I am nothing.Nobody.I’d rather be invisible than deal with what happens on the days my classmates decide to acknowledge my existence. But then Turner Hall shows up – all cool confidence and witty banter – and all of a sudden I don’t want to be invisible any more. I want to be seen.I want him to see me.I’m not who he thinks I am but I’m starting to suspect he’s not all he says he is either.Just my … he’s not all he says he is either.
Just my luck that he starts to make friends with my tormentors. How am I supposed to tell him who I really am? How am I supposed to show him my true face? What if the boy I’m falling in love with decides I’m nothing too?

Wow Like You Care by Kaydence Snow was amazing and Heartbreaking .I was really hooked right from the beginning of this book and I couldn’t put it down . I devoured this book in 4 hours . I love Mena was Such a strong person and the stuff she went through was literally heartbreaking I don’t understand why kids are so mean all the time and I cried quite a few times . This book took me through quite a ringer of emotions and I am looking forward to reading the next book like you hurt . Kaydence snow your are
phenomenal writer!!!!
Overall, this book was a pretty good read, but it did get off to a bit of a slow start for me. The best part of the book for me was the premise behind it… I love a good “secret identify” story, people not being who they seem, and falling for someone’s personality as opposed to looks. Mena and Turner were great characters, both separately and together, and I liked watching them fall for each other. As I said, decent read, just prepare for a slow beginning. I prefer books that start and end with a bang!
Kaydence Snow is absolutely amazing!! This was my first book by her!! I must say I absolutely loved it!! It definitely made me feel all types of emotions.
Mena has always looked different from the other kids at her school. She hides and tries to stay invisible to the bullies at her school. When she meets her new neighbor they instantly form a bond, but will she trust him enough to reveal herself?
Interesting bully romance that will tug at your heart
This book was a different type of bully romance than I’ve read previously in that it wasn’t there lead male doing the bullying but instead a group of mean girls that were super entitled. I cried buckets of tears for Mena as she had to undergo so much emotional distress at the hands off these vindictive bullies. I liked that she was able to connect with Turner emotionally first before they became physical. Turner really cared for Mena and it was frustrating to see how he had to try to go along with the bullies for the first half- I do wish we’d gotten to see things a little more from his perspective. Definitely read this book if you want to unique take on emotional bullying.
This book was perfection. Full of twist and turns. Bullying that is taken way to far, which sadly happens way to often, and a loving and caring young man who finally stands up for what’s right. Mena suffers through a lot of horrible bullying from her classmates, and not only that but suffers in silence. Until Turner comes along and things start to change. It was lovely witnessing them from a bond and fall in love, and the support of her cousin’s was amazing. I really enjoyed reading this book.
Like You Care is a bully romance like no other one out there that I have read. Prologue had me going WTF. The rest of the story had me turning the pages with the need to know more. My emotions were all over the place. I did think there was one part of the plot that could have been explored some more, but I still loved it!
I didn’t see this one coming, and I’m glad I read it, it touches something that happens in daily basis, and love the approach that the author had, and how she integrates everything in the story from the characters to the story, and the end, I really enjoyed this one though it put me through tears at some points, and read it in a couple of hours I’m really glad that I read it, I highly recommend this one .
5 stars for Like you Care by Kaydence Snow. This is book 1 in the Devilbend Dynasty series. I started this book in the Bully Me Anthology and I was hooked. I was in a book slump until I finally got to finish this book. I will start by saying that I wanted to throat punch Tuner, but I did get over it. Mena is a character that everyone will love and feel for. She has gone through so much . This is a bully romance taken to the next level. Mena has been picked on to the extreme, because she has a birthmark on her face. She meets Turner but does not want him to know who she is. She is afraid of what he will think, “I’m not falling for your looks, Mena. I’m falling for your personality. And this fine body.” What happens when Turner finds out what will he do? “Secrets like that only have power while they’re still secret.” Mena has been fighting these bullies on her own for years and she is ready to be done with everything. Her cousins have her back and Donna is a complete bada**. I can not wait to read her story. I loved every second of this book. Mena and Tuner have chemistry that makes you want to be them, however both of them have issues and are fighting battles. “Life is war. And I refuse, to lose a single battle.” I am ready to read more from these characters. Kaydence Snow is amazing and this book just shows to why.
