“Sometimes life has a way of pointing us in the direction we were always meant to go, even if it wasn’t where we thought we’d wind up.”
Question: What do you get when you put a brainy CIA analyst together with a smexxy CIA K9 officer?
Answer: A slow simmering romance that escalates to a heart racing finish!
Lock ‘N’ Load is a great beginning to a series that is full of mystery and intrigue as well as a sweet and sexy romance between Trista and Matt. I would recommend to lovers of crime fiction and romantic suspense.
*Received ARC for honest review*
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
The characters + storytelling were very captivating
Trista stumble onto something that she should not have.
Now, she is in danger.
Matt will keep Trista save at all cost.
Now both have to work together to uncover who is trying to kill her.
The storytelling + the character’s build were awesome!
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I liked it, but I’m a sucker for any book that highlights working dogs especially the Belgian Malinois. Oh and it was a cute love story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is the first book of Ms. O’Fallon that I have read. I was blown away with the quality. It was outstanding. I was enthralled in the action. It played out like being in the movies. The characters were so believable in their actions; so life-like. I loved the growth that Trista developed over time. The heart-break that Matt experienced in his teens that developed him into a man that didn’t think he was worth loving and being loved was gut-wrenching. I was glued to my e-reader and hated to put it down for anything.
I have my fingers crossed that the other K-9 officers introduced in this book receive their own stories. I highly recommend.
Action packed and exhilarating! With the start of a brand new Federal K-9 series, Tee O’Fallon quickly draws us into the heart of a case that will keep us on our toes throughout. We meet the hero and heroine who quickly catch our attention, plus meet an extended group of friends who I can only assume will be the stars of books going forward. There’s a fun camaraderie among them all that makes them a great edition to the book. The plot was well developed with a lot of action and suspense.
CIA analyst Trista Gold knows computers like the back of her hand, but people … yeah, people have always been awkward for her. Her job with the CIA brings her biggest passion to life as day in and day out she cracks code and passes along invaluable information regarding national security. She never thought her latest bit of intel would change her life so drastically!
CIA K-9 officer Matt Connors happens to be on check-point duty one day and meets Trista. She might think she’s socially awkward, but to him, she’s adorable. Luckily he still has her on his mind later than night when danger comes knocking! When two attempts are made on her life in a short amount of time and Matt rescues her from both, he decides he’s not leaving her side until he finds out who’s after her … and why!
Trista can get lost in her job. It’s the only thing she feels she is any good at. She may be beautiful but she never seems to believe that. When she stumbles onto something she shouldn’t she doesn’t realise the danger she is in. She may just need the help of the hot cop stationed at Langley. Pity he is attached to a K9 officer and she is deathly afraid of canines!
Matt is loving his new job. Something different from his job in the military but letting him still work with K9’s. His friends all work in different LEO jobs but all with K9 and they are descending on his house to help out at the big political shindig coming up. But Trista gets his protective side going but he notices that she kind of floats along in her own little bubble. He might need to keep her safe from everyone…including herself!
Matt is the eponymous hero and I loved meeting his friends and their dogs. Trista kind of reminds me of my niece, who has Aspergers. She is great when in her comfort zone but take her out of it and she falls apart. I did get annoyed with Poofy the cat, but then I’m defo a dog person! I actually quite liked her made up swear words, reminds me of when my son was wee and trying not to swear in front of him. They were oil and vinegar and never should mix but Trista and Matt were adorable. I’m going to enjoy the rest of this series for sure!
I do so love a good one with it being centered around a good officer. This one by this author has a added plus with a four footed officer by his side. Can not say I have read many with K-9 being part of the main character but sure would do so some more. Computer CIA Trista will cross paths with Matt and his K-9. What starts out as one direction will soon turn into danger from a stranger where she will need some help. Both have their own perceptions but they will get turned upside down when they are side by side. Since I myself do not curse it was amusing to see that this character could spout out some funny words. Anyways this one is a fantastic start to a series I hope to catch again.
An entertaining read
Brand new to this author, as a lover of both suspense reads and dogs, I couldn’t resist this first book in the new Federal K-9 series.
So, Matt. A hot, protective guy who loves dogs? Sign me up! After believing for so long that he doesn’t deserve anything good in his life, it takes him a while to accept his attraction to Trista. I really liked that Trista was an analyst and computer whiz, it made her relatable to me, and I loved that she had a feisty side that came out when she was angry, even if the chemistry she had with Matt made her stutter most of the time, lol.
