“Assured, compelling, and hypnotically readable—with a twist at the end I guarantee you won’t see coming” (New York Times bestselling author Lee Child), T. M. Logan’s debut psychological thriller dissects a troubled marriage straight to the marrow as one man separates the truth from the Lies… respected teacher living in a well-to-do London suburb. But that was before he spotted his wife’s car entering a hotel parking garage. Before he saw her in a heated argument with her best friend’s husband. Before Joe confronted the other man in an altercation where he left him for dead, bleeding and unconscious.
Now, Joe’s life is unraveling. His wife has lied to him. Her deception has put their entire family in jeopardy. The man she met at the hotel has vanished. And as the police investigate his disappearance, suspicion falls on Joe.
Unable to trust the woman he loves, Joe finds himself at the mercy of her revelations and deceits, unsure of who or what to believe. All he knows is that her actions have brought someone dangerous into their lives—someone obsessed with her and determined to tear Joe’s world apart.
What if your whole life was based on LIES?

Review This book is one that definitely keeps the pages turning. It is a quick read with chapters that end in cliffhangers. A classic who can you trust suspense, led me down many turns with one I had suspected all along but the ending was a total twisty surprise. Joe Lynch is a wonderful father, to Will his son whom he adores. He had just picked up Will from his preschool and was almost home when Will said look … “Mummy car” and when Joe looked he saw the plate KK59DWD. It was his wife Mel’s car indeed, going into an underground parking lot…. The race is on and it takes so many twists and turns my head was spinning. It was an interesting and scary look into how technology and social media can lead one into places they should not even go. Plenty of action and suspicion will keep you posted to this book as you won’t want to put it down until you finish it. (less)

This murder thriller is full of suspense. Wow, what an emotional read. Everything is not as it seems and this book is full of twists and surprises. We learn a lot about trust and lies. This book will grasp your attention right at the beginning and have you hooked. Well written with complex characters and a captivating storyline. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
I almost gave up on this book because I found the beginning rather slow, but so very glad that I kept on reading. This thriller is quite riveting and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very unexpected end. Joe is a happily married man with a young child. They are out driving when his son William spots his mother’s car. They want to show her a certificate that William has just got, so follow her car. Joe is then devastated when he sees his wife with another man and that is when Joe’s life takes a turn he never saw coming and he finds himself a suspect in a murder. How could all this happen to him so quickly. How can one be so content and then in a matter of days, have your whole world turned upside down. For a first book, this is a great novel and I look forward to reading more from this author.
I absolutely loved this book, stayed up all night. It had non-stop something going on. Right from the beginning and it didn’t let up.
The main character Joe is so lovable. His love for his wife and son, just his whole demeanor. His wife on the other hand is a mess. This book isn’t what you’re thinking, at least it wasn’t no where what I was thinking. You think you know what is going on and nope wrong. Some twists added and the end nope I was wrong again. This book is almost 500 pages but it is non-stop and keeps your attention not to mention interested. One of those books where you have to find out what happens. When you think you know who is “guilty” wrong….
This book flows very easily and I love the writing. I would love to read more by T.M. Logan.
Thank you Net Gallery and St. Martins Press for this awesome read.
When Joe Lynch’s young son spots his mother’s vehicle entering into a parking lot of a hotel he begs his father to turn around and go back to see her, they decided to surprise her…but they wind up being the ones who get surprised. Once they arrive they spot her speaking with a family friend Ben Delaney, and from the looks of things it’s not a pleasant conversation, when they get a little closer to them they begin to hear them having a heated argument, so Joe tries to intervene. Which causes a little scuffle, punches are thrown, and Ben winds up hitting his head and is knocked unconscious, in the mean time Joe’s son starts to have an asthma attack, which causes him to panic and flee the scene to get his son help. When he returns to the scene later to check on Ben and ensure that he is alright, he discovers that Ben and his car are both missing. Shortly there after he starts to receive threatening messages from Ben, Ben wants revenge and he will stop at nothing to get it… the peculiar thing is, Ben’s wife reported him missing a few days before. And now Joe is the number one suspect…
Between the pages of this book you will discover a well written psychological thriller that is riddled with crafty little twists and turns that will toy with your mind, and make you question everything and everyone you meet. I have to say this was quite an impressive debut, once I cracked the cover of it I couldn’t bring myself to put it down, and just when I thought I had things figured out, I’d turn the page and be hit with another blow, and stumped all over again! If you are looking for your next thrilling literary escape, look no further, Lies is certain to give you everything your after, and much more!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
I absolutely loved this book !! How have I not read this author before ?
Lies was a roller coaster of a ride as Joe’s whole life changes the day he follows his wife’s car.
You will look at your cell phone suspiciously after this read.
Lots of things happening as you just want Joe to come out ahead.
Didn’t see that ending coming.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book
The author asks, “What if you whole life is based on Lies?” A chance sighting of his wife’s car sets off a willy-willy adventure of proof of life. The inability to figure out what it is that’s going on may end up with him in jail if he can’t figure it out. This author does an amazing job of twisting and turning things to make them work to prove his guilt. The fun part is figuring out who and why. The characters are all lined up and so is the drama. Promises are made. Threats are kept. Questions are raised. Proof of life is sought. Who do you trust? What do you believe? The lies keep piling up. Guilt is placed. Blame is heavy.
I love this author’s style and after this first taste I have to say I am firmly hooked. Can’t wait to read more. The way this author blended the story with intrigue, lies, misdirection and more just makes all my spidey senses soar and sing with happiness. Loved the story. Loved and hated the characters, even changed my opinion on a few. That’s when you know it’s good.