Like You Care is a slow-burn, High school bully book.
I liked that Mena and Turner get to know each other kind of anonymously due to their balcony setup. Mena has lots of self esteem issues from a birth mark, and is bullied mercilessly at school so it makes it hard for her to trust others or their motivations. Though Turner joins her group of tormentors, he never bullies Mena which is a nice twist in a bully book. I liked their characters together. I also really liked her crew of friends that attend the private school in her town. My only dislike is I wish it had been longer.
This was my first Kaydence Snow book, and I’m definitely going to check out more of her work.
I loved this story! It made me laugh, cry, and smile!
This is a great bully romance but the guy is not the bully. I was excited I got to love him from the start. There are instances where you question his actions and intentions.
I read the first half of Like You Care in the Bully Me: Class of 2020 Anthology and loved it. The storyline and the characters are fantastic. Kaydence Snow’s writing style pulled me in from page 1 and kept my attention the whole way through. By the time I got to the end, I was obsessed with the hero and heroine, Tucker and Mena, and I couldn’t wait for the full length novel to be released to find out their fate!
Now that I’ve read it, how do I feel about the book overall?
I loved it! It was easy to slide back into the story immediately, and just like before, I read it all in one sitting. This is my first read from this author, and she definitely made a hell of an impression!
What did I enjoy most about the story?
Hands down, the characters!
Tucker is the perfect combination of hot and sweet. I usually have a thing for the assholes and the bad boys, but I would let Tucker in my harem for sure. He’s protective, thoughtful, respectful, and just all around swoonworthy. Any girl would be lucky to have a Tucker in her life.
Mena suffers unmerciful bullying at school in large part due to a birthmark on her face, but she is determined not to let that define her or destroy her happiness. I loved her strength, spirit, and development over the course of the novel.
Aside from the assholes that regularly tormented her and tried to make her life hell, Mena had some amazing people in her corner. Her family and friends supported her unconditionally. They came together when she needed them most and would do absolutely anything for her.
If you love to see healthy, positive, and downright beautiful female friendships portrayed in books, look no further, friends! Mena’s relationship with her cousins/friend group was a highlight of the book for me. They are the epitome of a girl gang, and I definitely want to read more about them in the future!
New adult romance fans, this one’s for you!
*Side note: If bully romance usually isn’t your thing, because you don’t enjoy the hero being a dick to the heroine, you don’t have to worry about that here! The hero is not the bully in this story.*
Forgive the pun, but this romance packs quite the punch! I finished it in one sitting! Kaydence Snow took my heart and my mind captive!!!!
I have recently begun reading some of the dark/ bully romances, but this one is different from the others I have read. Mena is the victim of bullying that has been ongoing for years. However, her love interest, Turner, is not one of her tormentors.
Mena was born with a birthmark, and her fellow students just use that as one excuse to torment her. First it began with her being invisible, but it progressed into something more dangerous and sinister. At times, it was so hard to read about Mena’s experiences. I was on the verge of tears; I raged at those who mistreated her so badly! My heart broke for her. However, she did have such a great network of support as well, her cousins, her parents, and her small circle of friends!
I enjoyed the mystery surrounding the mystery of Turner as well. It added an element of intrigue of mystery and suspense to an already good book! As Mena has secrets, so does Turner, and his secrets connect everything happening within the plot.
In addition to great characters, I also loved the storyline. Snow really knows how to use emotions to connect her readers to the story and the characters. The beginning of the romance between Mena and Turner was cloaked in intrigue as well! The slow burn romance between them was a winner too!!!
