Ever been almost-beheaded by a snow-plow? Turned into an undead by a homeless vampire? Cheated and betrayed by your lying sack of s**t husband? Welcome to my life? or, more correctly, my crazy after-life.To everyone behind the gates of our wealthy community in Charming, Mississippi, my husband and I were the Joneses everyone tried to keep up with. A beautiful house, the perfect gated community, … community, two gorgeous kids, and a supposedly flawless marriage.Until I came home and caught him rolling around in our bed, hip-deep in my best friend.Which led to the aforementioned snow plow incident. I woke up with a fear of the sun and a propensity for drinking blood. Or in laymen’s terms, a vampire.I thought vampires were supposed to be hot and irresistible. But my Maker smells like he just stepped out of a sewer and he has the appeal of a turd in a punch bowl. But you know how life is as one of the Joneses…gotta keep up. Keep up appearances, that is.I’ve swapped my Triple, Venti, Sugar-Free, Non-Fat Caramel Macchiato for a stainless steel rambler that keeps my O-Negative at the perfect room temperature. I can still manage the carpool lane, with the right sunglasses to hide my crazy eyes. But between daytime soccer games, a missing college student who might have been a vampire kill, trying not to drain my soon-to-be-ex-husband, and keeping my neighbors in the dark, I’m shaking in my Jimmy Choos. I’m not sure I can do this.My name is Rachel Jones, and I’m the vampire housewife.

Until next time… Happy Reading!
This book is GOOD! Rachel is a loving housewife and mother who has lots of superficial friends. When she discovers her husband cheating on her, she runs from the house. She has an accident and is turned into a vampire. This book is witty and has some funny scenes, but it is also realistic in the dealing with a cheating husband and all the feelings of rage and betrayal that act elicits from the heart. I loved this book and would highly recommend it, you won’t be disappointed. I am eager to read the next book in the series.
It’s Rachel’s husband’s birthday and she wants to surprise him. So she sends her kids off to a friend’s house for the weekend, creates a beautiful flower bed with the colours of his favourite team, spends the day at the spa and then wraps herself in only a big red bow. Well things don’t go off the way she expects it to, first the flower bead looks like a large penis, the she sneaks into the house only to find her best friend is in bed with her husband. So upset she runs out of the house in just the bow and ends up in the ditch. When she crawls out of the car dazed, she gets almost decapitated. Then she wakes up to find she is vampire. This is soooo Hatshepsut planned.
This is a numerous paranormal cozy mystery/romance. It is so different fro the other cozy vampire mysteries I have read. This book is unique and creative. It has amazing characters and it share of kookiness. While having to deal with becoming a vampire she also needs to deal with her husband’s betrayal, her kids and her emotional rollercoaster. This leads to a lot of awkwardness and humour. The storyline is filled with witty dialogue and suspense. I loved this book and can not wait until I get the next book in the series.

This is not what I would classify as a cozy mystery. I liked the book and want to read more in the series, but it was kind of dark to me. A cheating husband, who’s cheating with Rachel’s best friend, makes for a dark story. Add in the viscous Veronica, who spreads lies and rumors like butter on toast, and things get downright nasty. I’m glad that Rachel is getting stronger as her vampire powers grow. She’s going to need to be strong!
A wonderful entertaining start to a new series. This engaging storyline sets the stage for a housewife who finds her husband cheating and ends up having an accident which she has been informed she is now a vampire. The funny laugh out loud journey as she makes it thru and still having to raise her kids and cope is hilarious and seems like a great start to a fun series. The characters are interesting, and enjoyable. I voluntarily read and reviewed this incredible ARC.
This is a fun story of a really different housewife. I love Rachel Jones. This book is well-written with plenty of action and adventure to keep me reading all night. I am looking forward to the next book by this author.

LIPSTICK AND LIES AND DEADLY GOODBYES is the first book in the Vampire Housewife series. As this one establishes who is who, it does need to be read first. Whether the rest need to be read in the order of publication is yet to be determined.
Rachel is a yuppie mommy and she is having a mega-bad-day. Instead of surprising her hubby with wonderful birthday gifts, she walks in on him and her best friend. Then, the real troubles begin. Now, she has to figure out a completely new after-life while keeping the neighbors clueless.
The story is funny (Her maker smells like a skunk, but calls her Roadkill!), but still empathetic and sympathetic to the plight of a woman who is mother and jilted wife.
This is just the beginning of what could be a truly fantastic series. I hope this author can keep up the wit and the sarcasm.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

