I wasn’t supposed to see Levi Pierce ever again. A few months ago, we had one incredible date. One. That’s how I like it. End of story. Only it wasn’t. Pretty soon everywhere I turn, I see him. Our best friends are dating. My mother mistakenly–and happily–thinks he’s my plus-one to my cousin’s wedding. And he’s the guy I have to work with on the most important job opportunity of my life. … opportunity of my life.
Here’s my problem: I like Levi. I like his killer smile, his dreamboat eyes, and definitely the way he makes me feel. But I’ve sworn off relationships. So when the sexual tension reaches epic proportions, I tell myself it’s temporary. When I start to feel more, I tell myself it’s over.
Only Levi isn’t a forget-it kind of guy. When his lips are close to mine, and he swears he’s always wanted me, my defenses disappear. But he’s heading off to new adventures an ocean away, and some things in life just aren’t meant to be.

Another enjoyable and entertaining story in the Wherever You Go series! I couldn’t get enough of this childhood friends to lovers story between Levi and Harper. One night between these two was never going to be enough. Harper just needed to work through issues from her past in order to be able to see a future with Levi, who was just the perfect guy for her. Love the little notes he wrote to her, even though he never sent them. They just made me smile, even though they both did dumb things at times.
Definitely recommend this author and series!
Lips Close To Mine by Robin Bielman was a great read and second instalment in the Wherever You Go series.
Levi and Harper are two characters who fit fabulously together. They had this undeniable connection and chemistry that will make readers fall in love. I loved how caring and “there for” Harper, Levi was. Going through the novel, you truly get to see how Levi wanted to be with Harper. He wanted her to share her feelings and love with him, and constantly was there to support her through the motions.
Another element of this novel that truly stood out to me was the emotions. Harper has such a challenging past, and has gone through so many heartbreaking moments, that you can’t help but feel her pain. There was one particular heartbreaking moment, where you find out the whole story of her past, and it was in that moment, that my heart split in two for her. I loved that Harper was able to use her past experiences as a way to move forward and do something and make something good from the bad.
Overall, this was a great read. Not only will you connect with the story, and characters, but also the emotions. I definitely recommend this series to everyone.
4/5 Stars!
LIPS CLOSE TO MINE is the second instalment in Robin Bielman’s contemporary, adult WHEREVER YOU GO erotic, romance series. This is photographer and cameraman Levi Pierce, and twenty three year old Harper McKinney’s story line. LIPS CLOSE TO MINE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Levi and Harper) LIPS CLOSE TO MINE follows the building relationship between photographer and cameraman Levi Pierce, and Harper McKinney, a woman struggling with ghosts from the past. Harper and Levi were childhood friends but somewhere along the way, the grew up and went in opposite directions. Several months earlier Harper and Levi reconnected for a sexy one-night stand, a night neither one is willing to forget…but Harper doesn’t do relationships, and Levi’s heart was destroyed by a previous love. A chance to work together brings Levi and Harper back into one another’s radar, and the proverbial sparks continue to fly. What ensues is the rebuilding friendship and relationship between Levi and Harper, and the potential fall out when Levi’s past comes looking for a second chance, and Harper’s darkened memories continue to plague her days and nights.
Harper McKinney struggles with a direction in life. An Olympic swimming career that was sidelined by an accident and loss finds our heroine aimlessly searching for that one thing to bring her back on line. Levi Pierce battles between his head and his heart-a heart that begins to beat for our story line heroine but a heart destroyed by a previous love.
The relationship between Harper and Levi is one of second chances, of a sort between childhood friends who reconnect following a one-night stand; whose best roommates, best friends and siblings are all interconnected making for some uneasy moments in the palpable sexual attraction between our story line couple. The $ex scenes are intimate, seductive and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Mateo and Teague (Talk British to Me #1), as well as a large number of acquaintances, friends and family-extended or otherwise, Harper’s old swim coach Brad Halloran, and Levi’s roommate Elliott.
LIPS CLOSE TO MINE is a story of friendship and love; memories and loss; forgiveness and moving forward with moments of humor and fun, conflict and tears. The premise is sexy, edgy and impassioned; the characters are colorful and charismatic; the romance is heartwarming and emotional. LIPS CLOSE TO MINE reveals the tortured secrets of two people who have loved and loss but are willing to take a second chance on love-once again.
