From USA Today bestselling Traci Andrighetti comes a tale of murder, mayhem, and meddling Sicilian grandmas…Francesca “Franki” Amato is a tough-talking rookie cop in Austin, Texas—until an unfortunate 911 call involving her boyfriend, Vince, and a German female wrestler convinces her once and for all that she just isn’t cut out for a life on the police force. So Franki makes the snap decision … decision to move to New Orleans to work at her friend Veronica’s detective agency, Private Chicks, Inc. But Franki’s hopes for a more stable life are soon dashed when Private Chicks is hired by the prime suspect in a murder case to find out what really happened to a beautiful young boutique manager who was found strangled to death with a cheap yellow scarf. When she’s not investigating, Franki is hoping to seduce handsome bank executive Bradley Hartmann, but most of her time is spent dodging date offers from a string of “good Italian boys”—make that not-so-good aging Italian men—that her meddlesome Sicilian grandma has recruited as marriage candidates. As Mardi Gras approaches and the mystery of the murdered shop girl gets more complicated, Franki must decipher the odd ramblings of a Voodoo priestess to solve both the murder and the mystery of her own love life.

I really enjoyed this book, the cast and setting was just so colourful and I had no problem imagining the scenes unfold as I was swept on the roller coaster ride that is Franki’s life.
You would think being a policewoman was hard work but that is a piece of cake compared to being a Pi, dealing with family, cheating boy friends, voodoo priestess, …
It was a funny book with lots of action. It’s about a former policewoman who quits to join her friend in a new PI business. From following cheating spouses to solving murders this is a hilarious book.
Good start for a new series. Fun and quirky characters which I love. I also really like that its set in one of my favorite cities NOLA!
This author and this book, actually bought Limoncello to try it.
Enjoyable
I listened to the audio version. The narrator was easy to follow. She did an excellent job with the distinction between the different voices. There was one that was a little less clear, but I think with so many characters it’s quite the feat to reach that level of distinction. The voice was a little sharp, but nothing too annoying. …
I have read Traci Andrighetti’s other series. This was my first Franki Amato Mystery and it did not disappoint. After getting nowhere as a police officer in Texas and catching her boyfriend cheating, Franki abruptly decides to move to New Orleans to join her best friend’s PI firm. The first big case the ladies get is a murder. A high end store …
This book is interesting and entertaining with some chuckles along the way. I enjoyed reading it and looking forward to reading more about Franki.
I liked that the story had so many surprising twists.
Great character & fantastic setting. Such an unpredictable storyline!
This was a fun book, laying the ground work for the Franki Amato series. While it was a little lighter and still finding it’s place, I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and learning just what makes Franki tick. Started the 2nd book immediately after I finished this one and I have to say….it was even better! Getting ready to start #3 …
I started this and lost interest. I found the language rougher than I like and it didn’t appear it would get better. I may try it again later
I thought it would be a great read since the cover indicates that it was made into a movie. I found it a bit too silly and unimaginative at times as well as a bit over the top…ludicrous. The author was inconsistent, for instance she would begin to draw me into thInking her writing (plot) had some real substance and direction, but then she would …
Sometimes ones brain just needs to rest and refresh. This was good for that.
Laugh out loud funny. Great characters and just keep getting better with each book. Can’t wait for #4.
I can’t wait to read the rest of her books
I really liked the characters in the story. Laughed out loud a number of times. Didn’t know what the ending would be until the end!
A fun read. The movie should be good.
Quick, easy and fun read.
Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
A very fast read. I laughed out loud on some parts of this book. So Sicilian.
