Like Father Like SonI said good-bye to my son. But he had one final request—a letter I’ll never forget.Dear Dad,If you’re reading this, it means I’m gone. I had one dream, growing old with Holland. Death won’t stop me from providing for my wife. And because you’re the best man I know, what I’m about to ask—my last request—I know you’ll do. Please take care of Holland. Take her back to California … back to California with you. It’s a lot—I know. But, I’m placing my most precious possession in your hands.
Love,
Scott
But the thoughts swirling through my mind are certainly not what my late son had in mind. How do I resist this woman in front of me?
After all, you can’t choose love, it chooses you.

Great story about love and tragedy. How families pull together. And how love can blossom.
I wasn’t sure about this story. I mean this is about the father and daughter-in-law. But as I was reading it, there was alot to how they both were dealing with grief and their feelings. I couldn’t put it down. And the ending, now I need to read the next to find what happens. I kind of enjoyed this book.
Leigh Lennon will push you OUT of your comfort zone with this one. Go with it, because it’s a glorious read and I loved both of the main characters so much.
I love a good taboo romance and you cannot get more taboo then the father of your dead husband, in my honest opinion. This is not a spoiler as it is in the blurb. Like Father Like Son by Leigh Lennon is such a romance and though I do have to say I struggle with the first 20%, I devoured the last 80%. Holland was married to the love of her life. She was happy and they had a life-time together to look forward, until they didn’t.
Scott is now gone and his last request was to have his father watch over this wife, because he trusts no one else. But the thoughts Maguire has are definitely not the ones he should be having. Though I did not like Holland at first, she grew on me and the story continued. She was feisty, strong, but also struggling. I absolutely loved Maguire. He was strong, honest and caring to those that mattered to him. He was protective of Holland.
Like Father Like Son by Leigh Lennon was a captivating slow burn taboo romance. Their chemistry is insane and I loved their banter. That ending was unexpected and has my counting down the days to get my hands on the final book!

Happy reading!
OK, I really, really wanted to like this story. I went in with my eyes wide open, I mean, I like taboo reads. But then the one element that was added in this story just made it a no go for me. I mean, I know we are reading fantasies and these story lines are not delicate . The dialogue was also a bit hard for me to follow at times, so it was a combination of things. It was a very good premise though, if you like taboo reads, and I would still encourage others to take a stab at it.
Emotional
When Holland’s husband passes away she is devastated Scott was her world.Maquire is given a letter from his son asking him to take care of his wife.In there travel to go back to California the two begin to feel things for each other.Holland finds out she is
Pregnant and Macquarie becomes more protective and both fight there desires. This is a emotional roller coaster with a cliffhanger
Omg where do I start??? This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride!! What starts out as a tragic beginning, quickly turns into so much more! This story is a little taboo, but OMG it’s done so tastefully! Two souls brought together by tragedy and the heartbreak of losing a son/ husband. Their chemistry and connection is OFF THE CHARTS!!!!!
I don’t want to give away any spoilers, so I’ll only say this, it ends on a cliffy, but it is SO WORTH IT!!!!!
I CAN’T WAIT FOR BOOK 2!!!!
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book! I wasn’t sure about the whole father/son/ daughter-in-law storyline. But toward the end, I was rooting for this couple. And now I can’t wait to read the next one!!
What an incredible love story that was such an original premise for me. I loved the originality of this story line and the way the story developed at such a rate that completely hooked me. My heart strings were pulled on from the initial chapter of this story and just kept going I felt the characters had such well described personalities and I adored, disliked and swooned over the characters with such a depth in my heart.
Ugly cry
I stumbled upon this book! OMG!!! It is an amazing read. Tear jerky, emotional roller coaster and ugly cry to rooting for Maguire and Holland!
I’ve really been looking forward to reading this duet and the first instalment was certainly worth the wait. My head was stuck in this book, I could not put it down until the final page was read. Grief is something we all handle differently and there is no right or wrong way. Sometimes we need space and others we lean on those around us. Leigh delivered a book which was heartbreakingly beautiful. Any book that is able to have me cry, laugh, get angry and feel all of the emotions is a must read. Maguire is faced with the task of fulfilling his son’s final wish, to take his wife back to California and look after her well being. Holland sees Scott every time she looks at her father in law the resemblance is uncanny. They both feel it, but will they take the forbidden leap?
