Release date: August 14, 2018A newly-minted cave lion shifter + an eagle shifter who’s lived long enough to know better = irresistible allureStrong and self-assured, Jeremiah is the closest thing his mage kinfolk have to an alpha. He takes his responsibilities seriously, which hasn’t left time for much of anything, and it’s about to get worse. Mages are in trouble. A few signed on with vampires, … Mages are in trouble. A few signed on with vampires, causing human deaths. Because of them, all mages are being smeared with the traitor brush.
Renee’s eagle bondmate jerks her awake one night with the terse message a cave lion, one of the most ancient of the animals, has bonded. According to the bird, they have to drop everything and go to Colorado. Reluctant to weave the fabric of lies she’ll need to cover her absence, she finally gives in.
She’s horrified to discover the lion bonded with a man who used to be a mage. A mage. The rogues who joined up with vampires. She wants to hate Jeremiah, but it’s a tough sell. Not only is he gorgeous, he’s smart and kind and funny. None of it matters, though, because he doesn’t like her, either.
Are the hurdles too high? Or is a shifter’s mate truly in the stars?
more
Jeremiah has been having strange visions since being saved by the shifter healer. Then the unexpected happens. Renee is awakened by her eagle in a hurry. Though she has only had a minimal amount of sleep it is clear she is done for the night. The next day she heads to Colorado where her friends live and her eagle is directing her. Renee, Jeremiah and friends have trouble heading their way. More vampires are nearby, but things may be swinging in the shifter and mages favor. I can’t wait for the next book and Chloe’s story.
Very captivating and interesting story. Full of action and adventure. Jeremiah is a great character, strong-willed & very giving which also describes Renee so of course they bump heads. Their stubbornness adds friction to their attraction, fuel to the fire. When danger boldly shows up, the intensity (on all levels) escalates. Love this addition to the series.
Another series here that has got me coming back for more thanks to this one. This one with its story is not average or to be found somewhere else not even similar. That is what draws me to this one too. This one centers around Renee and Jeremiah and their bondmates. Talk about that is where some of the interest pulls ya. In this one it will be a lion and a eagle which I found intriguing. Also to be found is magic and mayhem with you following the drama with interest. With everything that is contained in this one there is no chance of running away. Being a leo myself my curiosity got the best of me with seeing this one through to the end.
Second book in the “Zodiac Shifters Paranormal Romance” series and it just keeps getting better. We once again meet the mage Jeremiah, who having been saved by a shifter from poison he took to kill vampires, has somehow become a mage/shifter. This is totally new for him and he doesn’t know how to treat his bonded rare and very old cave lion. Mages and shifters have been enemies for centuries and now that he’s both, neither groups trust him. At the same time a shifter who is bonded to an ancient eagle is told by him that a lion cave has bonded and she must go immediately to find him. Everything goes downhill from there, he’s a mage and can’t be trusted since learning mages have been helping vampires. But not all is as it appears, for the alliance with the mages and vampires is even more sinister than they thought. This fascinating and great world building story is filled with mistrust, confusion, danger, horrific discoveries and the realization that past hatreds need not rule the present. Neither of them have wanted a mate, but both must accept that fate knows best. I’ve given you more than I usually do, but to find out what they learn about each other, the vampires plans, and what they have to do destroy those plans, get this book now. If you haven’t yet started this great series what are you waiting for, the third book will be out soon.

The prologue at the beginning of the book made the story extremely exciting. It gave the story a BOOM MOMENT which pull you right into the story! This story features Renee, a curvaceous, independent, beautiful healer who is a eagle shifter and Jeremiah a heart-melting gorgeous, charismatic mage with a powerful secret. Well you just never know what fate has in store for you! I enjoyed how the sparks fly when Jeremiah and Renee first saw each other without being introduced. This story has a extremely impressive cast of characters that is very engaging. It’s beautiful written with such scene descriptions that are incredible and dynamic. This book is filled with friends, family and love in a small town which always makes for a great read. I enjoyed watching the mates pair relationship unfold. Highly entertaining and engaging read, looking forward to reading the next Wylde Magick book. If you would like to treasure shifter romance story with a touch of suspense this is an excellent book for your library.
This is a terrific second in the series. Mages and shifters are still not friendly, much less willing to work together with them. Jeremiah finds himself bonded with an ancient animal spirit. Renee is bonded with an ancient and knows right away when the mage and the spirit bond. She heads to find the new shifter. Jeremiah’s bond mate has not bonded with anyone for a really long time and expects to run the show against the vampires. On top of the vampire situation, Jeremiah needs to tell his mage kin about his bond mate. This book was a bit shorter than book one, but it has no less magic, action and danger. I do love how the mages accepted Jeremiah and his new life. I volunteered to read an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Magical Bond….
Mage Jeremiah is lucky to be alive after his brush with death for drinking a poison to eradicate the enemy vampires….He offered himself up to the vampires in a selfless endeavor to stop the evil beings from luring his mage kin folk to their ranks. He has been having strange dreams lately and even during the day of a huge lion. What it means he has no idea, but for some strange reason he feels a strange pull towards the caves where he is blasted by strange magic. Could it be that Gaia hadn’t meant for him to beat death and now she will take him alone in these caves?
Eagle shifter and healer Renee is very ancient, she crossed to the states running from the wars between the mages and shifters in the old country along with others many, many years ago staying under the radar, but now her bond animal is urging her to leave because another ancient has bonded and they must find him. Only she and this other ancient can stop the flow of vampires that keep mages as prisoners in order to siphon their magic.
When the two, shifter and mage meet it is a very volatile situation, but can the turn of events bring some kind of peace among enemies? A mage just experiencing an animal bond for the first time in his long life and Renee’s bonded eagle reunited with it’s friend an ancient powerful lion that has just bonded with a mage.
Fast pace, suspense, magic a great all around Paranormal romance with a different take on vampires.
Love the shifters, who doesn’t. Ann has made me appreciate Mage, each book a little more. Book 2 is the Wylde Magick Book series ran a little quicker than book 1. They are all novellas. You can read this by itself, but I highly recommend reading book 1, it really does lay the ground work and introduce you to many of the characters. This is my unsolicited, un biased review of Lion’s Lair, Arc received from author Ann Gimpel
