In the bestselling tradition of Jojo Moyes and Jennifer Weiner, Jenny Colgan’s moving, funny, and unforgettable novel tells the story of a heartbroken young woman who turns a new page in her life . . . by becoming a baker in the town of Cornwall
A quiet seaside resort. An abandoned shop. A small flat. This is what awaits Polly Waterford when she arrives at the Cornish coast, fleeing a ruined … ruined relationship.
To keep her mind off her troubles, Polly throws herself into her favorite hobby: making bread. But her relaxing weekend diversion quickly develops into a passion. As she pours her emotions into kneading and pounding the dough, each loaf becomes better than the last. Soon, Polly is working her magic with nuts and seeds, chocolate and sugar, and the local honey—courtesy of a handsome beekeeper. Packed with laughter and emotion, Little Beach Street Bakery is the story of how one woman discovered bright new life where she least expected—a heartwarming, mouthwatering modern-day Chocolat that has already become a massive international bestseller.

Little Beach Street Bakery was a delightful read. I became immersed in Polly’s life, wanting to know who she’d wind up with, what would happen to the sweet little puffling, whether or not her bakery business would take off and sustain her, and if she would choose to make Mount Polbearne her permanent home. The story satisfies all of these …
This was my first time reading one of Jenny Colgan’s books and I’m now a fan. Loved the characters, the seaside setting, and how main character Polly transforms the dilapidated flat and bakery into something all her own. A great read!
Good bread is hard to find. Getting just the right texture, density, crust, aroma, and flavor is a talent that I personally don’t have. I do have a tiny handful of places I know of that can deliver perfection. Too bad this book is a work of fiction; I want to add it to my list. I want to crawl inside the pages and devour every perfect morsel the …
An excellent story with wonderful characters (including a puffin!) that takes place on the most fascinating island off the coast of England. Jenny Colgan does such a wonderful job that you feel as if you are right there on the island and are experiencing it yourself. And as always she has included recipes! A must read for the entire series!!
The Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan is the perfect beach read: new romance, beak-up, cozy setting, and wonderful characters. Polly suffers from a bad breakup and a failed business, so her solution is to find work that fulfills her. Kudos to that! This character driven story will have you rooting for Polly and Neil –her rescued Puffin– …
A very enjoyable read. Enjoyed all the characters!
As always, Jenny Colgan delivers a beautiful story with memorable characters, and realistic flaws and lives. Sad, funny, emotional and inspiring, this was a wonderful book. The addition of song lyrics to one of my favourite Canadian bands, which fit so perfectly with the emotion of the scenes, brought tears to my eyes, and gave me more of an …
I needed a relaxing read for this stressful summer and found just what the doctor ordered in Little Beach Street Bakery. It takes place on a small island in Cornwall where people must come and go based on the tides. The locals are quirky characters who don’t always make Polly’s already complicated life easy, but watching her persevere through the …
Loved this book.
This was a wonderful read. The characters were so well done that you could see yourself living next door to them. I can’t wait to read the next two books.
I love this books about a woman starting over who loves to bake and adopts a puffin named Neil. I adore this author’s work. Reading a Jenny Colgan book is like taking a vacation with your favorite people.
Enjoyed the setting and having a love interest or two for the main character and even a ghost.

Good book, could get into characters that would be just like your own friends!
Cornwall, romantic, baker, contemporary, life-changes, library-audiobook, life-lessons
Excellent read from an author I’ve never encountered. Had to laugh at myself after I got into the story as the book was recommended by my library and I had just finished reading the Corinna Chapman series about a second career baker! Polly’s life and …
It has some bad language in it. I almost put it down, but I was too invested and had to see how the story ended. I will NOT be reading the rest of the series though because of the language.
Great little series with likable characters and some drama thrown in for good measure!
I love the whole series!!
