Enjoy this beautiful and charming classic book about true sibling relationships. ‘Rich or poor, we will keep together and be happy in one another’ Christmas won’t be the same this year for Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, as their father is away fighting in the Civil War, and the family has fallen on hard times. But although they may be poor, life for the four March sisters is rich with colour, as they … is rich with colour, as they play games, put on wild theatricals, make new friends, argue, grapple with their vices, learn from their mistakes, nurse each other through sickness and disappointments, and get into all sorts of trouble.
BACKSTORY: Learn all about the author’s life and how it inspired her famous story, and find out which of the March sisters you most resemble!

I first read this book 70 years ago when I was eight. It was my first chapter book and I read it many times over the years. Movie adaptations have increased my love of Miss Alcott and all of her books.
One of my all time favorites. Read it many times as a child. Great read.
I have read this book at least three or four times, and I look forward to reading it again. Although it seems to be a book for women and young girls, I believe men and boys can appreciate it as well. Louisa May Alcott has written this book that will be popular till the end of time
I love the book and highly recommend it.
This was one of my childhood favorites and I recently reread it and loved it even more!
Having enjoyed the recent film, it’s a great time to read (or reread) this classic tale – it reverberates with historic gender stereotyping and strong women breaking those molds! I’m enjoying the written version for character insights and for the exceptional family warmth generated by a wonderful mom and her daughters!
I hadn’t read this since I was young, so it’s been a good 20 years, but I loved it now more than I ever did then! The story, the morals, the values, the relationships, all of it is timeless.
Have not read this pratiacular edition but first read Little Women when i was about 12 and have read it several times from beginning to end several times since then. Wish that everyone would read it at some point in their life. it is a timeless story of life as a family.
I 100% see why this is a classic novel. It’s such a wonderful story of family, love, hardship, acceptance, change, suffering, forgiveness and goodness. It was easy to follow (unlike a lot of other classics) and know what’s going on in the story without any confusion. I’d recommend it to anyone, for any reason!
Little Women is a fantastic tale of romance and family and events that can happen throughout daily life. It’s enthralling, and I know you’ll love it if you haven’t already read it.
It’s a classic that every girl should read. Women have come a long way since Victorian times but we’ve a ways yet to go.
A favorite!
A classic before people had television. Rich vs poor. Book does encourage t=the reader to think more about character of people, which seems to be a lost art today.
Little women was a very interesting read and I really loved the characters and the different ideas or stories from chapter to chapter it’s great I really love it
I have read this book several times throughout the years. It is one book that you can read over and over and still enjoy it.
A heart-warming, tear-inducing read as always. I’ve forgotten how wonderfully sweet this story is, and after re-reading it have been thoroughly reminded of why it has always been my favorite book; the story of the March sisters, and their dear friend Laurie, always holding a special place in my heart. It’s an inspirational story with much in the way of solid advice that can be used to help one through many a tough spot in life. Yet even more than that it’s a sweet reminder of the importance of family, love, and true happiness. I have read this book at least 10 times since I was in 4th grade. I love it. It made me realize my passion for writing.
(This is not an edition I own; neither of the ones I have are shown on Bookbub as an option.)
I read this for the first time at the age of nine. I just read it again for the ?? time at age sixty-nine. Still delights! That says it all.
This is a classic and a must-read!
I really enjoy reading this book. It was original and unlike most books I read. I really liked it because it was about 4 sisters growing up together becoming the best young women they could be whilst their dad is in the army.
Every well read person should read Louisa May Alcott. Her ghost stories are fun too.
