Logan Heath was the sweetest and most beautiful boy I had ever seen. He was popular, smart, and the star quarterback of Fort Johnson High. Every girl in school followed him around in hopes of getting his attention. I was no different, except that I admired Logan from afar. With him being a superstar junior and me being an awkward freshman at a new school, our coupling was a mere pipe dream. …
Implementing my top-notch investigating skills I learned from reading The Nancy Drew Mysteries, I followed Logan’s life from high school through his college career, and then some. Fearing that my stalker-ish tendencies were becoming more of a mental health issue, I purposely lost track of him five years ago. I admit since that time I have thought of Logan. And when I say thought I mean he has popped into one or forty R-rated dreams of mine.
The day he walked into my bakery, butterflies fluttered in my stomach, tingles tingled my skin, and a sequence of R-rated dreams flashed through my head. But I was no longer that awkward teenager, too scared to speak to him. I had grown into a confident woman. A woman who wanted to admire Logan Heath up close and personal. Unfortunately, from the very beginning, Logan wanted something from me that I was not willing to give him.

What a fun, quirky, sweet romance! Elipheleta (Lip) Smacker runs her beloved but struggling bakery, and takes care of her Grandmother. When her secret high school crush walks into her shop to offer to buy it for his employer, she is astonished at his arrogance. Not only was he cocky, and still sexy, but she was crushed that he didn’t recognize her. Logan was more than a cold lawyer, he was kind, thoughtful and giving. He remembered the cute girl who watched him from afar and was intrigued and drawn to this beautiful and quirky woman who stood up and challenged him. The more time he tried to spend with her, the more suspicious she was at his motives. But she couldn’t deny the sparks that flew between them. This story had me laughing out loud at times, then an emotional twist had me in tears, but mostly I swooned and felt myself smiling. Kelli Tager did a great job narrating this delightful romcom and bringing it to life. She skillfully brought out all of Lip’s awkward, vulnerable, and loving attributes, and I loved her performance of Lips fast nervous talking! I also enjoyed her different character voices that were distinctive and dynamic. This is my first experience with both this narrator and author and I would love to listen to more of their work.
Lip Smacker
By: Alison G. Bailey
Narrated by: Kelli Tager
I love Alison G. Bailey. If you haven’t listened to her books before, I suggest you go get one! But this one is a little different from the previous books I have heard. This one had me laughing out loud! Lip has a cupcake bakery in the neighborhood that she and her grandmother, Wavey have loved forever. Now Logan, Lip’s crush from high school comes in and wants to buy the real estate from her! No way is she going to sell, but fall all over again for Logan? Now that is another story. Logan is smitten but is in a tough spot. Will he save the bakery or his job? And in the process will he lose Lip? This is a slow burn story, with hysterical lines and a grandmother that we all fall in love with. Bailey has a knack for hitting all the buttons, and I fell in love with this story!
Kelli Tager is amazing. She delivers every character, perfect voices from Wavey’s warmth and knowledge to Lip’s crazy run on hysteria. I fell in love with her narrations with Bailey’s The Dance and will continue to watch for more of her performances!

This is one of my FAVORITE books of this year! The story is funny, heartfelt and so crazy good! I laughed out loud and even had tears in my eyes couple times. The characters are wonderfully built. The names are great and one of my favorite parts. The two MC have a dog and cat attraction but their witty banter is what will bring me back time and time again. I could listen to Lip explain all day to him why something can’t happen. Her babbling and speed talking kept me on my toes…err ears. The relationships between the grandma and the grand daughter was heartfelt but had an edge of fun.
I highly recommend this story but only if you want to lighten up your day with a laugh or two.
I did listen to this on audio. Kelli Tager is outstanding! I can’t give enough praise for her voicing this book and characters. She is indignant or as shocked as the character calls for. I could hear it all in her voice. There is even a couple times where the female character speed talks because she is nervous or angry. This lady nails it! She really amped this story up to the next level!
This was the funnest book mail ever. I love surprise book mail and I love book mail that makes me giggle. This is a little of both. Winning.
This was an adorable love story about two people totally not prepared for each other. Lip is a business owner a bit over her head living her dream and Logan, the guy who wants to buy said business and make way for something else. Throw in a little history and chemistry that “bakes” on the pages and you are going to love this sweet romance.
This book had the sexy and it had the steamy, throw it into a beautifully packed plot that was just enough twists to keep the sweet balanced and it was perfection.

