Like You Hurt is book two in the Devilbend Dynasty series and is just as amazing as book one. Donna and Hendrix story was addicting and fantastic. I’m in love with this series from Kaydence Snow. Donna and Hendrix had me completely hooked. I’m not sure what Snow did but I was completely mesmerized by this book.
We meet Donna in book one and when I realized her book was going to be book two I just couldn’t wait for it. Donna is rich, spoiled, gorgeous, and smart. But you know what they say not everything is how it seems. Donna is hiding behind the facade she has put up because no one can ever know the part of herself she is hiding. The last person she ever thought would see that side of her is Hendrix. Hendrix Hawthorne is sexy, smart, and cocky. But much like Donna everything isn’t how it seems. Hendrix is hiding deep dark secrets and the reason he came to Fulton.
Hendrix and Donna have this force that is just pulling them together, and they just couldn’t fight it no matter how hard they tried. Their story was real and I couldn’t help but love them. In the end they were two broken people who pieces fit together. They found strength in each other and were able to face their issues.
The sparks fly from the moment they meet and not in the good way. Both too willing to judge the other far too easy. Neither really willing to admit what you see is not always what you get. These two are the perfect example of having everything you think you want is not always everything you need. Happiness isn’t found in objects and these two definitely had to figure that out.
Kaydence Snow delivered an amazing, addicting story that had me on the edge of my chair while reading. She gives us an amazing plot, with fantastic characters, that’s well written. The Devilbend Dynasty is quickly becoming a must read series.
Like You Hurt is Book 2 in the Devilbend Dynasty Series by Kaydence Snow. This book follows Donna and Hendrix.
We first met Donna in Mena’s book Like You Care. Rich and entitled, Donna is the Queen. She’s extremely fierce and protective of those she cares about but she’s also enduring her own personal hell that no one knows about.
Hendrix is the new guy. He’s mysterious and gorgeous. His past is dark but he’s determined to right the wrongs in his past. He’s also ready to push all Donna’s buttons.
When Donna and Hendrix collide it’s explosive! Their connection is palpable throughout.
This book is riddled with mystery and intrigue, scorching hot hookups and true character development.
Kaydence has written another great book for this series and you will not be disappointed.
4.5 Stars!
Tears galore!!
This book is beautifully raw and full of so much angst. Donna and Hendrix are flawed and damaged and could possibly be seen as the worst thing for each other but they are exactly what the other needs! Their internal struggles, self doubt and crippling self destruct, along with hindsight, empathy and understanding is wonderful to see.
Can’t wait to see what girls story is to come next to get another sneak peak into their lives. This series is fantastic, unique and action packed with loveable, relatable and interesting characters!!
A MUST READ!!
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Book Two of the DevilBend Dynasty is finally here and I am here for it! Kaydence took her series and made it so good that I couldn’t stop reading for anything. Forget doing anything but reading this book.
Unlike the first book in the series, this one is dual POV so I really felt as though I connected to it so much better than that one. The first one is still a fantastic read, but the dual POV in this one just made it that much better.
Donna is fantastic. Her character arc and growth throughout the book is top notch and I felt a deep and personal connection to her. And then we have Hendrix and you cannot help but FALL so deep for this guy that you don’t even know when it happened. Hendrix pushed his way onto my book boyfriend list and I’m not even mad about it.
Kaydence took these two and created a thrilling masterpiece of angst that will have you begging for more when it’s all over. Even when you think you know what’s coming, you really have no idea. Each and every detail captivates you and pulls you in, having you craving even more with each page that you turn.
Five stars for this captivating romance that won’t let you go until you reach the end, and even then, you’re asking, begging, for more.
This is the story of Donna and Hendrix, an enemies to lovers trope romance story, but with a twist, Donna is the one doing the bullying, so take this ride into Fulton Academy new player and the queen bee of the school. Definitely enjoyed the twist, Hendrix got my full heart, his past is so heartbreaking and because we are so used to the girl being the centered and bullied one, I like the refreshing twist in the story. I recommend this book as well, it can be read as stand-alone but you might like to read the previous book as well. I wish to see this made into an audiobook.
