living on a desolate island alone until a whirly bird crashes and burns leaving one woman alive.
Juliet, Jules, Baker is a scientist on a research mission that was headed to a desolate island until her helicopter crashed. She’s captured by a wild man, a savage in the jungle. She’s stranded on a island without communication to the outside world.
Lock decides to make Jules his. Now he has to find a way to convince her to stay with him on the island. However Jules has other plans. She wants to leave and keeps running from Lock to find away home. No matter how dangerous.
Lock melted me! He’s like a fierce teddy bear. He wants to protect Jules but she fights him tooth and nail. Jules isn’t my favorite, she a smart woman but she lacks common sense. I enjoyed the story and can’t wait for the next Clarissa Wild book! 4 Stars.
Clarissa Wild has written the sequel to her book Caged and given us Locked.
Lock was born and bred to fight, but when he escaped, he decided that he was done fighting altogether. He wanted to go see and travel the world. He managed to go all over the world and then ended up on a deserted tropical island. He was perfectly happy to make his life there.
Jules is a wildlife biologist. She loves her job and looks forward to getting in the field to study. Along with her team, she is on her way to a deserted island untouched by humans when her helicopter crashes, killing everyone but her.
This is a really interesting story. I liked seeing someone who had gone through horrific things in his life and how he would want to change his life. Listening to Lock describe what being in the world was like for him made me want to get out in the sunshine and enjoy the world myself.
There were points in this story that I cried and had all the feelz. I really would love to have more of this story and find out what happens with Lock and Jules.
Another highly emotional read that will leave you wrung out and raw after reading it. When I was once again transfixed from the beginning of this read. While I fell in love with Lock, Juliet was harder to like, although I eventually liked her.
In this book these two find love in the unlikely of places but is it going to be enough? Will they be able to find a way to communicate with each other? Will she be able to accept the life she’d have with Lock or will she go back to her world if given the chance?
I highly recommend this book, it is a completely addicting read that you won’t be able to put down!!
Yes, yes, yes! Ever since reading CAGED and absolutely loving it I have been so, so thrilled – ecstatic even – to find out that Lock, Cage’s older brother would get a story as well. And ever since then I’ve been waiting on pins and needles for LOCKED to be in my grabby hands. Cage still might be my favorite, but Lock definitely is not far behind:
• Savage and wild? Check.
• A barely tamed beast of a man? Check.
• All caveman, rough and possessive? Check.
• Dangerous yet empathetic and sweet? Check, check, check!
Like his brother, Lock has been raised by a monster, having lived in a glass cage most of his life with only one purpose deeply implemented into him: to fight, to kill and to win. His reward? A few precious hours in the outside world before getting locked up again. And one day … he runs, leaving his prison behind. But his knowledge of the world, of what is deemed right and acceptable, is basic at best – if existent at all – in short: He is totally misunderstood and doesn’t fit into today’s society. At all. So he ends up living on a small remote island all by himself, finally being happy and at peace with the world. But that peace is disturbed when a strange metal bird crashes onto his island, and a beautiful woman with it…
Their start is bumpy, unusual, questionable even – but is it really surprising to freak out when being confronted with a barbaric looking beast of a man after surviving a helicopter crash? Is it really surprising that Lock literally locks her away to save both himself and her from herself? Is it really surprising that thoroughly different personalities clash time and again and suffer from miscommunication? And still, through and despite it all … there is this underlying undeniable attraction between them from the moment they meet…
Juliet: A scientist who came to the uninhabited island – or so she believed – to research its plant life. Now, with no way to leave the island again, she finds herself torn between finding a way back into civilization again and giving up fighting the pull she feels toward Lock. And, oh, does she fight. She alternates between fighting and freaking the hell out. Poor Lock, who was able to see the kind and compassionate woman beneath only when she was recovering from one of her fits…
And Lock himself? Once you look behind all the mud, the hulk of a man, you find tenderness, unselfishness and a simplistic but pure and bruised heart that just wants to live in peace – and maybe, just maybe be loved just the way he is. He hopes so much for Jules to be that person, although she seems to want nothing more than to leave…
Theirs is a love story that is as basic, as primal as it can get. Two people living in the wild with nothing to connect them to the outside world, no supplies, and no distractions – all that is available is what the island provides – and the both of them. It’s real, eye-opening and definitely has a Tarzan / Jane ring to it. It’s dirty, sexy and dangerous, yet so, so heartfelt and sweet – beautiful.
I love Clarissa Wild’s writing – the things her dark and filthy mind conjures get to me every time. But with this series she hit it out of the park. I don’t know what these most primal heroes of hers are doing to me, I just know I cannot get enough, which is why it makes me so, so, SO happy that there will be a third book!! Cue me freaking out! Eeeek!!! I. CANNOT. WAIT!!!
Juliet, woozy, cautiously opens her eyes to fiery destruction all around her. She is the only survivor to a helicopter crash.. She’s also very stuck. Suddenly she’s pulled free by someone. No,..it’s a something, a beast or whatever. Juliet, terrified, runs into the surrounding jungle as far as she can before she blacks out to the sound of running feet coming for her…. this is only the beginning of Juliet and Lock’s Story. It’s as far from the norm as you can get. … Lock was born in captivity and raised by a father who beat him. His father only wanted him to be good at a few things. Fighting, mating, and killing. His reward was a few hours of freedom. Until Lock chose not to go back… As a result he is more animal than man in some ways. What he knows he’s learned by trial and error…Now his self imposed isolation on this island has been disturbed….
I absolutely enjoyed this story. Watching these two learn from each other and gradually form a relationship kept me totally captivated…It’s got some darkness, but it’s also got some lighthearted moments and of course the best is the erotic scenes.
If you’ve read about his brother in “Caged “ then you’re really gonna love this