The author did a great job building in the mystery and suspense; I have to admit, I was wondering when the prologue was going to come into play, so I was engaged in the plot from the very beginning. I did think the story was occasionally a little heavy on the info dump when introducing all of Matt’s friends. Pretty minor and understandable as I’m assuming this was setup for them to each get to get a book of their own in the series.
A light, entertaining read and I’ll be keeping an eye out for Matt’s friends in upcoming books in the series. 4 stars

I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down which is a problem when it’s 1am and you need to go to bed, haha!! I loved all the characters in this book. Trista is such a kitty underneath all that hidden plainess. It’s good Suspense romance. Both Matt and Trista need to get over somethings in their past and they both help each other to accomplish that. Matt also becomes her protector against the evil after her. All the other K-9 men in this book sound like guys I would want to know in real life. Also who couldn’t love Poofy and Sheba!! I hope there are more in this series!
*Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this for my honest opinion*
K9 to the Rescue.
Loved this story, the first I have read by this author. It had everything you could possibly want – danger, suspense, romance and obstacles that have to be overcome for the Hero and heroine to get their HEA. Flawed but likeable characters, hot chemistry and a delightful dog. Highly recommended.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A riveting five star read. I have found twenty-five new authors to read in the last few months but,I have to say this author is in the top two. Lock N Load is just that Lock N Load. From the first chapter until the last this is a suspenseful ride that you don’t want to get off of.It has an excellent storyline, great characters, suspense from the beginning until the end, danger, mystery, great secondary characters and last but not least a loveable dog and cat that win your heart. I can’t wait to read the next book by this author. I would definitely recommend this book.
I was given this book in exchange for my honest review. This was my first Tee O’Fallon book. Trista Gold is a CIA Analyst and Sgt. Matt Connors is a CIA K9 officer/handler. Trista is shy and trys to make herself as invisible as possible Trista stumbles on some intelligence that has the Russians trying to kill her. Matt happens to come along in time to save her life both times. The story is how Matt tries to protect her from the hitman out to kill her. Matt has demons in his past that Trista tries to help him overcome as he helps her come out of her shell.
I really liked the author’s writing style. There are several of Matt’s former military team that are also dog handler’s for various agencies. I am guessing the rest of these handsome men will get their own stories and I will be watching for them. I recommend this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
**I received a copy of Lock N’ Load from Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
Lock N’ Load by Tee O’Fallon is the first book of her new series about very hot men and their K-9 partners. I have read the author’s previous series but I really loved this book so a hearty 5 stars for the book.
Trista Gold is one of the best CIA Analyst and specialist in the dark net where she’s been tracking a Russian who knows a huge secret about a presidential nominee and a small town in the Canadian Arctic that could become an international incident. But when some one tries to kill her twice CIA K-9 officer Matt Connors and Sheba come to her rescue. But even Matt carries a tragedy from his childhood that he fears stops him from loving anyone ever again. Can guarding Trista help Matt overcome his heartache to not only love again but also heal his broken heart?
CIA K-9 officer Matt Connors and his former Marine teammates (All K-9 officers with various agencies) are staying at his grandfather’s former home that he hopes to turn into a place for young children in trouble with the law. But not only are his friend staying there while being assigned for duty guarding presidential candidates and then with Trista and her cat Poofy staying with them while they both try to find out why someone wants to kill her. There is one little problem Trista is afraid of dogs and really doesn’t know how to relate to something that isn’t a computer. But as they dig deeper into why the Russians are trying to kill her the secrets the uncover could cost more than Trista’s life but also all of their jobs when Matt and his friends to rescue her when she’s kidnapped.
I fell in love with Ms O’Fallon’s NYPD Blue and Gold series and couldn’t wait to read the first book of this new series.
I absolutely loved it.
This series centers around a group of very alpha law enforcement K-9 officers .
This book starts with Sgt. Matt Connors’s story.
Matt is a K-9 officer at the CIA and Trista Gold is one of the CIA’s computer whiz employees . A woman more comfortable with computers than with people, especially someone as alpha as Matt.
Matt on the other hand, is a man that does not get attached and has concluded that he will never be able to love any woman. His past is tragic and sadly, has molded him to be the man he is today.
When Trista comes across some dangerous information and almost lost her life not once, but twice, Matt is determined to take care of her and keep her safe.
While the story will keep you on the edge of your seats with all the suspense, the Russian operatives, the hunky K-9 officers and all of the CIA and FBI involvement , it’s Matt and Trisha who will pull you in. The chemistry between these two is palpable. Each will help the other realize how great they are not only as individuals but also together. But in the end, will Matt’s past stop them from getting their HEA? And will the Russians be the ones to win?
