A steamy and angsty coming of age stand-alone that will pull at every heart string. Twists and turns that keep you on your toes, and characters who are forced to open up old wounds from their past.
Jasper rolled into my life like a loose wagon wheel—taking out everything in his path just to get to me. It was all for show, until it wasn’t. No part of me was prepared to be swept away. After all, … be swept away. After all, gravity is supposed to keep us grounded. He had other plans, and didn’t give a damn about the chaos we were about to unleash. They say secrets are like a silent death. Only, I never knew the depth of it until now.
I never saw Blakely coming, but when I did, there was no chance I was letting her get away. She’s a walking disaster, always leaving a trail of smoke in her wake. And me? I’m the sorry bastard who kept following her—that is, until she sucked the air right out of my lungs, just to keep her own filled. She’s a queen through and through. A spoiled rich girl that reaps no consequences, until she did. I’m that consequence, and I know her dirty little secret.
☆☆☆☆☆I loved it beginning to end and it was exactly what I needed to be able to escape the real world for a few hours and get caught up in their unexpected love story. -Dirty Reads Book Blog
☆☆☆☆☆She definitely keeps the reader on their toes. Such an extraordinary love story. My one an only complaint is it left me wanting more! A highly recommended read. If you like steamy, romantic completely interesting love stories then this book is for you! -Goodreads Reviewer

Wow! This book was hard to put down. I may or may not have gotten snappy when someone tried to talk to me while I was reading… I went into this book without knowing much about it and it was not what I was expecting (in a good way!).
I enjoyed this book and I already want to read the rest in the series. It was very addictive and there was a real heart to the story. There was something sweet about Jasper and Blakely — despite the fact that neither were really all that sweet themselves. I liked that Jasper kept trying with her. She’s not an easy nut to crack and she needed someone who saw the good in her and was determined to make her see it too. These two had some character growth that was good to see. However, these two are loaded with issues and I knew they couldn’t be tackled in one book. So, it’s up to us to imagine Blakely and Jasper navigating a relationship and their own lives in the future.
Jasper is angry- with his dad for moving them and with the circumstances surrounding his mother’s death.
Blakely is an insecure mean girl with a tragic home life. As she is knocked off her status at school and she is falling apart, Jasper ends up being the one to catch her and call her out.
They begin to spend time together as school partners and neighbors. There is a push and pull as they fight for balance. Jasper refuses to settle into his new home and Blakely wants to make the people who have wronged her pay.
Jasper is holding onto graduation when he can break free at college. Blakely is waiting out the circumstances of obtaining her trust fund to finally be free of her parents.
Learning the truth of his mother’s death brings Jasper to his knees and lashing out. Blakely is caught in the middle of the tradedy. Letting go of the past and accepting a future together helps them both heal.
Well written, keeps you on your toes as secrets are revealed. The absolute pain these two characters feel comes thru the pages and grabs your heart.
Jasper to Blakely:
“You don’t have to thank me, Queen B.” “Yes, I do. I don’t know why you are so kind to me. I certainly don’t deserve it, but you are. and I’m…” I stutter as I search for the words, “grateful.” “You deserve so much more than you think. I just hope one day you see it.” He pulls me into his chest, and I melt in his arms.
This is the first book I have read by Rachel Leigh and it certainly won’t be my last. I found the story and characters totally believable. The jealousy of Blakelys’ best friend, the relationship developing between her best friends soon to be step brother(Jasper) to the heartbreaking discovery Jasper found out. This book had it all. It had some hot moments along with angst. All in all I would definitely recommend. Looking forward to the 2nd book in the series about Blakelys’ best friend Knox.
Jasper and Blakely are fire and ice when they get together. Blakely has secrets that Jasper knows about and will expose if he can mange it. Jasper believed Blakely was different at first until she showed her true self. A highly charged enemies to lovers read.
Like Gravity, the first book in the Redwood High series, was an angsty and heart-wrenchingly raw romance that gripped every inch of my soul that drew me in right from the start. The moment that I dove in, I found myself deeply lost among the pages and wholeheartedly invested in these characters and their complicated journeys.
