Lines by Leon is a selection of poems, prose, and short stories that address the subjects of loss, struggle, and reflection. Inside these thoughtful contemplations are original observations about ego, behaviour, human relations, places, and the environment. Many of the pieces feature a lighthearted and even humorous take on a subject, and the author invites his readers to laugh, think, cry, and … and meditate on the wide variety of thoughts.
Scattered throughout the book are sketches of various subjects, many that relate to the poems and stories they illustrate; others speak for themselves.

I have read books of poems before but Lines by Leon touches on topics that really make you think. It gives you a look at how someone else is feeling and their opinions about personal viewpoints, the environment, sports and more. The one I really liked was The First Snow. Reading Lines by Leon just makes you feel something, it’s a book about poems, music lyrics, prose, and just thoughts. I definitely can not wait for another collection From Leon Stevens. I really love his writing.
I enjoyed this book. This is one of my favorite types of books and a new author on top made a great book for me. This is a book that is full of poems, short stories that are written with a ton of heart and emotion. They cover topics such as places, environment and relationships. I found this book to be well written and the author’s use of details in each poem or short story made them feel realistic. This is an easy to understand and read book that I read in one sitting. Each poem and short story are unique and just fun to read. I highly recommend this book. I know you will find something in one of these poems or short stories you will connect with.
Lines by Leon is a wonderful collection of poems, stories, and pictures. Some of the works that spoke to me include “Smile”, “Life”, “Book Cover”, “Addiction”, “Moments”, and “The Bookstore”. These speak to me at this time in my life as they are about books, living alone, moments that have passed, and how addiction affects a person.
Here is a sample of “Time and Time Again”:
Time passes
Only when you impose a starting point
Removing that restriction
Allows for things to just…
Happen
Take time out of your novels and read a poem or a short story. You will be amazed as I was at how these short works will grab your heart.
Engaging and thought-provoking.
This is a fabulous collection of insightful prose poetry and meaningful sketches. The use of imagery and rhythm were spot on. My favourite were the Environment collection and Addiction. The short story at the end was very cleverly written and entertaining. Even though this is a quick read there is something that will connect with everyone.
4 Stars
“As I walk amidst the slowly approaching night, along the dry cobblestones, I hear music echoing through the narrow streets. It takes a few false turns before I discover the source. Bathed in the soft light of an open door, guitar and flute intertwine their melodies like a passionate dance between two lovers.
My presence, as I lean against the brightly painted wall across the street, goes unnoticed. I listen for as long as I can until prior engagements pry this unknown audience away, retreating into the darkness.”
Lines By Leon: Poems, Prose, and Pictures is a great mix of poetry, short stories, pictures, and cartoons. Easy to read, this book definitely gave me much to think about. The author touches on many topics:

-Ponderance and Muse
-Odds and Ends, Knick-Knacks, and Bric-a-brac
-Table Scraps
-The Surprise Page
-(&) Short Stories
…. full of though, sketches, insights, reflections, observations, humour, sarcasm, relationships, and more- all of which made for an entertaining read-.
