Twenty years prior, primary school aged Penny Drew is subjected to a horrifying ordeal at school camp by the hands of bully Amy Woods and a number of her friends. In the present day, the abduction of schoolgirl Sally from a public swimming pool in the usually quiet town of Heathcote causes a panic among the local residents.Head of the Missing Person’s Taskforce, ageing Detective Alex Johnson is … Johnson is notified and heads to Heathcote to investigate.
Aspiring career driven investigative journalist Jennifer Longo, receives the first of many anonymous internet links which leads her to Heathcote Swimming Pool, coincidentally, the town of the first of many abductions.
Detective Johnson and Longo inevitably cross paths in their investigative enquiries in endeavouring to uncover the truth about who is responsible, along the way, developing an interpersonal love hate father daughter relationship.
As more children are abducted, the pair realise that working together may be a logical tactic, however Longo’s new love interest and Detective Johnson’s prime suspect appear to be the same person – Jason Drew.

I tried, oh how I tried, to read this book. The writing to me is terrible. I felt like I was reading a book written by a child. Though, the concept was good, I just couldn’t read it. I got to 19% on my Kindle and had to bow out. Other people loved this book, but I can’t handle the writing.
Oh my! What an insane book, wacky writing style, psychotic plot, twists between characters who’s the most demented, yet, I couldn’t stop reading! I was completely caught up in all the weirdness, like Jennifer Longo, Investigative Journalist. She wants an exclusive story and justice.
Enough said, must read Links of Betrayal, can’t say you will love it, but mystery and suspense fans will be so intrigued, no way to put it down.
I can’t let go, have to read Scars of Betrayal, book 2 in the Longo Files Series.
This was a great book. I really enjoyed the storyline and it grabbed me from the start of the book until the end. It’s very well written with well written characters. I would recommend reading this book. (I received this book as an arc and am leaving a voluntary honest review)
Divide the coincidences from the facts! Jennifer Longo is determined to become an independent investigative reporter. She wants to create a website that everyone will seek out for its unbiased stories. Jennifer’s attention is caught by the evening news and off she goes to “investigate” the story. Meanwhile, Detective Alex Johnson has been called in on a missing girl from the local pool. The story becomes more interesting as others are abducted. The reason for the abductions are a mystery, there have been no ransom notes or other communications for them. Envelopes with lines have been discovered, but there is no connection that Detective Johnson can see. Suddenly all the people involved seem to have motives for the abductions. Suspenseful and thrilling. Can’t wait for the next book!
Definitely worth reading and I recommend it to anyone that loves crime, and mystery books. It holds you captivated until the end.
This has lots of secrets with twists and turns. Makes you wonder if who you think is the bad guy(s) is even correct. Those are good books. This one was no exception. I felt sad and very very angry for some of the things that went on. Bulling especially to the degree Penny went through is outrageous. Not to mention other things. Kept my interest as I wanted to know you know it and if I was correct. One thing I can say is that sometimes it was repetitive to the point it aggravated me. Other than that I enjoyed the book!!
I received this as an ARC book for my honest and voluntary review.
Missing and presumed kidnapped kids.
Connections old and new
Guilt and blame shifting in overabundance
All tangles together in an enticing way that keeps you hooked and on the edge of your seat
What to say without tipping the plot? I want more – yet I dread it a little.
Excellent!
I enjoyed this. I’ve never heard of this author before so I didn’t know what the story would be like.
It’s an intense story about child kidnapping. Suspense all the way through. Gripping to the end.
Well done
