Entire Steele Ridge Series is worth the read.
I won a copy of this book from the author, I was not required to give a favorable review. If you have read any of the Steel Ridge series you will understand the characters in this book. I have read the previous ones which help you to understand everything that is going on in the town. This one touches on Reid Steele, ex-military guy, because of injury trying to figure out what to do with his life. He run into the little sister of a girl that graduated with him and find he is attracted. Brianna is home after going off to college, getting married and then divorced to a man who cheated on her. But to add insult to injury he wanted an annulment so she is able to open her shop with the money from her ex. But now her best friend has been shot, then her shop in broken into. But she has a five year no man plan but it’s not working with Reid around. But then they are trying to figure out who killed her friend. Love it, keeps you on your toes through the whole book.
Fantastic!! This is my favorite so far in the Steele Ridge series! Reid is looking for some direction in his life after being discharged from the service. Brynne is newly divorced and has no interest in men for at least 5 yrs. Needless to say that plan goes terribly wrong once she meet Reid! LOL! This story was exciting, intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat. It also has funny parts that will have you laughing out loud! This story is the whole package if your a lover of romantic suspense.
Good book. Although a few times you wanted to smack the ‘hero’ upside the head to get him to get his life together & choose the life in front of him.
This is book #3 in the Steele Ridge series, but the second full-length book. The first, Steele Ridge: The Beginning, is a very short novella that gives an introduction to how the whole Steele Ridge project got started. The second, Going Hard, is the story of Grif, second oldest in the Steele clan. This one is Reid’s story. He’s a washed up Green Beret, his words, who is at loose ends. He never thought he’d return to Canyon Ridge, now Steele Ridge, for any length of time. He certainly never planned on settling down there. Heck, he never planned on settling down anywhere. But due to a knee injury, his military career is over and he’s got to figure out where his life is going. In the meantime, the Baby Billionaire has bought the whole darn town and needs Reid to help build a training center for law enforcement. It’s not a question of whether or not he can; it’s a question of whether or not he wants to.
Brynne is fresh off of a divorce and has returned home to Steele Ridge. She’s opened up a high-end boutique and is trying to get her life back together. She’s devised a five-year plan which doesn’t include a male anywhere. Nope, she’s done with that. She’s going to concentrate on herself and her business. There’s only one male she really has an interest in and that’s her best friend since elementary school, Nelson. It’s strictly platonic. Now that she’s back home she’s able to spend quality time with him. Until he’s shot in front of her store. In front of her. Now he’s on life support, all sorts of strange things are happening, and she’s caught in the middle of it all.
In this one, the action begins almost from the very beginning. Reid and Brynne know of each other, but don’t really know each other. Reid is six years older and they never ran in the same crowd when they were in Steele Ridge. The sarcasm between the Steele siblings is top notch and you can’t help but laugh. You also can’t help but envy a family like that. The town is small with all the charms a small town has. It has its share of busybodies which makes it all the more fun. This is a sweet story mixed in with some drama and suspense.
