The world ended and nothing was the same, and in this new order he’d changed his name to Raider—because he took what he wanted.Women were scarce in post-apocalyptic California and if you found one you wanted, you had to immediately claim what was yours. So when a desperate beauty with striking green eyes and legs that went on for miles stepped into the dangerous all-male compound, he wasn’t above … wasn’t above tying her up for her own safety in his isolated mountain cabin, until she realized the truth of their bond. And him getting his seed in her and swelling her up with his kid? Perfect.
She’d see he was doing this all for her.
Eventually.
Author’s Note: This is book #3 in the series, but can be read as a standalone. This story includes dark themes—only read if you enjoy obsessed stalker heroes.

In a post apocalyptic California.
Raider, formerly Owen Pearce, deputy sheriff, is now sort of undercover in gang of dudes doing bad things. He’s still a protector a year after the world has changed due to a rampant Ebola outbreak.
Women are scarce and when Smith’s boys bring a new group of women to the lodge, Kati is among them. Raider decides she’s his. And so he procures her.
But can he keep her?
There’s a remote cabin, two kittens, an illness and a revelation from Raider’s past.
What I thought was well done?
That it was set in real places in California, it could theoretically happen (Ebola is fierce) and still with character development.
Recommend.

It is a awesome story with the type of setting of post apocalyptic. It does have mentions of a violent nature but what post apocalyptic story won’t. It is definately a read of what could happen in the future. I love how the characters are and how they came to be is sad but it is one of the few ways that one could actually meet the other. The way to their HEA is so bittersweet that I am intrigued to read more from this author.

A fairly short book and the first time I’ve read anything by this author, so I wasn’t too sure what to expect. Although it’s book 3 in the series the author says it can be read as a standalone and so I took a chance. I t can be read without having read any of the previous two books in the series, but I think reading them might make this book more enjoyable. There really isn’t much world or character building in this book and so I can’t help but wonder if all that was done in the previous books. That being said, it is an interesting and enjoyable read so I’m interested in not only the earlier books but also any that follow this one.

Man-End of the world…she’s hot so she’s mine. Steals her from a bunch of worse men…rapes her in order to get her pregnant.
Woman-End of the world, captured by very bad men, kidnapped by less bad man. Raped repeatedly for pregnancy because he thinks she’s hot, and she always wanted a husband and children so everything is a-ok.

He finally cashes his reality check
Live for You, book 3 in Michele Mills’ Catastrophe series, is billed as a dark post-apocalyptic romance. The blurb is full of warnings about obsessed stalker heroes, kidnapping, etc. With all that grim and dire, I nearly passed on the offered ARC (Thanks, MM) But I’ve read Michele Mills before, and she typically does a bang-up job with dark themes, so I said, OK. I’m glad I did. It isn’t quite as dark and grim as I was lead to believe; in fact, the hero is a truly likable guy – for an unhinged obsessed head case. He used to be Owen Pearce. He used to be a deputy sheriff. He used to be a husband and a father. A drunk driver killed his wife and child, and the Ebola pandemic shattered the rest of his world. Such horrific losses can – and do – drive men mad. So he becomes Raider, hangs out with a gang of sicko white supremacist rapists, and tries to survive. But you can’t keep a good man down: he tries to help and protect the gang’s female victims. When Kati shows up at the hideout, he takes one look and decides she’s the woman he wants for himself. What sounds like a crazed obsession is actually the beginning of healing, because he’s thinking wife, marriage, babies, and a lifetime. Hope returns. His grief and loss-addled emotions translate into some seriously alpha behavior, like, chains and sex on demand. But Kati noticed him from the get-go, and when he “rescues” her she doesn’t object, exactly. She surely doesn’t object to the marathon sex sessions. Doesn’t seem too stressed over his “gotta get you pregnant” project. She’s not too keen on the kidnap and chain-up, and does her best to express her distress with words. When that fails to penetrate the alpha- fog, she escapes. He recaptures her, and the second verse goes a little more harmoniously than the first. Then he inadvertently discovers the flaw in his “only I can protect my woman” logic, and it all goes miserably sideways. In the end, Raider finds sanity, love, and Kati, and their post-apocalypse has an HEA and a future. The author does a remarkable job of making us understand that insanity may be an excusable response to life in an insane world, letting us understand and forgive just as her hero and heroine learn to do.
What would you do if the Earth were devastated? Raider did exactly what his named implied. Women being a scarce commodity. If you found one you had to claim what was yours. Will Raider claim the green eyed beauty? Or will she run to get away from the Viking hunk? Loved these two and the story line. Excellent read.
How would you be changed after a plague wipes out 99% of the population including your family and friends? This book really made me think about that because Raider and Kati have gone through that very thing. Raider is tall, about 6’3″ with blonde hair, blue eyes, beard and a big, muscular tattoo’d body. Kati is tall, slender and has some self worth issues due to her past. Are there elements of this story that are hard? Yes but I feel it would be accurate if this situation actually happened. I believed in this couple and rooted for them to the very end.