I like that this book had a little bit of a twist on the whole enemies to lovers/bully romance. Donna was more the bully to Hendrix and she played the role well. I loved Hendrix and hated that he thought his past defined him but loved that he chose to help someone else. His past is so heartbreaking and I can only imagine how that would change someone. As much as I loved Hendrix, I really disliked Donna. I was looking forward to her story. I don’t know if it’s because the whole “dark” Donna was put out there so early but to me, it just wasn’t working. I loved how loyal she was to her family and friends but that’s the extent of my love for all things Donna. I did love Mena, Turner, Harlow and Amaya in this story and all the angst and drama we got along the way. Hendrix was for sure my favorite of them all.
I’m loving this series. We met Donna in the first book. Right then I knew she’d be a force to reckon with. The way she stood up for Mena and had her back, you could tell she was a tough one that didn’t let anyone get anything over on her.
I love a strong female character and that’s exactly what you get with Donna. But, it was so nice to see her vulnerability and her interactions with Hendrix…. whew …. you could tell together they would be explosive. Their book is exciting and fun to read with danger coming right at ya. Wonderful series….can’t wait for more.

The Devilbend Dynasty series is one that quite simply has put a smile on my face. After reading Like You Care I was immediately excited to read the next book in the series. Donna was a standout secondary character in Like You Care and she didn’t disappoint in her own story.
Kaydence Snow has such a comfortable writing style. I don’t know how else to describe it. Her writing just feels so natural. It is witty without being too over the top. When you open up one of her books you just want to kick your shoes off and make yourself at home in the pages. This book had my head spinning with all of the plot twists. I was on the edge of my seat anticipating everything. I was really pleased with the way the author plotted out the book.
Donna and Hendrix were such wonderful and complex characters. They had so much depth and so much character growth in the story. I really loved that they were not without flaws. The author wasn’t afraid to show their gritty side right along with the shiny side. Both Donna and Hendrix battle their own personal demons in the story and I really enjoyed the journey that both of them took. The secondary characters in this series are fantastic! I am so very thrilled to read the final two books in this series.
Donna and Hendrix had a love story that felt so genuine. I really loved that they could tap into the pieces of each other that no one else picked up on. They were so in sync with one another because they shared many of the same demons. It really made them quite the pair. Not to mention the fact that their chemistry was dynamite. Their banter and back and forth had me fanning myself. They had such an intense connection.
Overall, this is a story that really grabbed me from the first page. These fantastic characters, compelling plot, and top-notch writing really make this book shine. I am looking forward to the next book in this series!
I am getting more into bully romances lately and this one just went to the top of my list. I love that the bully in this story is Donna, the female. Most stories features the male making it difficult for the female and this was a nice turn. The tension is high and the attraction is higher, even when they’re fighting. I enjoyed this so much!
Wow… Kaydence writes characters that are so relatable it’s unreal. In this one, we have Donna, the oldest of the Devilbend Dynasty girls. She’s the fixer and the mother hen of the group. Keeping everything managed has taken its toll though and she needs an outlet. If there’s anyone that understands needing an outlet, it’s Hendrix, but he’s vowed never to go there again. Yet, time and time again he finds himself drawn to the feisty blonde. These two are set up for a collision. Will there be anything left once the dust settles?
If you have any doubts, grab this one. It doesn’t disappoint for the push and pull relationship dynamics or the continued drama and mystery of the Bestlyf group undercurrent throughout the series. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Donna and Hendrix had an intense chemistry that led to some insanely hot moments, but it also led to some intense emotional moments between them.
These 2 had so much in common and I loved how Hendrix saw in her what she hid from the rest of the world. I giggled at some of the girl’s banter and shed a few tears over some of the more intense moments. I love the fierce loyalty and love the girls have for each other.
I will be anxiously waiting for the next book from the Devilbend Dynasty girls.
Whoa, Donna!