I have to say that Snow’s choice of a title was a stroke of genius….the meaning of those words can have different connotations. “Like You Care” could mean acting like you have genuine feelings for someone and could also be used in the sarcastic, mean way of saying, “Oh, like you care!” She did a great job of incorporating both of those meanings seamlessly within the plotline. I just love when everything connects within a book…from the title to the ending!!!!
Kaydence Snow is a new writer to me, and I’m so glad I discovered her. I cannot wait to read more from her in the immediate future…LIKE NOW!!!!
I met Mena & Turner for the first time in the Bully Me: Class of 2020 anthology that came out a couple months ago. I only got to read half of the book in the anthology but I was hooked and I needed to know exactly what happened. This book had secrets, bullies and dangerous situations lurking around the corner. I think this was honestly one of the worst bully situations I’ve read and it hooked me in the prologue. I did feel that it kind of slowed down a bit for the first few chapters but it picked up big time and kept me glued for the rest of the book.
Mena meets Turner when he moves in next door to her and they hit it off right away, not knowing that the two of them have more in common than they realize. Keeping their relationship a secret from the people at her school is the only way that Mena thinks she can keep her bullies away & her ability to keep the guy she’s quickly falling for. Torn between whether he would stand up for her/with her and worried he would just toss her aside for popularity is what puts these two in the dark but what keeps them there is Turner’s secrets! When things get more dangerous everyone is pushed to make decisions.
Mena’s cousins and friends are definitely my favorite characters in this story. These girls are the type of girls I love reading about: strong, determined and fierce…loyal to a fault. I loved them! I really enjoyed Like You Care but there were times when I was saddened by Mena’s character…sad because I feel like she could have put a stop to the bullying long ago. At the same time, I also try to remember that she represents the population of people who are genuinely scared to stand up for themselves. Whether it’s because of pure fear or they already have tried and it never amounted to anything. I love the girl that Mena grows into and I truly love how Turner helps motivate her.
That prologue and the jokes that Mena & Turner toss around right off the bat combined with how quickly they clicked is what hooked me. The secrets & danger is what kept me!
This is my first time reading anything from this author, and I really enjoyed this book. This is the story of Mena, and Turner. Mena is bullied relentlessly at school, but when she makes friends with her neighbor, she finds someone to talk to, that is until he starts to befriend her bullies. This was an emotional read, intense, raw, and gritty.
Like You Care by Kaydence Snow is the first book I’ve read by this author and won’t be the last!!
This story was so well written and so different from typical bully romances I read. This book had bullying but it was not at the hands of the Hero.
Mena has struggled since moving to town. Viciously bullied for her appearance, she’s learned to blend in and stay invisible as much as possible at DevilBend North High.
When a new guy moves next store, she forms a bond deeper than she could imagine. Turner is funny and interesting and most of all kind. From nightly conversations on her balcony she knows Turner is different…. but what will he think of her when he sees her?
Mena and Turner have a slow burn romance that develops throughout the story. I love the chemistry between these 2 because it’s a deep connection.
This story is worth the read. A bully romance riddled with secrets and twists that you’ll never expect!!
5 stars!
My thoughts about Like You Care
This is my first book by Kaydence Snow and I was seriously amazed at how good it was.
I immediately had a connection with Mena. I thought she was nice, tough and unique. That someone who gets bullied that bad still does her daily things, but still tries to hide from a boy with who she is deeply in love with. It was really sad to read how much she was ashamed of herself.
It was great to read how interested she was in makeup.
I found Turner very unusual at first. Certainly needed time to get used to him. He had his own problems and tried to hide them by hanging out with the cool kids. Those were the most horrible parts. Each time I thought: do something about it! The reasons why were not understandable at first. At the end of this book, it was.
The friendship, relationship, etc. between Mena and Turner was a secret. Very exciting because I absolutely wanted to know how it would end between them.
It was a very intense book. Written raw so that the emotions become your own.
“I didn’t want my life to be dictated by bullies. It wasn’t fucking fair.”