Another must read by this talented author. Can’t wait what she has in store for us in the next book.
I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
When I saw Tee O’Fallon was writing a new series I was really looking forward to seeing what she produced. I loved her debut series NYPD Blue & Gold and had 5 starred it all the way. I was however slightly disappointed in this book – Lock N Load which is the start of the Federal K-9 series.
Trista Gold is a CIA analyst who can do anything with her computer to hack and identify even the most high profile of people. Trista created a dark net programme to detect such people and when she cracks open a case on a Russian target and gets caught, it opens a whole can of worms which puts her life in extreme danger and in need of serious protection.
CIA K-9 officer Matt Connors happens to be the person that saves Trista’s life after she is attacked in a car park and takes it upon himself to protect her when he realises just how serious her attack was and the fact it was related to her job. Matt is attracted to Trista but has sworn of ever loving anyone because of something that happened 2 decades ago, so he knows he needs to keep his eye on the ball and proceed with caution without giving into his desires.
The positives of this book were that Tee O’Fallon can write a good story and the plot of the story itself was fantastic and had you on the edge of your seat at times with the angst which will keep the reader invested. However a couple things were just either too far fetched or just sounded a bit off in situations with the characters. For example their chemistry to me wasn’t like ultimate soulmate chemistry that just clicked together, it was more like an extremely slow drawn out awkward process that was slightly painful to watch. Maybe less detailed descriptive’s and more chemistry would have notched it up a little? Overall though it is an enjoyable read and I will definitely look forward to more in this series with the hopes that the next one is taken up a notch with the actual romance.
I liked this book immensely I laughed, I cried it was great and actually had a great plot.
I loved the action and I had difficulty putting it down.
Lock ‘N’ Load (for action)
There were so many aspects of Lock ‘N’ Load by Tee O’Fallon that I really liked. Ms. O’Fallon is a very skilled writer who kept the plot moving forward with each scene. Ms. O’Fallon also understands the need for balance between internal dialogue and dialogue between characters. Speaking of characters, I loved both Matt and Trista, but sometimes K-9 officer Sheba would steal the scene. Loved Sheba. Also, all of the hunky supporting players and Trista’s two friends were well developed and played their parts to perfection.
All in all this suspenseful romance has all the right elements. It’s an entertaining page-turner. So why only 4 stars? Well, I understand that in the real world the ‘f’ word is over used. I just don’t like it when it is over used in an otherwise really good book. I don’t mind the occasional use for dramatic emphasis, but not 63 times as a noun, verb, adjective, etc.
For readers who don’t mind the language and/or the sex (which is pretty hot), you will probably like this book.
Content 411: In addition to a heavy amount of swearing and the ‘f’ word used a various parts of speech, this book also contains several very descriptive sex scenes.
Lock ‘N’ Load is the first book in the Federal K-9 series. It’s a romantic suspense that can be read as a stand alone with a HEA. This is the first time I’ve read a book by this author, and it has tons of action and suspense, great dogs, and alpha men. I give this book a rating of 4.5 stars and I can’t wait to read Nick’s story…
Trista Gold is an expert CIA analyst, give her a code and she can break it. She is shy and not so great with people so she makes work her life. Breaking codes for national security will be the reason she is forced out of her protective shell and overcomes a couple of fears…
Sgt. Matt Connors is a K-9 officer for the CIA, his dog Sheba is one of the best in the business. Matt is a loner and his flings are temporary, he thinks he doesn’t deserve to be happy. On first sight of Tris, he suspects there is more beneath her drab appearance. But he knows he doesn’t have the time to act on his attraction, he must get his business up and running. Keeping away from Trista becomes pointless when he comes to her rescue.
Running a program at work that Tris developed failed during a blip of power. That blip exposes her to a Russian that will kill her to keep her quiet. So, after the 2 attacks on her life and both times Matt has saved her, Tris has to go into hiding and Matt and Sheba are appointed her bodyguards. Can “walls” be torn down to survive the danger that has come roaring in?
This is the first book I’ve read by Tee Fallon and it won’t be my last.
Lock ‘n load is the first in her series of federal K-9 stories. I can easily identify with her female leave the nerdy geek Trista Gold who works for the CIA as a computer analyst. Sergeant Matt O’Connor is a new K-9 security guard at Langley who is totally hot and around him Trista becomes nervous and stammering, unable to string two words together. Not to mention she has a phobia of dogs, making matters worse.
The characters and story were totally engaging from page one. Now that I finished the first book, I can’t wait to read about Matt’s buddies from the military who work at other federal agencies with their K-9 counterparts.
