One fiery night with a beautiful woman makes Lock feel alive again, but he doesn’t realize it’s her, his obsession from the past. His mentor’s widow. When her biker husband was murdered sixteen years ago, Grace Quillen ran away from her small hometown. But when tragedy strikes again, forty-two year old Grace must return to care for her sister and little nephew. One night she indulges in explosive … she indulges in explosive heat with Lock, an attractive stranger she meets at a bar, but the morning after, she’s shaken by her fateful mistake.
Why?
He’s no stranger.
Not only is he an officer in her husband’s bike club, but the two men had once been close friends, although Grace had never had a chance to meet him. Fate is a twisted bitch with a bitter sense of humor.
Lock had heard all about Grace from her husband years ago, from his brothers, seen her in photographs. Hell, she’d become his ultimate dream woman. A fantasy.
Now that once-in-a-lifetime fantasy is his reality, and he’s craving more. A hell of a lot more.
But the club has other plans. For the two of them.
Suddenly Grace is in the thick of the dangerous life she’d once left behind, with her and Lock are on opposite sides of a brutal firestorm ignited by a traitor in the club. With her nephew’s safety at risk and so many volatile secrets on the line, she must summon all her determination and grit. Lock is driven to find the fight in himself once more and do whatever it takes to protect Grace, whether she or his president wants him to or not.
Suspicions simmer, loyalties strain, hearts ache.
The truth hurts.
Once Grace and Lock had nothing. Now, they both have so damn much to lose.

WOW! This was my first Cat Porter and I was completely captivated! Lock & Key was amazing. So many wonderful characters and how their lives changed, developed, and intermixed. Did not want to put it down!
HOOKED! This book sank its claws in me from the moment I started. The story was riveting and addictive. I connected with Grace and Miller immediately and couldn’t put it down while their tale unfolded. Their chemistry was explosive and passionate.
Grace was my kind of heroine. She’s strong, independent and could hold her own amongst a group of bikers. Even in the sections that detailed her past as a sweet and innocent girl…she held on to that goodness while time in the biker life only made her stronger.
Miller aka Lock was strong, artistic and gentle. His first encounter with Grace got under his skin and spoke to his soul. He’s one of those strong silent types that hold in his anger and lets it out when the times arises, but it’s controlled and could be scary if you’re in the receiving end. His character just spoke to me on such a deeper level. I don’t know what it was about him that resonated with me. I just fell for him the moment he approached Grace.
This was such an incredible story. It had all the MC style drama but it wasn’t the drive of the story. Cat Porter did an amazing job of giving so much life to not just the main characters, but the supporting characters as well. This is my first experience with her work and anxious to get started on the next book in this series.
Question: Great Rainy Day Book
This is one of the best Romance series in the genre. This is the first book in the series and you should read the books in order to get the full flavor of the story. This book focuses on love the second time around between Grace and Miller, who belongs to a Motorcycle Club. But before there was and can be a Grace and Miller, they have to deal with the “ghost” of Digger, Grace’s former husband and also a member of the same MC club.
This is one of those books that you will long remember; I mean like you’ll never forget the characters, who are so richly drawn and portrayed. Relationships are complex, folks have lots of motives, not always good, for their behavior and at times you’re not sure who you should be rooting for. I love the whole series but my favorite book is actually the Pre-quel, Random and Rare, (which is rare because I generally hate pre-quels) but it really is a must read because it gives you the background of Grace and Digger’s epic love story and ties up all the lose ends to Lock and Key.
Every now and then, I get a wild hair up my arse, and I need to read something other than paranormal/supernatural. I had Lock & Key sitting in my Kindle Unlimited library, so I thought it was time I read it. I am so glad I did. It was one hell of a ride.
We are introduced to Miller, aka Lock and Grace, aka Little Sister. Most of the time, the POV is from Grace, but we do get Miller’s POV every now and then. We follow their story from the first meeting, to their next meeting and then beyond.