What a trip back to Devilbend! I couldn’t wait to read Donna’s story, and I was not disappointed.
Donna is perfection personified: beautiful, intelligent, driven, accomplished. But maintaining that perfection comes at a cost she doesn’t want anyone to see. Hendrix might just understand better than anyone, but all he wants to do is go unnoticed and move on after graduation.
Hendrix is the best. He and Donna really have that delicious tension as they struggle against each other. There’s a lot of push and pull with each other, and Donna quite often made me want to throttle her. She really has control issues, and doesn’t know how to let anyone help her. Hendrix just sees through that facade, and I loved how he fights to get through to her and never gives up on her.
A great read, I hope there’s more trips back to Devilbend in my future.
This is the second book in the Devilbend Dynasty series, and the story of Hendrix. and Donna. When Hendrix ends up having to finish his senior year at a new school, he crosses paths with Donna, the schools reigning Queen Bee. When her refuses to bow at her feet, Donna has plans to make him pay. This was another great read, well written, engaging, witty, emotional, intense, gritty, steamy, and dramatic.
I received an advance copy of this from Wildfire marketing on behalf of the author. All opinions are my own.
When I read Like You Care a couple of months back, I fell in love. With this author’s writing, with Devilbend and the crazy kids that call it home. I didn’t think anything could top it and was fixing to put it high up on my Best of 2020 list.
Then Like You Hurt came along. This. Was. Brilliant.
You meet Donna in LYC (she’s the MC’s cousin) and TBH she’s a bit of a bitch. And in this she still is, but you find out why. And she meets her match in Hendrix, a transplant with a big chip on his shoulder.
Again I went into this expecting one thing and got all my expectations turned on their heads and got given something BETTER.
She knows where she is headed. Her future is all mapped out in her head.
He hasn’t a clue what happens after the year is done.
She is the Queen bee. Loved and adored, popular and in control.
He was the king, now he’s just a guy who’s trying to survive.
Is there a common ground somewhere?
Wowsers!! what a remarkable read! I loved the unique take on the bully genre. It’s both refreshing and much needed.
This is the second book in the Fulton Academy, devilbend dynasty series and its time to put Donna under the microscope.
She’s not as cool, calm and collected as she first appeared to be, and I freaking loved watching her unravel.
It may of slowly broken my heart to witness it all, but it was worth the pain.
Her secrets and lies made me gasp in shock. The thrill she chased had me clinging to my seat, hoping praying she didnt push too far for the high, the relief, the freedom.
Hendrix has the coolest name ever!!
He has the patience of a saint, with regards to the students at the school and their behaviour towards him.
I loved how he hated her and all she stood for, but at the same time wanted to save her from herself.
The angst and drama in this book kept me glued to my kindle, unable to put it down for even a moment.
Kaydence Snow is fast becoming one of my favourite authors to read. I love her style of writing and the characters she brings to life are both unique and spectacular.
This is the 2nd book in this awesome series and is Donna and Hendrix’s story. Donna is the queen of the school, and Hendrix is new and despite her being intrigued by him, he wants nothing to do with her as he has his own secrets to deal with. These two butt heads from the beginning and he threatens her control as he sees the person underneath the persona which she presents, and they bring out the best and worse of each other. This is a well written story which is dark and intense and filled with drama, angst, secrets, loyalty, emotion, suspense, and love. I cannot wait to read more from this author, and I highly recommend her this for all enemies / lovers’ stories.
After reading Like You Care I couldn’t wait for Like You Hurt.
And I absolutely loved it!
Donna has it all – the looks, the money and the power. She’s always miss perfect and little by little she’s getting more and more tired of it. She rebels in a form of sneaking out in a club during the weekends, dressed imperfectly, she acts like it’s her last day to live and she really seases the day!
Hendrix is more similiar to her then she would like to admit. He’s rich, he once had it all, but now he just wants to live and to forget.
He goes to her school, and by turning her down, he makes himself her target. She bullies him in all the harmless ways. After all, the whole school listens to her and she doesn’t even have to lift a finger to do some harm.
