Talking to other people isn’t Kate Bailey’s favorite activity. She’d much rather be out on the lake, soaking up the solitude and sunshine. So when her best friend, Alana, convinces Kate to join their high school’s podcast, Kate is not expecting to be chosen as the host. Now she’ll have to answer calls and give advice on the air? Impossible.But to Kate’s surprise, she turns out to be pretty good … good at the hosting gig. Then the podcast gets in a call from an anonymous guy, asking for advice about his unnamed crush. Kate is pretty sure that the caller is gorgeous Diego Martinez, and even surer that the girl in question is Alana. Kate is excited for her friend . . . until Kate herself starts to develop feelings for Diego. Suddenly, Kate finds that while doling out wisdom to others may be easy, asking for help is tougher than it looks, and following your own advice is even harder.Kasie West’s adorable story of secrets, love, and friendship is sure to win over hearts everywhere.

Really sweet about family, friendship and young love! But it is also about facing your fears and expectations from those around you. Just what I needed right now!
I love West’s books. They are just always written well, feel good and good content. I never have to worry about handing these to my teens and even preteens to read. I love that she always includes a great supporting cast. All her stories and real to life, they have a good build and conflict and great endings. I love her characters and that is what really carries the stories for me. I just fell in love with Kate. This story is mostly about her and her Highschool Jr. year. It was fun to read and as always I will be looking forward to the next West book:}
This isn’t my favorite Kasie West book, but I know when I need a light, witty, clean read; she doesn’t disappoint.
This one was fairly frustrating because it’s obvious to the reader (I think) of what’s going on you want to open Kate’s eyes.
I do love how Kate was forced to break out of her shell to host a podcast and learned some things along the way about herself. I also enjoyed how much more this one focused on friendship then some of her others. The romance is sweet and clean and I liked Diego.
Amazing! Loved it a lot. Her books are the best because you feel like you’re in the book with them watching their life happen before your eyes. It’s so amazing!
Kate Bailey doesn’t really like people. OK, let me clarify. She doesn’t dislike them, she’s just kind of a loner. She’d rather be out on the lake then with a group of people, unless they are lake people. When her best friend Alana talks her into taking a podcast class at school, she agree’s half-heartedly. Their first assignment is to offer one suggestion each for the topic of their class podcast that year. Surprise! Kate’s topic, an advice podcast is the winner and Kate finds herself co-hosting, which is completely at odds with her loner personality. Suprisingly, she finds her caustic sense of humor plays well on air and their podcast becomes a hit and one day a young man calls in asking for advice on a crush….
Our young heroine has a lesson to learn, and in Kate’s it was that there is more out in the world to discover beyond lake life. Even though Kate is kind of loner, she isn’t really because her family is huge. Her parents, aunts and uncles all live on a block together so she’s surrounded by family, cousins et. al at almost all times. So for a loner, she surprisingly is pretty social. When she drives her cousin to her weekly tutoring sessions she gets to know Diego, the boy her best friend is crushing on. As she gets to know him, she develops her own crush. Due to the girl code and first dibs, she doesn’t do anything about it.
I didn’t think this was the best Kasie West novel I’d ever read, but it wasn’t the worst either. I did really enjoy the podcasts, and the supporting characters were energetic and fun. Which was good because Kate was not a ball of energy. She did have a good heart though and in the end, she did learn her life lesson, having fun with the podcast and expanding her horizons. Listen to your Heart was a quick read, so if you have a few hours on a rainy Saturday it will be the perfect book to spend your time.
There were so many things to love about this book. I really liked Kate and her very big family. It was also really cool that her family ran a business off the lake and how much Kate loved being out on the water. Kate was a really lovable main character. She was really nice, while being awkward, yet funny. The quick friendship she formed with Diego was the best thing about this book. The awesome conversations they had and just how well they fit. The podcast was also very cool and something I looked forward to in the book.
So the reason I gave this book 3 stars is because I didn’t like a lot of things about the ending. Mostly, things about the romance and Kate’s friendship with her best friend Alana.
When Kate is talked into taking a podcast class with her best friend, Alana, she would have never dreamed that she would be a host. Kate is not a people person, she is more of a “get on the lake and have fun by herself” person. Kate’s family owns a marina on the lake. Alana is more of a people person and has a way with flirting with guys that Kate does not. When Kate finds she is falling for her best friend’s crush, the predicament she is in becomes more interesting when “the crush” begins calling into the podcast “Not My Problem”. You will have fun getting to know Kate, Alana, Diego (Alana’s crush) and Frank (the rich boy). A great, fun and fast YA read. Perfect for the beach or just relaxing.