Elipheleta Smacker (Lip) has strong ties to the neighborhood she now runs her cupcake business out of. Memories of walking down the street reminiscing with Wavy (her grandmother) keep Lip tied to the neighborhood even if her building is run down and a major corporation wants to buy her out to build a new hotel in the area. She isn’t willing to leave the spot she chose so deliberately.
Logan Heath is known as the Closer. He is brought in to work the deal when small businesses don’t want to be bought out. But he never imagines when he walks through the door to Lipsmacker that he is going to get more than a business deal out of the encounter.
I struggled a little with some of the chemistry between Lip and Logan. While they started out adversaries, it seemed like Logan’s reason for entering the cupcake shop the first time was forgotten when he connected who Lip was. And Lip generally turned to mush when Logan entered the room anyway, forgetting herself in the process. But I loved the way their relationship built between them. So while their early animosity may have gone by the wayside quickly, they fell back on genuine interest and attraction.
I loved the bond between Lip and Wavy. Lip’s connection to her grandmother was a big part of who she was, and having Wavy around daily is part of what pushed Lip to stick with her dreams even through hardship.
The side characters added a spark to the story as well. From the bakery’s regular customer to Lip’s friend Cindy at camp, there were plenty of characters to push Lip out of her comfort zone and hold out a hand as needed. I would have loved to have some narration from Logan, but Lip’s voice is steady throughout. She is a solid narrator, if a little focused on her business while ignoring some signs around her. The things she misses make for fun revelations when she finally clues in to what has been going on around her.
This was generally an entertaining read. Easy, a little light, and a lot of fun, Lip and Logan’s story kept me grinning from start to finish.

I really love „Present Perfect” written by Alison G. Bailey.
When I saw a „Lip Smacker” I thought that I really need this book, but now, when I end it… hm. This was not what I expected.
Elipheleta (Lip) Smacker is a co-owner of cupcake bakery with her grandmother. She has this job, because she do this for her grandma, her only family. Lip parents died in car accident and a few years ago she lost her grandpa. Her grandmother says that he missed his son so much, that he died.
One day for their bakery enters Logan Heath, the first love of Lip.
But he doesn’t want her (not now), he has an offer about their bakery and the big investment on this place.
Elipheleta doesn’t agree on this, because this small shop is her whole life, but her grandma has a different plans about it.
Day by day Lip meets Logan and they get close.
„Lip Smacker” is just a funny, sweet story with two young people whos aren’t prepare to be an adult.
Maybe I am too requiring, but I expected a story with real problems, something like „Present Perfect”.
This book is a happy reading, but not a memorable.
The heroes are indifferent to me. I didn’t like Logan, neither Lip. But I like this cover. It is very cute and fresh.
„Lip Smacker” is fun and sweet story, but I know myself and I won’t remember this book maybe in a month. Good reading, but this is only good reading.
“I realize that through the unexpected randomness of life, I just may have found my person.”
Elipheleta Smacker better known as Lip did not have an easy life. She lost her parents and grandfather and her grandmother is the only family left. She is the proud owner of a cupcake shop whose existence is threatened by a developer who has already bought nearby stores.
Logan Heath, known as “The Closer”, is Harper Incorporation’s most successful representative. He never fails to close a deal. He is always fast and accurate. Until he comes across a stubborn woman who makes delicious cupcakes and has no intention of selling her business.
The plot has a lot of potential for drama, but the book is light, romantic and even funny. The protagonist couple is delightful to read. Wavy is the grandmother you wanted to have. Despite Lip’s insecurities and repetitions, she’s not a bad protagonist, but at times it can irritate.
There will be many misunderstandings and mishaps in the couple’s path. But Logan is a determined man who will fight to the end and show Lip that her dreams can come true. Even when life gets hard.
That book with a cliché ending, but with a delicious journey, good characters and sighing quotes.

