Lies We Keep was a gripping romantic suspense novel that had me on the edge of my seat. This is my first time reading a book by Danielle Rose. She has earned a spot on my list of favorite authors. Her ability to captivate readers attention and sustain it is simply astonishing.
The synopsis in itself will grab readers attention. Before reading, I knew this book would be a top read of mine. It exceeded all of my expectations. The plot was fantastic. A writer, Jezebel Tate, has amassed a high level of fame finds herself needing protection from fans and stalkers leads her to hire a bodyguard, James Blakely.
Jezebel was a strong, independent writer who was skillful at her craft. She was praised for her work by her fans, but she didn’t write to be famous. That was the one aspect of her career that she could do without. When she starts receiving some threatening letters, her friend/employee hires a bodyguard.
That is when we get to meet the sexy and mysterious James Blakely. He is ex-military and is the best at protecting his clients. He likes to stick to the plan, get his job done, and call it a day. He finds that this won’t be the case from the first moment he meets Jezebel.
I LOVED the relationship between these two characters. They pushed each other in many ways which created some of my favorite moments in the novel. It forced them to face their feelings, past, and future head-on. I was so impressed with these characters and their character development.
I give Lies We Keep 5 stars. I don’t know how I have never heard of this author, but I am so glad I came across this novel. I am so excited to read book 2 in the series. And I am so excited for other readers to read a jaw-dropping thriller.Lies We Keep (Pieces of Me Book 1) Danielle Rose
Wow! Wow! Wow! This is one novel I could not put down. Danielle Rose is a magnificent writer, who is able to bring everything you would want from this kind of story. Her writing moves you through a cycle of emotions and feelings. The story is tense, humorous and sexy – everything I hoped for when I turned to the first page. The characters are deeply troubled, with pasts that are hard to pry out of them. It’s clear we’ve only scratched the surface of Blakely in this first novel, and I am really looking forward to see what happens next. Pick this one up, you won’t be disappointed!
I have read this book before… this time around has some changes for the better… Loved them..
I have read from this Author… The Charisma that each character has is what makes this book so much more enjoyable and enticing to read.
I loved reading about the anticipation of what happens with the main character Jezebel (very beautiful and talented) … and how she deals with every situation that she runs into…
The secondary character James Blakely.. very hot and seductive… sees Jezebel as somebody to protect and make sure that Jezebel stays safe.. that is his job as a Body Guard…. But there is so much more to him that meets the eye..
All in all I loved this book.
Five gloriously wonderful stars!

Forgiveness, love, happiness and tragedy comes to light in the first installment of the Pieces of Me series, Lies We Keep by USA Today bestselling author Danielle Rose.
We first meet Jezebel Tate, a successful author who seems to be at the top of her career and living a life that some only dream about. But things are never quite as good as it seems. The thing is, that even with her successful career and excellent financial situation, she cannot buy peace of mind or write away her past. No matter how badly she wants to. She can, however, find herself, someone, to protect her from a very obsessed and clearly psychotic stalker.
This is where we meet James Blakely. He is a man with the experience and demeanor of someone who would put his life on the line for another. That is exactly what Jezebel is looking for, plus he is not exactly bad on the eyes and who knows what else he can do with his well-worked body? She is all too eager to find out but is pulled back to reality before she could get distracted enough by the good looking Mr. Blakely.
James has his own past. Nothing he does can make him forget his tragedies but, he still manages to wake up every morning and do his utter best keep both Jezebel’s stalker and his own demons at bay.
Things never run as smoothly as one wishes and they are both eventually put in a situation where they have to face their shadows. Is it too late or can they find the light at the end of the virtual tunnel?
It still amazes me when a few sentences that was developed from someone’s mere train of thought can evoke so much emotion. Yet it happens. Every single time.
With Jezebel and James, it’s no different. You cannot help feeling their pain and loving their good moments.
The story starts off slowly at first but falls into a rhythm that you lose yourself in. Being a fly on the wall with these two has been worth the late nights and extra few cups of coffee.
Living through their eyes and practically feeling the magic concrete city that is Manhattan with streets full of rushing people adds a little extra to the already brilliantly suspenseful, yet very sexy novel.
“Never forget that you’re stronger than you could ever imagine.”
I was drawn in by this cover, and the fact I kept hearing about this all over. This is the first story I’ve read by Danielle Rose, and while the first half of the story wasn’t bad, the second half really drew me in.
Jezebel is a surprising female character- she’s aggressive in getting the man, she’s very forward, and at first doesn’t seem too concerned about this stalker. She is a woman with attitude, that’s for sure! James tries to resist her charms, but not very hard. They both have secret guilts from their past, I think that helps build the bond. The build up between them wasn’t my favorite part though. Halfway through, the action and suspense kick in, and it gets interesting and kind of twisted! Those moments were surprising and pulled me in, making me anxious to find out what happened.
My first read by this author but I’ll definitely put more of her books on my TBR list. Jezebel has a stalker and must hire a bodyguard to help protect her as the threats are getting scarier and scarier. Nothing beats a great bodyguard falling for his charge story and this one is no exception. I loved every single thing about Blakely including his efforts to not fall for Jez’s games…but he’s a man with his own pasts and sorrows and she’s a beautiful woman offering no strings attached fun. Little to they both know…it never works out like you expect it to. I, personally, am not terribly fond of Jezebel and I can’t really put my finger on why that might be but hoping that Pieces of Me book 2 will shed some more light on her so I can “feel” her more. The two of them together are fairly combustible and the story is truly an intense, steamy read.
Could have been more:
The title on this book was a bit misconceiving; it should have been “Lies we tell ourselves”. Both of the main characters blamed themselves for tragedies that had happened to their families and they had closed themselves off and not dealt with the emotional ramifications. We see some evidence of Jezebel working towards this in the epilogue but the majority of the book dealt with the lust and physical attraction between her and her bodyguard. Jezebel was an apt name for her and I wished we could have seen more of a mature relationship develop between these two and not just the hints from the epilogue. I thought the ending was overly dramatic and not fully explained. Perhaps we are supposed to wait for book two? Also Jezebel’s physical ailments didn’t seem realistic and were overkill for me.
This book was short and only part one. It would have been been more enjoyable had it been fleshed out a bit and combined with the second installment to make a solitary novel. It was told from a single point of view and I missed having James’s perspective, which we only got a glimpse of in the epilogue. It ends on a happy-for-now and I don’t think I shall be bothering with book two.