One night he goes to the club… and that one night changes everything.
I loved Donna and Hendrix, she was so sweet even when she was acting as if she wasn’t. And Hendrix!!! He was my favourite. Such a great guy.
And such a sweet story!

HOLY CRAP DO I LOVE DONNA AND HENDRIX!!!
Right away, I’m deviating from this book by saying that I was not the biggest fan of the first book, Like You Care, mainly because of Turner. But I liked Turner so much in this book.
Anyways, Donna is a POWERHOUSE! I adore her character. Her personality. HER.
Don’t get me wrong, I was frustrated with her at some points but it just made her better. It made her real. Donna is the “perfect” daughter, the “perfect” student, the “perfect sister, the “perfect” everything. She’s trying to deal with the weight of being the best when Hendrix comes out of nowhere and it makes her reevaluate. Yes, she’s perfect but it’s not real, it’s a front.
And Hendrix. Oh, Hendrix, Hendrix, Hendrix. He is past being “perfect” and is now just trying to be “better”. He knows how Donna is feeling, he’s gone through it. Their lives are so similar and he doesn’t want Donna to go down the road he did. They don’t always get along, but in the small moments they do, he wants to help her. He may not be perfect but he is EVERYTHING. He is the “bad boy” with a heart of gold. I kept falling in love with him over and over. Every time I thought his character couldn’t get better, he DID.
Holy smokes, the romance was Magnifique. Donna and Hendrix are both incredibly stubborn so it just made the hate-to-love so deliciously sweet. I loved the build of it. In a sense, it is kind of slow-burn but it’s so satisfying. Watching them learn to trust each other was beautiful and I am so glad I continued with this series.
The mystery with Bestlyfe keeps building and I cannot wait for them to be revealed and destroyed in the next books.
Donna and Hendrix destroyed me in the best way possible. I loved these two. They are two broken people who find comfort in one another.
Donna has a loving family, a great group of friends, a future all planned out and she rules Fulton Academy. However, she is also a living another life. A life that no one else in her close circle knows about. I loved her, even though she frustrated me at times. You can’t help but love her and want her to be happy throughout the story. Hendrix is new to Fulton Academy. He isn’t there to make friends. He just wants to get good grades and fly under the radar, unfortunately that doesn’t happen the moment Donna and her crew spot him. Hendrix’s past is heartbreaking, I felt for him and can’t even begin to imagine what he must feel. He see’s something in Donna, he see’s glimpses of his old life and wants to help her, he wants to save her from herself.
I loved the chemistry and the tension between Donna and Hendrix from the start. You could feel the energy between them jumping off the pages. They were addicting and it was hard to turn away. They way that Hendrix tries to help Donna is amazing. You can see how caring he is and how much he has changed as a person from his old life.
Like You Hurt is an angst filled, emotional romance. This book will completely suck you in and you won’t be able to look away. A MUST READ!
Their love hurts so good! 4 stars
I think this books stands alone even though I have read the first book in this series since this is Donna’s story (the first book was her cousin Mena’s story). Donna was the quintessential perfect girl that has her life all planned out. She was smart, fierce, independent and loyal to her friends and family. But can anyone be perfect? What happens when she’s tired of trying to be perfect? She needs an outlet. That’s where/when Hendrix arrives. He was new to Donna’s school, but he just wants to be left alone because of what happened in his past that made him transfer to this school. Donna can’t believe the new guy didn’t fall at her feet. When she goes to the one place she can let her down that no one knows she goes and sees Hendrix there, all bets are off! They had connection and heat between them which led to bickering, and it was so entertaining! I did enjoy Donna until a certain point then I became frustrated, but by the end her journey to be real instead of perfect moved me. Once Hendrix shares his past, I was moved to tears for him. As they bicker, they also get to know each other, trust each other and feel safe with each other. What do you think happened?! They realized their hate to love hurts so good, and I savored every minute of it! I definitely recommend this book, and I can’t wait for the next couple/book!
