“Small towns aren’t for me. It’s a nice change of pace, but I’m going to help out Dale and then get out – back to the city.”Ronan loves his life in the big city – but he needs a break, and when his good friend Dale asks for some help in getting his small-town animal hospital running more efficiently, he sees it as the perfect chance. A little R&R while still feeling like he’s doing meaningful … he’s doing meaningful work – can’t get better than that.
“Who does he think he is, coming in here and ‘showing us how it’s done’? He’s a complete jerk, and I can’t wait for him to leave.”
Oliver’s worked at Sunnydale Animal Hospital for years before it belonged to Sunny and Dale, and the transition to new ownership is leaving him feeling a bit out of place. When Dale asks Ronan to come out to help him with the clinic, Oliver is prepared to hate Ronan on sight – but he’s totally caught off guard when Ronan captures his heart.
Welcome to Sunnydale Vets, where love is the best medicine, and all it takes to fix your problems is the willingness to roll up your sleeves and get to work. This heartwarming book features a city alpha, a small-town omega, and one glorious transformation from enemies to lovers.

Like Cats And Dogs is the second book in The Sunnydale Vets series by Austin Bates. It’s an enemies to lovers type story where the chemistry of the characters is heated as much as it’s fun. I love Ronan and Oliver together and the story is fun, sweet, funny and just a touch of angst.
This second book in the Sunnydale Vets series was a nice followup to Dog Days of Summer. I like Ronan’s sunny disposition, he is genuinely a nice guy that gets along with everyone. It really surprised him to be met with all the hostility from Oliver. Oliver has preconceived notions and is sure that Ronan is going to make his life difficult. He’s also unsure of whether or not he’s appreciated. He even questions if he’s even wanted at the clinic. All that anxiety is directed at Ronan and sparks fly. Once their anger gives way to passion it begins to turn around. I really liked Oliver once he let go of his attitude and saw Ronan for the great guy he was. Ronan struggled with what he wanted. There’s really no choice once he looks into his heart and found that wherever Oliver was is where he’d find home. The ending is superb.
Ronan is a veterinarian but not happy with how things are done in the clinic he work at in New York. His best friend Dale and his partner Sunny own a clinic in Devon, Ohio and offer him a job. He accept it with the stipulation that he will probably will end up back in New York because he loved working there. Oliver has been working at the clinic in Devon since he was a kid when Gerry owned it. Gerry was his mentor and Oliver worked he way up to supervisor. He ‘s upset that Dale hired Ronan without consulting him. There’s tension between Ronan and Oliver and it just keeps escalating. I really enjoyed this book and the characters were interesting.
Dr Ronan Nash, a more spontaneous former best friend from vet school calls up Dr Dale, and lets him know he has just put in notice at the New York City vet hospital they both used to work at.
Dale and his other half Sunny have been building on the success of their animal hospital, and a part of that success is the former manager, now supervisor, of the hospital, Dr Oliver Mercer. Oliver is devoted to the success and well being of the hospital, and does not seem to have much of a life outside of it. He is the organizer, the scheduler, and Dr Spontaneity, who runs around complaining to the rest of the staff, rather than talking to Oliver about the systems that are largely ones Oliver put in place.
Needless to say, Dr big town and Dr small town butts heads. Fairly predictably, they are apparently also very drawn to each other.
Much head butting seems to be ahead for them, unless they can get settled into an agreement of love and affection, and cooperation at work.
But is the work at Sunny Dale Hospital in tiny Devon just a break for Ronan? Is he going back to New York?
If he really plans to come back, he should share wit Oliver – and he really should do that sooner than later.
Life in a small town can be full of a lot of good things, and many surprises, for both of them, if they can put all their cards on the table, and play the hands they are dealt – together, as a team, as a family.
a great steamy m/m romance you can read on KU!