LIPSTICK AND LIES AND DEADLY GOODBYES
The Vampire Housewife Series Book 1
Jodi Vaughn
Great story. This was a fun take on a vampire story. I was entertained throughout. The characters were fun, and funny. The storyline was great. Loved it!!
This is the first book in The Vampire Housewife Series, a paranormal story. The cover is beautiful. This is a great start to the series, and I loved it! Rachel’s story is sets in the small community of Charming, Mississippi. Her story is darker than expected, fast-paced, with funny parts, and filled with twists and turns. OMG! Rachel’s life is totally upside down, and keep up appearances in a gossip community isn’t that simple! Her daughters are so cute! Her husband is a total jerk. And her maker isn’t the handsome vampire expected. Not at All! Now, I can’t wait for the next book in the Series, Merlot and Divorce and Deadly Remorse. In fact, I need all the books in the Series now!
I thought this was a cozy mystery book, but definitely wasn’t. If you like books about vampires this is the book for you. Not sure how I felt about the story, but the ending has peaked my interest of how things will continue so I will need to read the next book in this series.

Could not get enough of these engaging charters, their action packed adventure and the laugh out loud witty banter that had people around me giving me looks as I once again read in public…… highly entertaining, edge of your seat thrill ride that was so hard to put down! Loved this journey and looking forward to the next adventure in this awesome new series!
Book one in a new series called The Vampire Housewife Series a well written mystery that kept me turning pages. I want to read the next book. I found myself smiling as I read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Rachel is having a rough time. She is planning to surprise her husband for his birthday. She has an outfit made out of a huge red bow that hides all of her lady bits. When she gets home & sees he’s there, she gets in “his present” only to walk in on him in their bed going at it with her best friend. She runs out of the house, jumps in her car & then ends up in a ditch. The next thing she knows she’s waking up, being told she was almost beheaded by a snowplow & turned in to a vampire. The crazy homeless guy that she thinks kidnapped her claims he’s her maker & tells her she has to leave her current life behind so he can teach her how to be a vampire. He keeps turning up at unexpected moments after she goes back home. She doesn’t know why he bothers since he thinks she’s a spoiled & rich housewife & doesn’t like her. She eventually figures out that what he’s been telling her is true, but her married life is still anything but perfect. How do you continue to lead your life taking care of your kids, dealing with a cheating & lying husband, trying to help solve unexplained disappearances of women, & being a vampire? Turns out it’s a full time job.
I really liked this story, but it’s not the first story I’ve read a book that has someone almost beheaded by a snow plow & turned in to a vampire. I questioned thru the entire book if I’ve read this one in years past. I’m looking forward to book 2. This story is more than 3 1/2 stars. I only rated it there since it seemed it wasn’t as unique as I had expected. If this one has previously been published, I’d like to know so that I can change my rating. Jodi does a great job with character development & world building. You can’t go wrong with anything she writes.
LIPSTICK AND LIES AND DEADLY GOODBYES is the first book in The Vampire Housewife Series. This is a highly entertaining story of an everyday housewife turned vampire and how she deals with her new life. The characters are quirky and fun and the storyline is well written.
So much for Rachel’s perfect life! I cannot wait for the next book in this fun new series.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Talk about a fun book! Now this one was. I have to say, all the things that happened were humorous to say the least. I will be reading this one again. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and exchange for a free copy.
This isn’t your normal, vampire paranormal read. Poor Rachel, thinks she has the perfect life….a wonderful house, 2 beautiful children, and a dotting husband who is a surgeon. What could be better?? But that ends one night and everything changes. Involved are a not so dotting husband, a smelly stranger, and a snowplow. This poor housewife has a lot of changes to face, but she looks darn good doing it! This book is full of snark, surprises, and even some upsets.
Written as a 1st person, single pov with a open ended ending leaving room for the next book in the series.
Would I recommend this book? Yes
Would I read more from this author? Yes

Lipstick and Lies and Deadly Goodbyes is a laugh out loud tale of the lies we tell ourselves to get through the day. This story had me giggle-snorting, empathizing and ready to throw my e-reader out the window. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next installment.
That evening she had thought that a landscaping mishap would be the worst part of her day. Walking in on her hole of a husband and her now former bestie certainly brought things to a new low.
Then the accident and worse.
What happens next is about change, survival and moving on.
Even undeath has challenges and complications. Her husband no longer needs to be one of those.
Courage in the face of ugly. Domestic bravery of a different kind. My favorite thing, besides her hard won courage? Love the ball biting swans. Good birds!
