As the owner of Licked, an eclectic ice creamery and bar, Ryleigh Phillips doesn’t have time for that love stuff. Serving up Nibble My Nuts sundaes and Drunken Sailor boozy shakes are as close to an orgasmic affair as she’s had in months thanks to her expanding empire—until the night of her ten-year high school reunion. When Ryleigh’s crush, gorgeous ex-football god Cameron Mathis, comes streaking … comes streaking into her life (literally—streaking), she begins to wonder if she really can have it all.
Wouldn’t it just figure that the moment you think life is perfect is when it falls spectacularly apart?
Enter Hunter Morgan, the contractor in charge of Licked’s renovations. Devastatingly handsome, and a smartass to boot, he’s got his eyes on Ryleigh from the moment he finds her passed out on his couch (yeah, that’s a long story). There’s just one tiny complication—he happens to be Cameron’s best friend.
When the lines between relationships and friendships blur, and it’s impossible to choose between two delicious flavors, what’s a girl to do? Taste a sample of each? Or go out and get LICKED?
Each book in the L.A. Liaisons series can be read as a standalone novel.

Why oh why haven’t I read a Brooke Blaine novel before. Licked was deliciously funny and sexy. Brooke Blaine you are a genius! Nothing less. I seriously devoured this book. Every single thing worked for me. The story felt fresh and original. The characters were so damn entertaining and interesting. Their friendship was spot on. The ladies, Ryleigh and her hilarious friends Shayne, Paige and Quinn were amazing. So much love poured into and from their friendship. I could relate to them. The writing was nothing more than sublime. I was laughing my ass off through out the book, because so many thoughts Ryleigh had I would definitely have too. The dialogue felt real and authentic. I simply loved it!
Ryleigh was such a funny, spunky and down to earth woman. God, I loved her. I loved how comfortable she was with herself. She owned her style and stayed true to herself. Her love for her girl friends were fantastic. THEY were fantastic! Her inner dialogue with herself was perfect.
Her growing friendship/relationship with Hunter was written to perfection. I loved that it didn’t felt forced and how they slowly got to know one another. Their attraction and chemistry was smoking hot and so sexy. I couldn’t get enough of Ryleigh and Hunter.
What’s left to say except I have a huge craving for ice cream And booze! Brooke Blaine, I love your mind and your writing. Licked was perfection. These ladies now have a place in my heart.

It was realistic in some ways, but laugh out loud at how the girls all get along and stick up for each other. Loved the steamy parts!!
Fun, fast-paced story that has you chuckling at the dialog and of course the ice cream concoctions that are on the menu at Licked!
I have read all of Brooke’s novels and Licked is completely different from the others. They did have some humor but this was down right hilarious! I haven’t laughed so much in a book in a very long time, if ever.
Ryleigh owns a successful ice creamery and bar that is stylish and fun. She might have found success in her business but not in the love department. That will all change when she goes to her ten year class reunion and literally runs into her high school crush and the man in her fantasies ever since she was 15, Cameron Mathis. Her dream spending the night with him has come true but not in the way she imagined. What she didn’t expect was to meet his sexy best friend and roommate Hunter the next morning while she looked like a hot mess…
She should not be thinking about Hunter. She wants Cameron, he is the perfect gentlemen with sexy blue eyes and she has always dreamed of been his his arms and much more. The problem? Hunter. He is the complete opposite of Cameron, he is cocky, works with his hands and she doesn’t know anything about him except he melts her panties with one look. And now, that he is working for her expanding her business she can’t help the attraction but is he what she wants? Will Ryleigh tear Cameron and Hunter’s friendship apart?
I love, love, love this book! Ryleigh is a rock star, she is independent, sassy, funny and don’t even get me started on her wardrobe. Amazing! Her friends are the best blend of sexy, sassy and supportive. And the men…Cameron and Hunter, anyone would be lucky to have to pick between these two. Of course I had my favorite but moving on…
Overall…Licked is deliciously sexy, sweet, funny and smart. The sexual innuendo was on point and it had the very best names for ice cream sundaes. Ever. And Brooke’s writing style was flawless, I felt like I was in the book! Now…I want ice cream.
