Dylan is an active SEAL on tour when he receives a call from home that will change his life. His brother has been murdered and it’s time to be there for his family. Emma his teen sweetheart had moved on and married their friend, only he died too. Dylan is determined to get to the bottom of this mystery. Why was his brother murdered? Can Dylan and Emma rekindle their love or is it too early to move on?
I was glued to my kindle as the story unfolded. It was fast paced and action packed.
Great book, I highly recommend it.
KB Winters knows how to write a great SEAL story! Dylan left home 8 years ago to serve his country. But when he left home, he left behind his first and true love, Emma, his parents, his brother Jimmy, and his friend Tommy. He had to get out of his small hometown, Brighton. He didn’t want the same, depressed life everyone in Brighton had, and he didn’t want to drag Emma all over the world while he was deployed on missions for the SEALs. So he left them all behind. 8 years later, he comes home, but not to visit, to come home to mourn his brother, who was murdered along with his childhood friend Tommy.
Suddenly, all the love he’s always felt for Emma is rushing back when he sees her again. But, he can’t have her, she’s mourning Tommy, whom she married after Dylan left her behind all those years ago. Dylan doesn’t know, though, that Emma and Tommy’s marriage wasn’t a happy one, and that Emma has never gotten over Dylan. When the two reunite, their chemistry is stronger than ever, and soon, they’re steaming up the sheets again. But, Dylan isn’t home to stay. And while he is home, he’s determined to find out who murdered Jimmy and Tommy, and take them out. So whatever is going on between Emma and Dylan has yet another expiration date, and Emma knows better than to put her heart on the line hoping Dylan will stay with her and help her raise her son.
Line of Fire is steamy, well written with fast paced action and a sweet second chance love. Kudos to KB for another great SEAL story!
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. I enjoyed this book. Wow, this book was loaded with all sorts of stuff going on in it, from murder/mystery, an Irish bar with an Irish wake, prostitution, drugs, human trafficking, Irish mafia, CIA, a SEAL bent on getting answers, revenge & the girl, a red headed woman, & a second chance relationship… LOL & somehow it all works without feeling bizarre. The beginning was a bit slow, but it was necessary for the world building & background details to fit the story together for the readers. But it did pick up speed at a certain point. The characters, Dylan & Emma, are likable enough to want to keep reading to find out what happens next. The ending was a bit abrupt, though it has a HEA. I guess I was expecting a ring & all the bells & whistles. Great creative writing!