Blakely Porter and Jasper Scott’s story was an enemies-to-lovers romance at its finest and I freaking loved every second of their journey. Their chemistry lit my kindle on FIRE and I felt this aching burn in my chest the entire time I devoured their story. I adored the push and pull approach that the author took and the suspense that she intertwined throughout the pages. There was amazing depth in this coming of age story and I appreciated the growth that these characters experienced throughout. Everything about this story captivated me and there wasn’t a single dull moment between these two.
The first book in the Redwood High series was amazing and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the series has to hold…which luckily I am about to find out because I am diving right into the next book, Like You!
This was a new to me author and one I’ll definitely be reading the rest of the series of.
Although it took a while to get into, once the walls came down and we saw the real characters (Not fake fronts) I started getting more invested.
Looking forward to seeing them in next book and finding out K’s fate.
I enjoyed Jasper and Blakely’s story. There’s a lot of animosity between them until they work through their preconceived notions of each other. They’re both teenagers dealing with a lot of family and friend drama, with tenuous grasps on their anger and defensive attitudes. I like that they bring out softer sides of each through the story. I really liked how Jasper was quick to take care of Blakely when she really needed someone. I liked them as a couple and thought they fit well together.
What would have made me like the story more would have been some expansion on the timeline of their relationship. I would have liked to have seen them have more time to develop their emotional attachment. I also wish I could have seen more flashbacks of Blakely before Jasper was on the scene. We are told repeatedly that she was terrible, mean and materialistic. But all we are shown is her being treated horribly by everyone else.
Overall a good read, and I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of the series.
As a reader I love getting introduced to new authors and Rachel Leigh is definitely one you don’t want to miss. Like Gravity is unlike anything I have read from a first time author and boy it was worth it. We have Jasper who has only one thing in mind and Blakely is just a girl trying to well have her own life. I loved that these two are like oil and water never mixing yet when they do come together it is explosive. Blakely is one tough woman and man the abuse she goes through is something Jasper never expected yet determined to help her in any way. Rachel Leigh is one talented author for bringing two stubborn and opinionated people like these two together bringing an awesome story to live. Loved it and cannot wait for more of this author.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
The last thing Jasper thought he’d be doing during the middle of his senior year of high school is moving to a new school, his current school’s biggest rival to be exact. One little fight and his dad decided it was time for a change, so they packed their belongings and moved in with his father’s new girlfriend and her son. And enrolled him at the ever wonderful Redwood High.
This is not how this school year was supposed to go, he went from being a starting quarterback to being a back-up quarterback for the enemy. There isn’t anything that could possibly make this situation better… then he meets his new next door neighbor Blakely. She is gorgeous, feisty, and pushes his buttons, but she draws him in like no other girl ever has. She says doesn’t do relationships… but Jasper is determined to convince her otherwise!
Like Gravity is an heart-wrenching tale that will keep your eyes glued to the pages, and your heart in your throat. Every page comes riddled with emotion, drama, tragedy, and angst. These two haven’t had it easy, life has dealt them both a devastating blow, and they are just barely getting by. Their demons are just under the surface, barely contained, and always on their minds. When they meet they think they are polar opposites, but little by little they soon learn that they are more alike than they ever thought, it’s their painful pasts that bond them, as well as their sizzling chemistry. My heart broke for these two, the lives they lead were not typical of a normal teen, they were dealing with adult like matters at a tender age, and sometimes they handled them poorly. But it also taught them a lot about themselves, and matured them in a way that was admirable. I loved what I found between the pages here, it gave my heartstrings a nice little tug, and kept me completely captivated. Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
To be very honest I had a hard time identifying with Blakely. It felt like her character was immature compared to all the hardships she had gone through. And I wanted her to get to that point faster. And to clarify, I do understand that these characters are in high school. I don’t hold it against them when they have tantrums or when Jasper frees his rage. Because these are kids lashing out at life for dealing them a bad hand. Trying to build up walls and have some control with at least the most trivial thing or the people that don’t matter since it’s the most reachable goal.
I did like Jasper’s faith in Blakely. His persistence on being the one there for her. I really liked the hidden persona that he was but very few got to see. Also, I appreciate that even with a broken home, Blakely still values and desires a united family. It gives the reader the sense that these kids are not a lost cause. They are wild and hurt. With more downs that ups but together they can let their guard down, they can care. They fit.