Like Father Like Son is the first book in the Father/Son Duet. The second book will be coming out in August, thankfully, so not a long wait, and believe me if you read this book you will be dying for book 2 right away.
Holland loses her husband in combat, must too early and he was much to young. Scott had joined the military to provide for Holland. He had vowed to protect and provide for her no matter what, neither of them every imagined it would cost him his life.
Maguire was never much of a father to Scott, he was thousands of miles away after a bitter divorce from Scott’s mother. He feels a duty to Scott to provide, protect, and care for Holland.
The connection between Holland and Maguire grows without them even realizing. The romance is a slow burn between them and I thought it would seem odd but it never did. Leigh Lennon created remarkable characters and developed them so well I could not help but root for them.
Wow, wow, wow. This is my first book by this author but it definitely won’t be my last. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this story. I need book 2 asap. I started this book late one night, big big mistake because I never went to bed. I simply had to finish this book and although i dislike cliffhangers this book was definitely worth it. Fantastic read and highly recommended.
This is one crazy and intense book. I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting into when I first read the blurb. I enjoyed the book for the most part. Though I did feel certain parts were brought up too many times without much of an outcome. Also I’m not usually opposed to a cliffy. But this one I just didn’t like. That being said, I did enjoy most of the story. It was different and for that alone, held my interest for the duration of the book. I did find the back and forth between Holland and Maguire repetitive without much forward movement.
Holland has been through such tragedy and her age. Leaving her without the one person she could depend on. With everything taken from her she has to move on.
Maguire is holding true to what he was asked. Caring for Holland. But at what cost?
As I stated this is a cliffy. And typically I’d go back to read a second part of the series and love cliffhanger books. This one might be my exception. It will have to be something super exciting for me to dive back into their world. Because I liked the idea of the book and the characters and originality. I’ll be rating it 3/5. If it were based on story alone 2/5
This book had me hooked! It was an OMG it’s 3 am and I have to get up in three hours kinda hooked because I could not put it down. I absolutely could not wait to see what happened next! Maguire and Holland are thrown into an impossibly sad situation. Combine the sarcastic banter between the two, the taboo love, some unexpected twists and this was the perfect slow burn romance! This is definitely not a duet to miss!
I thought this was a really good read. Very angsty, slow burn. I can’t wait to see how their story continues.
Holland answer the door and life changes instantly. She is fierce and loyal, bright and unique. She is in mourning.
Maguire is his father….was his father. He is serious about taking care of her in his promise to his late son. He is there for her in everything.
It’s so easy to see how the feelings grow. How easy it would be to love again. Finally giving in. Only life has different plans.
I was pleasantly surprised with this story. At the end I thought my heart was gonna beat outta my chest. I love Maguire. He is everything you could dream of in a significant other- even when he isn’t that.
Major cliffhanger. Thankfully the second half is out already – I would’ve been really upset if it wasn’t.
Wow! What a story. I’ve read other books like this one but this one is so different. A slow burn that is a emotional ride for all. Turning the pages quickly to anxious to see what will come of this situation only to find a heartbreaking cliffy. Thank goodness, the conclusion is already loaded and ready to read!
If you love the taboo books of older man/younger woman…this one ticks all the marks. This is a father in-law/daughter in-law book. Both grieving the loss of their loved one.
I was really looking forward to this book. I love the taboo factor. But, this book dragged on. I made sure I finished the book, because I needed to know what happened, but I really didn’t want to. This book is definitely emotional. I cried until the first 5 pages. It ends in cliffhanger and I wish it didn’t.
This book was so good! I literally started and finished it a few hours later because I couldn’t put it down. This book gave me so many feels right from the start for so many reasons that touch close to home. *cue prego hormones* I loved this first part to the story and cannot wait to get book two so I can find out what happens next. Leigh definitely leaves you on the edge of your seat and dying to know what happens next!!!
