Wow. What an emotional ride this book was! I cried. A lot. Emma has to deal with an unfairly huge amount of devastating life changes while her fiance, Riley, is away for his music career. The only way she was able to continue putting one step ahead of the other was by leaning on her friends for stability and wisdom when she needed it the most. Oh, the value of great friends that God places in our lives when we need them!
One of the lines in this book that really struck me, and sums up the theme of this book was this: “For even in a broken world, what was intended for darkness couldn’t overshadow grace.” We absolutely need to be reminded of that! When things seem so dark that we can’t see God and think He has forgotten our needs, that is when we need to trust He has a bigger plan working for us.
While the college age storyline isn’t what I normally read, it was great for soul searching and I enjoyed the journey that Emma went on through it. My heart ached for her so many times, but it made me realize that I need to count my blessings every single day. Time is short! I’m excited to read the final book in this series!
“He’s always leading us to good, Em. Even when we have to walk through things we don’t understand. Sometimes, we just need to give Him a little time.”
Wow!
This is a powerful statement for Emma to learn.
In this second book in the “Unveiled Series” by Crystal Walton, the reader is taken on a tense journey from the very first page to the very end of the book. As a reader, I was overwhelmed with emotions for the main character. There were times of sorrow, laughter, tender moments, and deep crashing times. It was like I was coming alongside the main character and walking through all the things she was experiencing. It touched me so deeply at times that at one moment, I couldn’t continue to read, but then I also couldn’t pick it down until I got to the end of the book!
Oh. My. Goodness! I really want to continue with the next book right now, so I can finally see how it all ends. I’ve gotten so connected to Emma and all her friends.
This story is set in a town I’ve lived in, so it’s fun to visualize all the areas she goes to because I’ve been there.
The author, Crystal Walton has truly written a beautiful story dealing with many things we all deal with. The fear of losing someone we love, the fear of rejection, safety, and never being enough. But she also shows the deep love of family, friends, and the passion to make a difference in others’ lives. She wraps this all up together with a sweet story of hope, trust, and faith. She blends these stories so smoothly. This book flows in such a way that you really feel you know these characters and understand what they are struggling with. There were a couple of times I wanted to knock some sense into all of them. Yet, they touched my life with their story.
I highly recommend you pick it up. Now I’m ready to read the next book to continue to see what will happen with these characters.
I was given this book by the author which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Captivating, filled with suspense and intrigue, this is a story that will stick with me. Emma and Riley have a special relationship. The way they both handle life while dealing with the long distance relationship is realistic and very interesting. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