This was a first read for me by Danielle and I just thought this was just ok. I think the female character Jezebel irked me for majority of this story. Her alpha female characterization just didn’t fit right. I liked James though. I just didn’t like how quickly things progressed. The ending was a bit of a doozy. I don’t think I’ll be continuing with the next book.

From the very start this book had me hooked! Lies We Keep is a great read and a real page turner. I recommend completely!
Danielle’s books are intriguing. Here stories draw you in and make you want more. The characters Jezebel and James have a great story that starts off slow then blossoms, making you root fir them more and more. What starts out as a job for James, morphes into a love story for the both of them… and it’s never easy for either of them.
This was my first book from Danielle Rose and I can’t wait to read Truth We Bear! Fast paced and attention grabbing! Stayed up late to finish reading it!!
I loved this book! I loved the characters, and the sexy scenes were panty melting!!! But there could have been more about the stalker I was stumped about who it was since there’s not a lot of people Jezebel is around… so it could have been a great mystery with some romance! Was a fantastic read. Oh and too many uses of dragging my teeth across my lower lip or whatever.
Love this book!!!!
This is a must read for sure. I highly recommended this book. It’s such a great story.
Jezebel is an author and she has a stalker problem. She hire James as security. The attraction between them is electric from the start. James has a past and mistakes that he can’t get over. Jezebel is thrown into the dark again because of her stalker. I feel like she didn’t really take the stalker situation as serious as she needed to do. All in all this was a good read.

This was my first book by Danielle Rose and it won’t be my last!!
This was a quick and fast-paced read, it kept me engaged and wanting more when the book was over! Jezebel is the lead female character, she is very well-written and personally my favorite character in the book. If your like me and like a strong female character then you will love her! I can’t wait to read the next book!!
Wow wow wow. This was a great book. I couldn’t put it down.
For a quick read, Jezebel and James’ story had all the elements for a wonderful story.
I absolutely loved Jezebel. She was bold and confident and went after what she wanted. And in her story she wanted James. What started out as an itch to scratch with her new sexy bodyguard turned into something much more. This alpha female found an alpha male to curl her toes and win her heart.
It was sexy, suspenseful and through it all Jez remained true to herself and no matter her circumstance she never became a damsel in distress. She was a force with those pages and a heroine I really enjoyed getting to know.
Very entertaining, sexy, action packed adventure filled with danger, mystery, intriguing charters and thrilling passion….. this is a exciting read from beginning to end. A very quick yet very enjoyable reading experience.
I love a sexy bodyguard. Something feels forbidden about it. I stayed up all night reading! I loved it! Beautifully written and love the style. 5 stars easy!