Writingstyle
Kaydence’s writing style is very pleasant to read. A lot of tension that just wanted me want to know what was going to happen.
“No one cared about me. No one. How could this have happened to me if they did? What was the point in trying to tell someone when they didn’t care to listen?”
Conclusion
Anyone who loves bully romances and is waiting for a great ending, this is the book to read.
“He was the best thing that had happened to me in a long time. But was he who I thought he was? Or was I so desperate for human interaction that I was seeing something that wasnt there?”
This was my first read from this author and I quite enjoyed it. She brought us a tale that held your attention filled with emotion, heartbreak, angst and love.
The characters were intriguing and you either loved them, Mena, Donna, Tucker or hate them ie. the school bullies. I loved Mena’s strength, considering the hell she was dealing with at school and in her life she was amazingly strong.
I am looking forward to seeing how this author moves this series forward
4 Stars!
Being new to Ms.Snow’s work I couldn’t wait to pick this book up! From the prologue this story had me wanting more of it and I loved how quickly it pulled me in. I couldn’t stop reading and had to finish it in one sitting!
Mena’s journey was far from an easy one. My heart broke for her, I felt for her so much, and I wanted to hug her many times throughout. She was such a strong character. I really enjoyed the connection between her and Turner and what it brought to the story.
I adored Mena’s friendships with Donna, Harlow, and Amaya as well! This story kept me on my toes and it sure brought out my emotions!
With Like You Care, Ms.Snow has created a read that will grab your heart and make you feel it all! I can’t wait for more Devilbend Dynasty books especially, Donna’s book, Like You Hurt to be released!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
Mena (Philomena) is tormented daily by the more than mean girls and guys at her school, all because she has one birthmark on her face, and because she’s not from the rich side of town. But this is not the kind of bullying you may be used to hearing about, it’s much, much worse, and poor Mena faces it all alone. She knows she can’t tell her parents because it would necessitate them leaving their jobs that keep the rent barely paid and food barely on the table, to come to the school and talk with the officials about it. She’s tried telling teachers, but they don’t care, don’t do anything to stop it. So she goes to school every day and tries to make herself as invisible as possible so her tormentors might not see her and degrade her. Then she hears a deep voice from her new neighbor while hanging out on her balcony. They can’t see each other, but they can talk. And talk they do, and flirt, and somehow become something. Will the relationship last once he sees her? Will it make it if she tells Turner who she is?
My God, now this, this is how you do a bully romance. It’s tense and edgy and angsty, and the twisty part makes it even more addicting reading. I absolutely loved this story. Mena is just…God, I felt for this girl as she fought her loneliness and her pain, and how she grew in her own skin as she realized there were people who had her back, who loved her unconditionally. And Turner, I wanted to hug him when he told Mena his story. I admit I shed a few tears over these two. And I loved every second of their emotional, painful journey. I hope there are many, many more characters to get their own stories because all of Mena’s crew are as awesome as she is and deserve their stories to be told, too.
Snow just wreaked me with this book! The prologue really sucks you in, you’re dying to know what’s happening. I loved Mena! Snow introduced me to something that I was never even aware of with this book and It completely stole my heart! This bully book will have you ready to square up! These girls are savage and so jealous! I would have loved to knock them down a peg for sweet Mena! Snow ripped all my emotions out! There’s also a lot of mystery surrounding Turner, lots of secrets being kept! And when the truth comes out you are knocked on your a33! I was so not expecting that! Turner and Mena have a sweet and pulse-pounding relationship, they are a slow burn. I loved them so much! Turner was the perfect gentleman, I loved how much he cared for Mena. Mena’s cousin and their friends were a special group, they were there when it counted and really came through for her. I’m really excited to see what comes next for the girls of Devilbend Dynasty. I read the first 10 chapters of this in the Bully Me anthology and I was so gripped! Like You Care is one of those books that stays with you, Mena will always be in my heart! I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