I can’t wait to see what is next for these amazing groups of friends and lovers
Licked was a very funny read! It was also surprising a few times as well. I didn’t exactly know what to expect from the blurb so it kept me interested in what was going to happen. I enjoyed both Hunter and Ryleigh, they are entertaining and interesting people. They have a strong connection off the bat and it just grows throughout the book. I felt like I could have learned a little more about both of their pasts to know them better. I also thought the end happened quickly and things could have been wrapped up more. The rest of Ryleigh’s friend group is also quite entertaining and I’m interested in finding out more about them.
*5 Stars*
I met Brooke and bought this and the rest of the series from her at SAE 2018, and I don’t know why its taken me more than a year to get around to reading it. Particularly given that this has been on my TBR for ages because it caught my eye due to the awesome cover and great review on Goodreads.
I sped this through in less than 24 hours, and I enjoyed every second of it. These characters are full of so much sass, and were really fun to get to know. I love that the main character Ryleigh is a confident and self made business woman, and that whilst she has different tastes from the “norm” she has embraced them and even become successful because of them.
Whilst this sounds like a love triangle from the blurb, its a lot more fun that you would think, and all the characters were really great. I loved Hunter and his personality, and I would like to see Cameron in future books as well. Ryleigh’s best friends are great too, and I definitely look forward to reading more about them.
This was a fairly smooth read, with no real angst, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. The ending was maybe a little too fastly resolved for my liking, but it also worked for the characters, so that’s just personal taste really.
There are so many fun things in this book, including all the quirky names Ryleigh has given her products in the ice-creamery, so I highly recommend that you dive right in and “Get Licked” too!
A really sweet, quirky love story. Ryleigh has always had her own style, like she is living in the ’50s. She also has an adult themed ice cream parlor, including some concoctions including alcohol.
I like Ryleigh and her friends, they were such a tight knit group and each one was a character worthy of her own book. I can’t even begin to say how wonderful I thought Hunter was, you really have to read the book to follow this amazing man.
Three hours.
That’s how long it took me to finish this book and all in one sitting.
I laughed (both the giggle type and snicker/snort type)
I swooned a bit.
And I even sniffled a time or two.
Licked was a fun, sweet and sexy romp with a great cast of characters that will definitely having you coming back for more and wanting to #GetLicked
First off, I adored Ryleigh. I loved her spunky nature, quick and creative mind and the fact that she was so comfortable in her own skin. She loves the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s and rocks the whole vintage look daily and without apology and has since she was a young girl. It wasn’t easy for her to be “different” but despite it all she came out of it stronger for it. The reason why she opened an ice cream parlor was sweet and I really liked that she was a confident business woman, she had vision but knew her limitations. Then there are Cameron and Hunter. It’s really hard to not like both of these guys because they are such good guys. They are both sweet, have good hearts, are hard working and appreciate the life that they have. And they both have that ‘It’ factor about them without having to work for it.
As the description of the book states there is a bit of a love triangle situation in play and without giving away anything, no spoilers, I really liked how it all played out. From the way Ryleigh and Cameron come face to face for the first time in ten years to how she meets Hunter and then to picking just one of them and how it all plays out in the end was done really well. And I will admit that the one she does end up with is the perfect match for her and I hope the one she didn’t choose gets a book soon because he really deserves his own HEA.
This was my first book by Brooke Blaine and I obviously enjoyed it immensely from the concept for the ice cream parlor and the names of the different combinations (those were brilliant!) to how well written each character was. I want to know more about Paige, Quinn and Shayne and see if they get their own HEA’s. The humor was right up my alley, the smexy parts were done very well and there just the right amount of drama to keep things interesting.
The Bottom Line: This really was a quick and fun read and I am totally looking forward to the next book!
