Ten years ago, my high school crush found me during senior finals week in the student parking lot with my car decorated with items you find behind a drugstore counter and a “Most Likely to…” banner that would make a pro blush. And by “pro,” I don’t mean golf.In under an hour, everything I knew about myself was turned upside down and inside out, just as our high school career was in its final … was in its final hours.
Then again, he’s the high school quarterback. He’s used to performing when the clock’s running out.
Me? I perform well under pressure, too.
But not when Will Lotham is about to kiss me.
Or is he?
Little Miss Perfect is a prequel to the events that take place in Fluffy, New York Times bestselling author Julia Kent’s new book. It can be read on its own, without having read Fluffy.

Super cute prequel for Fluffy!! I’m so glad we got to see how Will & Mallory interacted in high school, and how there was some competition between the two of them. And I loved that we got to see Mallory’s crush!
This is a prequel to Fluffy. It gives us an insight into Mal and Will’s characters as they finish high school. A conversation shared between them is enough to whet the appetite for the full story.
As a first time reader of Kent, I have to say I’m impressed by her prequel novella featuring awkward, somewhat nerdy, Mallory and her high school crush, Will. Set mostly in a school parking lot between classes, Kent drags you into the world of teenage angst and creates all the feels between what could happen with your high school crush just hours before your teenage years end.
Will has been the object of Mallory’s affection for over four years, so when he approaches her only an hour before the test that will determine their fate, she believes everything but that he actually wants to kiss her. Mallory is everything I was in high school. Awkward, nerdy and absolutely scared to step one second out of her designated box to what could happen. So when a chance of a lifetime is dropped at her feet, what would she do other than run away?
Although the past always has a way of catching up to you right? Find out what happens next in Fluffy, as Mallory and Will’s story continues ten years later.
This is a super short prequel to Fluffy. This book leads up to all the events that happen to Mallory in Fluffy. It doesn’t necessarily have to be read in order to just jump to Fluffy.
Little Miss Perfect takes you back in time to the days of High School. It introduces Mallery, her two best friends and Will, her long time crush. You get a younger version of all the characters in the book. If you’re interested in how just one event may have predicted the future in a completing embarrassing but hilarious way, you’ll really enjoy reading this one.
Julia Kent will always make you laugh with and love the characters she creates. This prelude to Fluffy is no different. Mallory is adorable in her brainy insecure way. And Will is an enigma is his sharp, smart and oh so sexy way. High school is a terror for a lot of people and especially those who are not with the IT crowd. Will is in that crowd and Mallory is not. she pines for Will through all of her teenage years and believes he does not even know she exists.
Their interaction on the last day of finals is so much fun! Thanks in part to her dorky friends with a warped sense of humor.
I was rooting for them through this whole novella! This makes anticipating Fluffy so much better.
WICKEDLY CUTE!!!
Title: Little Miss Perfect
Author: Julia Kent
My Rating: Four Wickedly Cute Stars****
I adore Julia Kent as an author and literally devour everything she writes. It always makes me laugh, which in turn always makes me feel better, and Little Miss Perfect was no exception! This adorably funny short story introduces Mallory and Will, the two protagonists of Kent’s newest romantic comedy, Fluffy, and takes place 10 years in the past, with both characters as seniors competing against the other to be class valedictorian. And the competition is fierce, along with the typical senior pranks! Yup, been there! Except I wasn’t voted most likely to become a porn star! lol… No spoilers from me! You’ll just have to read the book! This delicious little prelude between Mallory and Will can be read as a prequel to Fluffy. In this reviewer’s humble opinion, Little Miss Perfect is not a standalone and should only be read in conjunction with Fluffy. It will certainly give you a taste of what’s to come between these two former complete opposite high school rivals: shy, super-smart, nerdy, good girl vs wealthy, success-driven football hero/prom king! No spoilers from me, but I will say it’s hilarious!
So, did I like Little Miss Perfect? You bet! Would I recommend it? Absolutely! It’s well written, as always, and wickedly cute, but I recommend reading it only as a prequel to Fluffy. And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I can hardly wait to read the rest of Will and Mallory’s story!
This short read takes place over about a couple of hours when our heroine, Mallory, finally meets and talks to her 4-year crush, Will, right before their last high school final exam. In spite of massive butterflies flapping in her stomach while she and Will are talking in the parking lot, she remains true to herself, i.e. she utters a few things that have a double entendre effect on Will, which has him laughing out loud, especially when he sees how her friends have “decorated” her car! We meet Sassy Persephone and Feisty Fiona, who are quick to protect their friend from Will, who happens to be competing with Mallory for valedictorian. There are sparks between Mallory and Will, but will we find out in this prequel, or Fluffy, whether there’s ignition?
I like how easy was to read this book. Also, Mallory’s friends are so hilarious. I highly recommend this book to spend a few hours relaxing and having fun.
Up front I need to disclose I love all of Julia Kent’s series and books. She makes me laugh & cry but always touches my heart. Her books are very creative & always on spot for whatever zany antics her characters do or say. Little Miss Perfect does not disappoint! It’s another home run for Julia!
Mallory & Will, main characters of FLUFFY, Julia Kent’s upcoming book, run in different social circles. Will is driven, from a weathy family, the most popular young man in his class- Captain of the Football team, Prom King, founded a food bank & super smart. Mallory is the naive, shy, geeky brainiac everyone in Will’s circle called “Little Miss Perfect”! Will was Mallory’s secret crush through high school, but their only meaningful conversation occurred the last day of final exams out in the parking lot. They are competing for the Valedictorian of the graduating class, so seeing Will pay attention to Mallory, her friends immediately conclude Will is only trying to psych her out before her final exam!
A quick yet highly entertaining, sweetly emotional, fun and flirty beginning to this dynamically fun relationship. Loved getting to see this first time interaction between these two and the high school moment that set them on the path to the adventure that awaits ahead. Loved it!
It was a cute little story to set the tone for Fluffy!
It gives the back story of Mal and Will.
SO CUTE!
Audio review: This is a prequel to Fluffy. Erin Mallon, the narrator does an excellent job with this fun short. Loved this series and the audio brings a great listen for a book I enjoyed previously in hard copy. Start here and go for the whole series.
Read this originally as chapters. The release of a novella is a pleasant surprise. This story is background for the newest series starting with Fluffy. These stories are fun and the humor is outstanding. The best part this novella is free at the moment. Grab it!
Cute prequel that makes me interested in the next book when it comes out.