It is a thrilling ride, with lots of ups and downs, and the back stories to the main characters full and complete. I can’t think of one question that was left unanswered for me, or a storyline. All the characters outside of Miller and Grace, I thought were well written and had plenty of dimension. The whole world building was very believable, and descriptions were kept to what was only needed. So there was no fluffy filler, as I like to call it.
I found myself really feeling some of the emotions from these characters, as it was easy to immerse myself into this book. I found myself smiling one minute, and the next I wanted to knock someone’s block off (in other words, smack some sense in to them).
I recommend if you want a high octane MC romance, with plenty of action, but not grossly done. I’m in for the next ride.
Lock and Key was an intense story with really unique and broken characters that pulled me in. It was a raw and gritty second chance romance and I was consumed by this world, the culture, and the dynamics taking place. An excellent read!
I didn’t want to put this book down. It brought me to tears. Grace is one bada$$ old lady. She did everything for the club. Loved her sweet and sassiness. She has heartbreak throughout her life. Miller is one sexy and protective alpha. Their chemistry was intense from the start. On to the next book.
Cat Porter Lock & Key books, all of them. What can I say. They’re simply more than you expect. Truly great read.
4.5 stars
I’m late getting into the series, but I’m so glad I finally did.
This is more than your typical MC series, the characters are flawed, but mature in the way they handle their baggage, no contrived angst here! The events in their lives and the things they’ve had to endure are cause enough for angst, I’m glad the author gave us solid, mature, believable characters.
So many wonderful side characters, I can hardly wait to dive into the other’s stories.
I highly recommend you don’t pass this one by.
When I saw the cover of Iron and Bone I was stopped in my tracks. Yes I’m a cover whore and I like to look at pretty things, I’m shallow like that.
I clicked on the book links and find this amazing series unfortunately I couldn’t read the hot cover book yet as it is the third book in the series.
I gushed so much about this hot cover on my book club page that I had a lot of the other girl one clicking also and loving the series as well.
So I stared with Lock and Key and I seriously was not disappointed.
This is an amazing beginning to a great series. Dig, Lock and Grace whom the book is centered around are worthy characters of having a story about them.
This will make you crave more, but it will bring you closer to the hot cover of Iron and Bone. One book down, one more to go and you will arrive at Iron and Bone. The cover that started my obsession.
I’ll be honest…at first it took me a minute to get into this story but I am glad I stuck with it because wow! I couldn’t put it down once I got into it!! Most of the characters are in their late 30’s or early 40’s and that is so refreshing! This story is about love – past & present, sacrifice, loyalty, loss and redemption. It is about family, the kind you are born into and the kind you choose. I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters! On to the next book in the series!!
Lock And Key is an intriguing and gritty MC suspense filled with secrets, heartbreak, and revenge. It’s intense and thrilling as Lock and Grace take us on a dangerous and wild ride with plenty of red hot chemistry, and shocking twists that you won’t want to miss!
Love this book and the series
This was probably wildest, craziest ride to go on. There were so many ups, downs, twists, and turns. At times I was a little confused with the back and forth from present to past, but overall it was an entertaining story.
I am completely head over heals in love with this book! This entire series! I’ve read this book/series at least 3 times now and it’s so good! It’s one that I’ll read again and again. Grace has been on the move for the past 16 years. She meets a sexy Native American man in a bar when she stopped to have a drink on her way back to her home town when she got the news her sister isn’t doing good. His name was Miller and he is sexy AF!! After their 1 night stand Grace takes off before Miller wakes up after she sees the tattoo on his back and his MC cut she didn’t see the night before. The same MC her dead husband Dig was a part of. She freaked. When her sister needs a bone marrow transplant, she goes to the MC that was such a huge part of her life during her high school days and beyond to ask them for their help. And of course she knew she’d end up seeing Miller. It gets very complicated after that.
This book is written with a maturity that I don’t often see. It’s graceful and flows so well. It’s heartbreaking, soul shattering and beautiful. I have 2 MC series that are my favorites of all time. It’s a toss up for me which one is #1 but this series is one of them. If you love MC romance, this series will blow your mind! I HIGHLY recommend it!