Elipheleta Smacker aka Lip, has known Logan Heath since high school. Lip was shy, quiet but since he talked to her that one time, that one moment, she had been smitten by him since forever. Crushed on him, watched him from afar, kept up with his life even after high school. But as she stops keeping track of him because she realizes its unhealthy, in walking through her cupcake shop is none other than, Logan himself. Logan is known at work at the closer. He closes deals, the company he works for wants Lip’s property for a big project, but Lip isn’t budging. She goes on the defense, puts on a front, and tries not to allow Logan to break her down, even though she doesn’t know how to act when he’s around.
This story was cute. I thought Logan was really cute, sweet and loved the way he was attentive with Lip. Lip was a character I was having a little trouble connecting with. Yes, she was quirky, different, but also sooo stubborn. It drove me crazy sometimes, but I am glad they did have their happily ever after. This story was an easy, entertaining read. This was my first read from this author, and I enjoyed it. Logan Heath is quite the man!
Lip has always dreamed of opening a cupcake bakery with her grandmother. And when that dream becomes reality, Lip realizes it’s harder running a business than she thought. But when her former high school crush is back in town and is threatening her business, all gloves are off.
Logan’s back in town and is working with a developer who wants Liz’s shop’s real estate, but she isn’t selling. As Logan and Lip face-off—Logan is finally noticing Lip and starting to crush on her. But Lip doesn’t trust his intentions or believes he’s being truthful since he’s trying to buy her business. So what is she to do?
Lip Smacker was sweet and cute. Low on angst and an all around enjoyable read.
Let me start by saying that Alison G. Bailey never disappoints. I’ve read pretty much all her books and they all bring something original and sweet to the table.
Lip Smacker is funny, heartfelt, sexy, with a heroine full of sass, a grandmother who is a beautiful soul, and a swoony hero. A big investment company is looking to buy the bakery that Lip has put her heart and soul building from the ground up. And when they send a sexy attorney to try to convince Lip to sell, she receives the surprise of her life because she has known this man since she was a teenager. Logan is “the closer” and he has been assigned to get the spot where the bakery is in order to build a big hotel in that area, but sometimes things don’t go according to plan and matters of the heart take the lead for the closer.
Bailey has written a story that is as sweet as the cupcakes Lip makes. She shows us that perseverance and the love for what we do go along way keeping family together and showing the rest of the world that money can not buy memories (past and present,) or the quality time we get to spend with those we love. While most of the book has its very funny and witty moments as well as the heated moments between Lip and Logan, it also has that one moment that made me bawled, you know is coming but when it finally happens is heartbreaking, I think because it was written with so much care and love it affected me even more.
You’re going to love Lip, Logan and Wavy (grandma extraordinaire.) Grab a cupcake and your favorite beverage and enjoy this beautiful story.

Lip Smacker was a fun, entertaining and sexy read. But it was also a book with all the feels you want to read in a 5 star read.
This story had me laughing out loud, swooning, blushing and even crying. The majority of this book was a feel good romance but it also had that emotional side that pulled on your heartstrings. I was invested in this story and characters right from the start.
I haven’t read many stories by Alison G. Bailey, but each one I have read, I have loved!!! Her stories are always filled with relatable characters and storylines that I can relate to.
Lip Smacker is a complete standalone novel that is told solely from Lip’s POV. This story focuses on Lip and Logan’s story. Lip is a bakery owner who is struggling to keep her bakery open and taking care of her aging grandma. Logan is an attorney who is hired by an investment firm that is trying to buy all the existing businesses to build a hotel in their place. Lip is not willing to sell the bakery. What Lip wasn’t expecting when Logan shows up in the bakery, is that this is the same man who she has secretly loved since she was 14 years old. Can Logan get Lip to give up her dream and sell the Bakery?? What happens when insecurities seep in?? Can they find their HEA?? Read this fun story to find out.
I love both Lip and Logan. Lip was a strong and independent woman, who wants to do it all on her own. Logan was such a swoony Hero. He is the Hero that makes the reader believe in their prince charming. I loved the banter between Lip and Logan. You also couldn’t forget about Wavy, Lip’s grandma. She holds a special place in my heart!!!
I would 100% recommend this story to anyone looking for that swoony, feel good romance with amazing characters and a heart warming love story.
Lip Smacker by Alison G. Bailey is a quirky romance that is sweet and funny and sexy with a little heartache and angst thrown in. A fun read with wacky characters, a great central location and some great heart-to heart moments between the heroine, Lip, and the hero, Logan as well as with Lip’s grandmother. I felt that the quirkiness was perhaps a bit forced at times but overall I enjoyed the story.
I loved this swoony & hilarious book! Lip owns a cupcake bakery with her gramma, Wavy, their dream shop…until her old crush comes with an offer from an investment firm to buy it. I loved watching Lip & Logan try to figure out how to handle their attraction to each other, especially since the tension of Logan wanting her bakery!!! Their banter was amazing & I LOVED Wavy!!!
Alison is going to be a go to author for sure!!
This is my first book from Alison and I can say I so enjoyed it! Lip and Logan is a cute, sweet, funny story . It revolves around Lip and her grandmother’s bakery and Logan appearing wanting to purchase the building. She may have a bit of a crush on Logan in high school but lost track of him until her floundering bakery ended up being in the building he wants to buy! They aren’t really enemies but Lip does not want to give up what it hers. Logan is man who gets what he wants and it seem the lovely Lip is on that list !!! Loved their witty sassy banter !