I loved Lips Close to Mine by Robin Bielman. This is a story of two lost souls who have both had a huge loss in their in their lives which greatly affected them. Harper loss her first love, her high school boyfriend, when he drowned at her sweet-sixteen party. Levi’s high school girlfriend pulled on his heartstrings while playing with him, keeping him off-kilter, loving, lying, and repeat, especially using him as she saw fit. Neither Harper nor Levi trusted loving another person, without fearing losing them. This story is about learning to trust oneself and finding love without fear of loss.
I really enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. Ms. Bielman is a wonderful story teller drawing me into her books, making me forget the world around me and not let me go until I turned the last page. I highly recommend this book to other readers
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This second book in the Wherever You Go series can be read as a standalone but once you read it, you’ll want to go back and read Talk British to Me!!
Harper and Levi were featured extensively in book one of this series so I have been waiting, sort of patiently, for their story since I read the last page of Talk British to Me. Harper is a swim instructor who is applying for an ambassador position to bring awareness to water safety. A traumatic event in her youth makes her passionate about the topic but also a little weary of letting people get close. Levi is a cameraman who, because of his own experiences, is reluctant to let women get too close. Since their best friends are dating and they have a history with each other, it seems like these two just can’t escape the connection that obviously exists between them.
Levi is one of the swooniest lead characters I’ve ever read. Both Levi and Harper have been through quite a lot and those experiences keep them from just embracing their chemistry instead of holding each other at an arm’s length. This book was much heavier on the angst but all of it seemed purposeful and added to my connection to the characters. I’m really looking forward to where this series goes and seeing HEA for everyone in this group of friends.
LOVED this second book in the Whereever You Go series. This is easily read standalone but I think you’d really enjoy the first book, Talk British to Me as well. This is Levi’s story and it’s fabulous!! Levi and Harper are amazing together. Their relationship is complicated. Well, not really, but Harper has up so many walls it makes it complicated. Levi plans on tearing down every one of her walls and find out exactly what the problem is. It won’t be easy but he’s certain he’s up for the challenge!!
Put this one on the must read list! I highly recommend it.
Good grief, you guys. Are you reading Robin Bielman yet? Because if you are not, you need to remedy that immediately. No joke – these books are so good. I completely lost myself in Lips Close to Mine and frankly, I sort of want to just start all over at the beginning and do it again.
This, the second book in the Wherever You Go series is a little more intense than the first. I felt like I went a little deeper with Levi and Harper for some reason. The tone felt more serious overall, but I wouldn’t call this an overly angsty or emotional book. There were plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, a ton of time spent smiling dreamily at my Kindle, and I walked away with a full and happy heart. But it’s definitely emotional and it’s not completely without angst. It’s just a whole balanced package, really and I adored it.
Speaking of adoring, let’s talk about Levi. *swoony sigh*. This guy. I couldn’t get enough of him. He stole my heart and made it race and skip beats and do all kinds of crazy “falling in love” acrobatics. He was perfect. The perfect hero, and perfect for Harper, who despite her fair amount of baggage and reinforced walls around her heart – did her own fair share of stealing mine. These two together were all fiery chemistry, adorable banter and sweet, sensual moments.
I loved the storytelling. This book was effortless to read, and interesting to boot (even beyond the love story). It works just fine as a standalone, but since I did read (and LOVE) Talk British to Me, I loved catching up with Mateo and Teague a bit. Honestly – I loved everything. This is only the second book I’ve read by Ms. Bielman, but based on the way I’ve devoured both of them and the sort of euphoric high I find myself in at their conclusion – it’s probably safe to say that I’m a huge fan now and will most definitely be back for more!
Robin Bielman puts the fun in dysfunctional. Lips Close to Mine has a special kind of crazy that only Ms. Bielman can create. Harper is a touch neurotic. Between matchmaking mothers, a controlling father and a pesky attraction that refuses to go away, who can blame her. What happens when the man of of your nightmares becomes the guy of your dreams? Chaos! Levi and Harper are proof of why any Bielman novel is a class act. She never strives for perfection, only truth. Flaws and all. Her ability to allow us to laugh at ourselves is why she continues to be a constant on any bestseller list.