Holy. Shit. That pretty much sums up my thoughts on Lock & Key. But let’s take it a step at a time.
This is a gritty kind of story. It’s raw. It’s dark. It’s freakin’ fantastic. It’s so engagingly written that you can’t stop reading even when you are hating what’s happening and don’t really want to read anymore.
An Old Lady in her previous life, Grace aka Little Sister left her home and never looks back after tragedy left her broken on the side of a road. When her sister falls seriously ill, she has no option but to go back and be there for her. On the way, a couple of hours away from her hometown, she meets a stranger in a bar. Their chemistry is unbelievable and Grace and Miller share a steamy hot night together. Unbeknownst to her, Miller’s road name is Lock and is a member of the MC she left behind 16 years before. Thrown back into that life, she’ll have to face new hardships and consequences that have been brewing since the heartbreaking end of her happiness. As the author takes us on a back and forth journey of Grace’s life we see how her former life influences and shapes her present and how she must struggle to rise above and not lose herself in the process.
This is not a heart and flowers story, it’s rough and twisted and even though I hated many of the choices they made I simply couldn’t stop reading. There is a warning I’d give as this might be a turn off for many people (it usually is for me) View Spoiler » As I said, even when you don’t agree with their choices, and you want to slap them, in the head, with a chair, you just have to keep on reading.
I can’t say this book was lovely, but I did love it. I was completely into the story, I connected with the characters, and you can feel they are real people, with real people’s faults, vices, struggles and difficulties.
It is still a love story, and I was overjoyed at how after everything is worked out. The author gives us time to see the couple settle and just be together and then she gave me that epilogue (the girls don’t call me the Epilogue Nazi for nothing). It was perfect, because after that rough ride you just need a bit of sweet, and you are left with a smile on your face.
Ms. Porter, I am now a fan, and I’m sure I’ll be as amazed and horrified and engaged and speechless and in love with everything you write.
I won this book in a FB party, I had never heard of Cat Porter before reading this. This book is so beautiful, I couldn’t put it down! A chance meeting, A mystery, A love triangle, Hot scenes, romance, bikers, club life. This book has it all and the writing was amazing. Cat Porter has a new reader among her faithful followers! I’m hooked and I can’t wait to read more about the club members in the other books.
Great book. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series
Wow That was some mc read
Right from the beginning, you’re pulled in like reading someone’s memoirs drawing you in with a wanting to know more about Grace, who she is and how she got to be the woman she is.
A woman in her 40’s with a deep raw history leading to the present day.
An emotional gritty journey that drags Grace back onto a life she once fled finding love again along the way.
A quality read filled with deep emotional words & brilliantly written.
Motorcycle club & second chances… this book opens up a whole world. Not your average heroine & you leave with MANY new character in your heart. Edgy, smart, painful, dangerous, sexy & addictive .
Actual Rating 3.75
I am pretty surprised by this book. I didn’t think I was going to like it, but I really got into the story and enjoyed all of Grace’s flashbacks. I’m a sucker for a MC novel and this one is no exception. I really liked Grace and Miller. I liked the connection they shared. It was not simple or easy. Most of the time things were very complicated between them and club business got in between what they both wanted, but damn if the chemistry wasn’t off the charts whenever they were in vicinity of each other. That’s what I loved.
Grace was also so dedicated to her family. I truly loved how much she was willing to do for her sister and her nephew. The love she had for her sister and the close relationship that never waived through thick and thin was amazing.
Even though this love story is mostly about Grace and Miller I couldn’t but love her flashbacks to the time she shared with Dig. These flashbacks were the best. It tells the reader how Grace became involved with the club and how everything comes full circle to the now. The relationship Grace had with Dig melted my heart and I really loved it. It makes her relationship with Miller in the present that much sweeter. I loved it all.
Lock & Key was surprisingly good. The ending was something I was not expecting. I never saw any of that going down the way it did. The romance was good. The story was very well done even if I didn’t care for the way Jump treated Grace and basically pimped her out for the club, but whatever. I really liked this book and now I’m very excited to read the rest of the books in the series.
