All it takes is one phone call to change your life.Miranda Riley is a blackjack dealer in Las Vegas when she receives a call from the police that her mother, Eve, is missing. She rushes home to Little Feather, Oklahoma, hoping to quickly find her mother so she can return to her life in the big city. But once Miranda begins to search for her, she finds there is much more to Little Feather and her … Little Feather and her mother than she originally thought. First, the city is an oasis for supernatural creatures, and secondly, her mother was the Paranormal Investigator who kept them all in line.
As a P.I., it was her mother’s job to make sure the paranormal creatures stayed out of view from humans and didn’t commit any crimes. But now that she’s gone that’s changing.
Miranda finds herself caught up in a world she never knew existed. She needs to find her mother before paranormal things get out of hand in Little Feather, and two very attractive men are willing to help her.

I was surprised that I really enjoyed reading this book about Miranda Riley who is a blackjack dealer in Las Vegas and goes back to her home town of Little Feather after she receives a call from the police saying that her mother, Eve is missing. Miranda never knew what her mother’s job was but she left the house when she was young at all hours and now Miranda will find out what her mother has been doing and meets a lot of unusual people on the search for her mother. Will be reading more in this series as a way to escape to a different town from everything during our shutdown & confinement.
This is the first time Dianne Harman has written a paranormal cozy mystery to my knowledge. It was great!! And this is just the beginning of a new series.
Miranda got a call that her Mom was missing and had to drive back to the little town of Little Feather to see if she could find her. While looking she found out that the town she grew up in was not exactly as she thought it was–and her Mom was a PI BUT–PI was not what she thought those initials stood for either.
With the help of a witch, a were wolf and various other creatures that she never knew really were real she was finally able to find her Mom!
Her Mom wants to retire and wants Miranda to take over her job–will she? Will she give up her normal life in Las Vegas, stay in Little Feather and take over for her. I guess we will know for certain when the next in the series comes out!! I for one can’t wait.
Paranormal is not usually my cup of tea but if Dianne Harman is going cozy with it, I’m in!
Miranda Riley lives in Las Vegas working as a blackjack dealer. She receives a call from Jack Winslow who is the Chief of Police in Little Feather, OK where she’s from. Her mother still lives there and Jack informs Miranda that she’s missing. Eve is a PI and it could be related to a case she’s working on.
So Miranda drives home and finds a world she’s unfamiliar with. After meeting several people in town and finding out new things about her mom, as well as others, she’s on her way to hopefully finding Eve.
I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline! The ending was satisfying and left me wanting to know what’s going to happen next. The narrator, Krystal Doolittle, is also the co-author and did a wonderful job!

I think Dianne Harman is a very talented author and I love her cozy mysteries, so when I saw she that she had branched out into a different genre I was keen to give it ago. She has tackled this in the same style and manner making it a great little mystery just packed full of paranormal creatures. I like the paranormal twist to the story and think it makes for a interesting listen, as well as great characters. The story also contains the cute little dog and a budding romance. The world the author creates is one hidden in secret and not even the main character knew of its existence, so I enjoyed discovering it with her. The story also contains the cute little dog and a budding romance. Looking forward to more adventures in little Feather.
Miranda was glad to leave Little Feather and the mother who was to busy for her own daughter far behind her when she turned of age. That is until she gets a phone call from the sheriff claiming that her mother has gone missing. On the surface not much as changed since she left but an unexpected discovery sets Miranda world spinning. The sleep little town isn’t as quiet as she thinks and her mother was a bit part of. Miranda has to learn quickly if she hopes to find her mother still alive. But just who can she trust when everybody has there own secrets to hid? And why didn’t her mother tell her that P.I stands for paranormal investigator and not private investigator?
I liked the narrator, she did a good job of weaving a spell over you so you couldn’t stop until you had finished the book.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
