Enjoy this beautiful and charming classic book about true sibling relationships. ‘Rich or poor, we will keep together and be happy in one another’ Christmas won’t be the same this year for Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, as their father is away fighting in the Civil War, and the family has fallen on hard times. But although they may be poor, life for the four March sisters is rich with colour, as they … is rich with colour, as they play games, put on wild theatricals, make new friends, argue, grapple with their vices, learn from their mistakes, nurse each other through sickness and disappointments, and get into all sorts of trouble.
BACKSTORY: Learn all about the author’s life and how it inspired her famous story, and find out which of the March sisters you most resemble!

This is such a classic book that I hadn’t read until recently. It has sat on my shelf for years until I was finally challenged to read some of the books I owned by never read. Some classics can be hard reads due to the very formal language and the way of speaking we just don’t have anymore. This book was not that way. Personally I found it easy to read and enjoyed (most) of the characters.
Still one of my favourite classics.
I have enjoyed reading, and re-reading this book since I was in grade school. Each time, I see a new facet of this great piece of literature.
Recently reread this as an adult. Readers still argue over whether Jo is a heroine, a feminist, or neither. It is enjoying its 150th anniversary and I would recommend it most definitely. Knowing more about Alcott’s life makes the experience all the more rich.
A classic. Everyone should read this book. You never forget it.
A classic, showing the lives of girls radically raised (for the Civil War era) to believe that woman have an active role as teachers and opinion makers, and that they require physically active lives and interests of their own. They are not feminists, but they are positive women in a difficult time.
I gave it 5 * because I have read it many times and enjoyed it every time. This is my requirement for giving 5 *s.
A classic every girl should enjoy!
A book I have read more than once and recently bought for a grandchild.
As wonderful to read again as it was when I was younger. Good books never get old.
A great classic to re-read as an adult!
My favorite since 10yrs old.I still reread it !
Wonderful classic.
I have read and reread LITTLE WOMEN probably over one hundred times. Jo March is still one of my favorite characters and I still shed tears for Beth. Marmee is the perfect novel mother. The family unity, the roller coaster ups and downs of everyday life are the fabric of this novel.
A great classic!!!
Wonderful!
Classic
Timeless story that makes me cry every time I reread it.
This novel will forever hold a place in my heart, with all the rest of Louisa May Alcott’s books.
I have read this so many times and I still love it and I still learn things from it.