This is the first book I’ve read by Alison G. Bailey and it will most certainly not be my last. I absolutely loved everything about it. I love her writing style and found myself rereading paragraphs\dialogue because it was so entertaining. Lip and Logan are amazing, I fell in love with them both individually and as a couple. The chemistry between the two is off the charts and the use of family members (Wavy) also added to the storyline and enjoyment factor. This book is a five plus star read, add it to your TBR list right away, trust me you won’t regret it. (I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review).
Lip is a nickname that Elipheleta hates but with such an unusual name what can you do? She moves to a new place and attends another high school where the star quarterback Logan is king. She admires him from afar as she doesn’t have the confidence to approach him. Fast forward a few years and Lip is working in her grandmother’s bakery. Logan shows up to try to convince Lip’s grandmother to sell her bakery to the investment company he works for now. This story is a feel good romance with serious undertones. If you like cute and sweet this will be the story for you.
Lip Smacker was finally living the dream—opening a cupcake bakery with her grandmother. Unfortunately, the business isn’t doing so well and a big business company is trying to get them to sell. They send over Logan Heath -also known as The Closer- who also happens to be the guy who stole a piece of Lip’s heart in high school. Will he get her to give-up this dream and sell the bakery? Will she get to live another dream—the one she had all those years ago in high school?
I enjoyed reading this book. It’s not your typical romantic comedy; while it is cute and quirky, there’s a serious, emotional storyline running though it. After reading a series of books written in dual first-person POV’s, reading one in first-person POV is quite refreshing.
The characters were well-written. Lip is sweet, kind, feisty; while Logan is charming, confident, and persistent. I love the banter between them. Wavy and Mr. Abrahams added depth to the story.
Lip Smacker is an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy written in first-person POV. It’s a standalone that ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
Why do stories of unknown love affect us so much? Most people have memories of times past where “the one” was in our face and we never knew it…or maybe we did know. Time stands still for no one, but sometimes, time brings about an opportunity to learn or discover what we should have known before. Alison G. Bailey pulls all those wishes together with Lip Smacker.
Exciting and challenging, both Elipheleta “Lip” and Logan are strong willed independent people. Their lives are busy enough without disruptions, but sometimes, the spark that never started, has a way of igniting more than either can expect. I’m not sure battles are recognized as teaching opportunities often, but with these two, the teaching is more than amazing. No matter how hard they try, with each turn they only find themselves more and more in the sites of the other. What becomes of these battles is heartwarming.
Alison has written a very fun story of opportunities anew along with a HEA ending. This story definitely gets all the stars I can give.
4.5 star Review Lip Smacker by Alison G Bailey
Alison G. Bailey is a new author to me and why that is the case, I have no idea. I found this book to be well written and entertaining, keeping me interested from the first to the last chapter.
Elipheleta (Lip) Smacker is the co owner of a bakery with her grandmother Wavy (love their names). Going through life with such an unusual name has certainly been a challenge for Lip, particularly when she was a teenager. Falling in love from a distance with, high school was where she developed a crush on Logan Heath, who had no idea.
This story is funny and at times heart wrenching. The bakery could use some new business and Lip is concerned when developers try to buy her bakery. Lip is shocked when she comes face to face with Logan, the man tasked with convincing them to sell and he initially has no idea who she is.
Of course it wouldn’t be a romance story without some angst and drama. Lip is torn by her feelings for Logan even knowing that he is the “enemy” she finds her feelings re surfacing.
There is definitely some flirting going on and as they get to know each other Logan falls under her spell.
I loved how sassy and feisty Lip is, passionate and loyal, she loves her family and is not afraid to show it. Wavy is a great character who I found to be highly entertaining.
This is a fun, flirty, second chance at love story that had me smiling throughout.
