I could not get enough of Life after Death! I was engrossed in this story that I hardly came out of my reading cave. I needed to know what would happen next to The Childs family. Isaac thinks he and his family are ready to move on from previous tragic events. Before they know it, they are spiriling back in the black hole. After several events, I couldn’t imagine that the the story could end on a good note. You will have to find out for yourself and see if it does.
The story itself is suspenseful and gives an array of emotions. I was fully invested with these characters and would hold my breath a time or two. Another great book Jackson delivers and excited to see what is next!
The second book in The American Family series, Life After Death, works through the after-effects of losing a part of life that will never be the same. It entails overcoming deep struggles from within, while also managing to stay sane amongst the twists and turns that life has to offer. Like in his other works, Baer writes with addictive, enticing passion, allowing the reader to easily get lost in the chaotic lives of the Childs family.
Life After Death is a suburb work of fiction. It captures misery, sadness, lies, mystery, hope, love, honesty, and forgiveness. Further, Baer perfectly paints the continued hardships of the Childs family, and ends Life After Death with room to write a third novel…
Baer provides a fun, interesting, thought provoking experience every time he writes. I’ve also had the privilege of reading some of his other books, The Earth Bleeds Red and The Lights Will Never Fade. Both are full of thrilling mystery, but stand strong with their own alluring plots. These plots entail crime, chilling discoveries, amazing writing, love, hate, and closure. I highly recommend reading everything Jackson Baer has to write about. You won’t be disappointed.
This is the second book in the An American Family. This second book is filled with twists and turns, and dramas. The narration is good. Overall, I enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Life After Death is the second and final installment of Jackson Paul Baer’s An American Family duet series. It should not be read as a standalone novel.
In An American Family, the Childs family is just barely moving forward after a tragic loss of Ramie Childs when she mysteriously is found. Now the family must recover all over again.
Thriller lovers will love the many twists and turns, but after awhile the tragedies felt overdone (or overwhelming) to me. In addition to the thrilling suspense, is the intense family drama. The facades of the perfect family cracked when Ramie went missing, and the messy, raw, flawed family is again flayed open.
The author presents his characters in a way that maximizes sympathy. There are some religious references (i.e., how could God allow this evil) and seeking of answers through religion. My biggest struggle with the writing is the third-person narrative. It didn’t work for me in this duet. Overall, Life After Death was a strong finish for this duet series.
