’OMG what can I say? This is the first book I have read by Carol Wyer and I find it very hard to believe that this is her first thriller. I was totally hooked from the first page and the suspense kept delivering all the way through the book right to the last page with several red herrings to keep the reader guessing. This is a very special book that has all the makings of a bestseller and I eagerly await the next in the series.’ All Things Books

‘This was certainly a gripping read, Carol Wyer presents the reader with a large jigsaw puzzle, or that’s what it feels like I found myself constantly wondering how the pieces would fit together, but the author very skilfully puts them all together in the most spectacular way. I will certainly read the next book in the series without hesitation.’ The Book Review Cafemore
I highly recommend this author and this book. It has kept me guessing the whole way through . This is an English author so some things are definitely English based bit the characters are so interesting. Couldn’t put it down.
This is a book full of twists and turns. It’s dark and messes with your head and you can’t be sure who’s telling the truth and who’s lying. I enjoyed this first book of DI Robin, she’s a woman with flaws, anger and regrets. She and every other character in this book felt believable. And, even if there are happen horrible things and a lot of people are getting killed, there is some understanding to the why it did happen. It gives an inside to the mind and thinking of a broken child and how one incident can change a whole life. Good job on the writing and I’m looking forward to the next book in this series. “Little Girl Lost” is highly recommended to everyone loving dark, mind twisting thrillers.
he implications of child abuse are well-documented thanks to modern news outlets, and this focuses on one aspect of the aftermath of abuse for those closest to it, including the victim. The opening is shocking (be warned if easily offended), but those who enjoy dark thrillers will love it! 5 stars from me.
Lots of twists and turns in this book. I really enjoyed reading it.
Interesting story line showing the devastating fallout of early abuse. This whodunit keeps its secret almost all the way to the end.
Hard to put down, finished it n had to order her next one
When a young child is the center of a story, the anti is raised. This book had me reading far into the night. A real page turner, with characters I could relate to and cared about.
Not much. This book was not for me
loved the huge twists!
I enjoyed this book. It kept you interested.
Carol Wyer has another hit with this series! Read it straight through. Crimes against children and long held family secrets never bode well. There is a fair amount of death and destruction here, but the author does a remarkable job with putting all into a sensivle and highly readable book.
* As another poster mentioned, it would have been a good idea to have a sex assualt warning. There are a few scenes that would definetey trigger some if they are not preared for it. jmo
Enjoyed this British thriller with some unexpected twists thrown in. Immediately went to second book in series and enjoyed it also
THE JIGSAW WAY IT WAS WRITTEN, SO BACK AND FORTH, I FOUND IT DISTRACTING TO THE POINT I WASN’T SURE I WOULD FINISH READING.
This book had lots of twists and turns and kept my interest from the beginning. I have already read # 2 in this series and have signed up to get # 3 when it comes out in 9/2017.
A haunting look at what happens when sexual abuse of a young girl goes ignored.
This isnt a romance.. It about a detective who suffered the loss of her fiance which also resulted in the miscarriage of their child. She is currently on leave working for her cousins PI business while she gets over her losses. She is asked to talk to the wife of a missing teacher and also around that time a popular wealthy man is murdered.
The book starts off in the past with 9-year-old Alice begging her mother not to leave her. After losing her husband her grief and lack of finances has her latching onto a rich actor and moving into his house with his two kids. The young son is the one that is sexually abusing Alice and no one believes her. Her mother withholds all love and affection from Alice even more when they are kicked out of the house after Alice takes things into her own hands to stop the boy from abusing her.
There are three stories going on in the present – The missing teacher Lucas, the murder of Paul Matthews and Abigail a wife and mother whose marriage is in trouble and who is getting threatening text about something in her past. All of Alice’s story is told in the past through the book.
Looking forward to more of this authors books
This was a well written book with a surprise ending. Or I at least was surprised.
I recommend it to anyone who likes out there mystery or thrills.
it was a good book, however there were so many characters that I had to go back several times to figure out who was who.
After the first couple of chapters, I debated not finishing the book, the topic was disgusting to me and the helplessness of the victim made me uncomfortable. But I kept at it because at each chapter, the characters changed. I have to admit that I was thoroughly confused about who was the killer! Each character had their secrets and the killer’s thoughts were all in Italics – but which person did the thoughts belong too? The more I read, the further into the book, gave me only more questions. Then the book jumps from the killer to the detective and back again so it ended up being a quite interesting book. Oh, let’s face it, I stayed up past midnight last night just to finish it and find out what happened!!
I actually listened to this book in my car while in a trip. Loved the reader. Think I might try to get the audible for her next one, which I have purchased. It was fast paced and I enjoyed it very much.