Looking for teenage angst, emotional to the point you feel it in your gut then look no further then Like Gravity. This is a fantastic read. You feel everything that Jasper and Blakely go through. Their so much raw emotions running in this one that you will be sucked in. The anger in Jasper and Blakely you can’t help but ache for them. They have both gone through so much and yet are so similar too. I love the pull between Jasper and Blakely even when there are forces trying to keep them apart. Once you read this you understand why they are the way they are. I couldn’t put this down and I so cannot wait for more Redwood High books to come.
This is the 1st in a new series as well as being the 1st I have read from this author. I was not sure what to expect but I will certainly be looking out for this authors’ work in the future. This is Jasper and Blakely’s story. Blakely gives the impression of being a spoilt little rich girl, however, when her layers are peeled back things are very different. Jasper is a bad boy football player with a huge chip on his shoulder, and who has been forced to switch schools in the middle of the year as he got into some trouble. This is a well written story which is a compelling read, and is intense, raw, gritty, realistic, heartbreaking, emotional, and with secrets, twists, and some tough challenges. I look forward to reading #2, and I recommend for all.
** spoiler alert ** Blakely just wants to survive to escape her parents. Jasper is desperate to learn the truth behind his mother’s accident. Will she open up? Will he get the answers he is looking for?
Have to say this book sucked me right in and held my attention the whole time. I couldn’t help, but feel the emotions of both characters and fall in love with them. I loved how Jasper viewed her and how he was determined to give her someone to depend on and when the truth came out, I couldn’t blame his reaction, but loved how he realized and went back. I didn’t blame Blakely one bit for how she acted after everything she had been put through, but loved to see her slowly letting others in. Great read and cannot wait for the next in this series!
Like Gravity was my first Rachel Leigh book and I was not disappointed. Jasper and Blakely’s story wasn’t at all like I was expecting.
Blakley is the spoiled, rich girl who is used to getting what she wants. But things are not always as they appear. Jasper is the bad boy, football star who had to switch schools in the middle of the school year because he got into some trouble. He has a chip on his shoulder and no one knows why.
Jasper moves in with Blakely’s best friend Knox. Jasper’s dad and Knox’s mom are dating. Blakely and Jasper also get assigned at partners for a class project so they are spending a lot of time together. The attraction between the two jumps off the page right from the start, they even see it too. Neither wants a relationship especially with each other. However, a little fun never hurt anyone. Blakely and Jasper are two broken people who find a sense of calmness with each other. Both have terrible things from their past and keep them from truly being happy. Their story is raw and real, and so very messy.
Like Gravity hits on a lot of real, tough issues that people face. These two didn’t have typical high school problems. They had issues no one should have to face ever, let alone at the time they did. They are both weighed down by so much sadness and hurt.
When their past come rushing to the present, instead of leaning on each other it tears them apart. Jasper handles everything in a way I expected but was also hoping wouldn’t happen. My heart hurt so much for both of them. I wanted to slap Jasper and hug him at the same time. Poor Blakely I just wanted to hold her for everything she had seen, then to have Jasper react the way he did.
I was a little worried about the book when I first started. It took a minute for it to pick up but once it did, it stayed. Leigh hooked me and had me needing more. The plot, and the characters were amazing, and delivered in a way that left me feeling and needing more. I cannot wait to see what Leigh gives us with book two in the Redwood High series.
This was an ok read. I didn’t much care for either Blakely or Jasper. The others had issues but just the way they came across was annoying.
Like Gravity was an enjoyable and captivating read, and it drew me in from the start.
Jasper and Blakely are fantastic characters with magnetic chemistry, they have an intense relationship and were perfect for one another.
There is drama , suspense and just about every emotion you could think of in this book and it certainly had me transfixed and on the edge of my seat.
Its a brilliant story with intriguing, interesting memorable Characters,I really Loved it and highly recommend it.
This author always delivers gripping suspense, fantastic chemistry and well developed characters that are interesting and engaging. The characters are developed and easy to like. The plot was interesting and not one I have come across before. The book is really well written with great main and supporting characters. The book is packed with chemistry, suspense, hot-headed individuals and fantastic surprises! This Author did another fantastic job with this book and I would highly recommend this to all.
