License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen
Stars-4
This is the first book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series, and it was a great way to start off! This story is a combination of a bit sweet and sassy with tons of humor. Each character was well developed. The interaction and chemistry between Jane and Ethan is great, and I loved reading about them! This was an excellent quick, fun read, and I am looking forward to the rest of this series.
This author has a way of always delivers great characters that are well developed and engaging with plenty of chemistry that draw us from the start. The even flow of the storyline kept me entertained.

License to bite was a fun romp of a vampire story. The story of Jane and Ethan’s journey to finding each other was full of laughs and fun. A vampire who faints at the site of blood is hilarious. Carrie Pulkinen has created a funny and joyful story that captures the attention of the reader. The story is good and I will be reading more from Carrie Pulkinen.
This book was much better than I had first thought when picking it up. It was not only well written, but witty, steamy, interesting, and romantic. I found that the introduction of a license to bite humans was actually very interesting and the first time I had ever seen it in a book or film, it was actually well written and plotted. The relationships between the characters were fantastic, especially between Jane and Ethan and Jane and the Magistrate, it definitely brought out much of their personalities and made the book much more well rounded and enjoyable. I am extremely excited to read the next one and have already pre-ordered it, I am so excited. I can’t recommend this enough!
License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy is the first book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. I absolutely loved this story because, just as the title promises, it was full of romance and comedy. I knew this book was going to be a good one after reading “…laughter of dozens of inebriated partiers grated in his ears like sand between his butt cheeks.” within a few pages. The relationship between Jane, a governor’s daughter partying it up in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, and Ethan, one of New Orleans hottest vampires, is hilarious. Ethan turns her and, little does he know, she faints at the sight of blood, how ironic?! Ethan must struggle to teach her how to be a vampire in just 3 weeks or she faces being staked thanks to a new law. Though Ethan thought Jane could be his late fiance reincarnated, he quickly learns that it’s the complete opposite. I just loved this story and how the author could turn a rather dark topic, such as vampires, and put a whimsical and humorous twist to it.

A fast and steamy paranormal romantic comedy aimed at 18+, this is a fun and enjoyable read, joining, “the supes of New Orleans Nocturnes as they lighten up the darker side of the Big Easy”.
Sassy Governor’s daughter Jane Anderson is a bit spoilt and used to getting what she wants, however a girls trip to Mardi Gras literally changes her life. When Jane meets New Orleans hottest vampire Ethan Devereaux she is attracted to him and Ethan believing Jane is the reincarnation of his late fiancé ‘turns’ her and claims her. However when Jane wakes up dead in Ethan’s attic, the loud, ornery and obnoxious girl is far from his late beloved. Realising his mistake he none the less is stuck with teaching Jane all she needs to know to be a vampire and get her licence or she will be staked. Feeling responsible for Jane his biggest problem is getting Jane to overcome her phobia of blood! This is a lighthearted story with some real laugh out loud moments. It features great characters and I happily immersed myself in the storyline and enjoyed the book.
I’ve been waiting for this book to come out, I won’t lie. Everything I’ve ever read from Carrie I’ve loved, so when she said she had a new paranormal rom-com coming out, I was on board before even knowing the title or premise. To be fair, this has bitted me in the behind with other authors, but Carrie did NOT disappoint!
This book is witty, funny, sweet, and cute all rolled into one.
Ethan has spent the last 25 years beating himself up. Jane has spent her whole life as the baby black sheep of a highly successful political family. He’s broody and an isolationist. She’s spoiled and the lift of the party. Great combination, right? Not so much, no.
Believing she may be his love reincarnated, Ethan saves Jane after a terrible accident, and the sparks start (literally) flying from the moment she wakes up dead. Oh, and did we mention she passes out at the sight of blood? Perfect for a vampire!
You’ll laugh, you’ll roll your eyes at each of them, and Gaston… and Sophie. I only wish Sophie had been able to follow-through on the threat she made in reference to Watson (No, I’m not telling. Read it to find out!).
As the first in a new series from Carrie, this is a GREAT introduction! You’ll fall in love with these realistic characters just like I did, and then you’ll be salivating waiting for Shift Happens – Sophie’s book and second in the series.
Do yourself a favor and pick up this book today!
License To Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy by Carrie Pulkinen is the first book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series. This is a fun and highly entertaining book and a great new way of telling a vampire story.
What a brilliant way to start a new series! Carrie Pulkinen has definitely set the bag high for this series. This book was so entertaining and absolutely hilarious. I loved how feisty and loud Jane turns out to be, and how completely surprised Ethan is by this.
What ensues between them is just out and out good story telling. The author weaves her words in such a way that it creates a unique and interesting book. If this is only the first in the series then I cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us.
This is a great paranormal romance.
Ethan has been a vampire for 25 years after the loss of his love and an accident would have killed him without him being turned into a vampire.
Ethan has been spending time with his sire until he meets Jane. Jane seems to be everything his past love was in the way she looks and he thinks she maybe his past love reincarnated.
When Jane has a accident which would take her life Ethan steps in to save her and turns her into a vampire. Finally he thinks he has his love back but how wrong he was.
Jane is loud, outspoken and thinks she is an entitled princess. Jane and Ethan argue and bicker all the time but when they go to register Jane they realise they have 3 weeks to get Jane ready to pass and get her license.
Can they work together to get this done or will both their undead lives be at risk from the stake.
This is a nice easy read. A very good read about vampires this book is funny has you laughing so hard. Ethan and Gavin are both vampires who are very different to each other but friends never less. Jane is not meant for the life of a vampire she faints at the sight of blood. Wait what she could get killed if she doesn’t get her license to kill. Jane is so comical she makes you laugh.
License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen is a quick fun read based in one of my favourite cities. Jane Anderson is enjoying a girl’s trip in New Orleans for Mardi Gras when her path crosses Ethan, a broody vampire who lives in the city and has never really gotten over his late fiancé. A quick case of mistaken identity later and Jane is a vampire. She loves all the perks but has a terrible phobia of blood which puts her ability to get her biting license in jeopardy.
License to Bite is a really enjoyable read, the way that Pulkinen describes the city was really good and I could picture the madness of Mardi Gras perfectly. The characters were likable, although I was getting as frustrated as Ethan with Jane’s attitude at times but that all added to the character development. I would recommend this book if you like a paranormal romance without the angst, looking forward to the next instalment in the series
License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen a five-star read that will bite back. This is the first story in the New Orleans Nocturnes series and what a start, I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the rest of the series. This was so funny, do not drink and read as you will be spitting water out everywhere. It has just the right amount of sass and humour, this turns your typical supernatural romance on its head and rights it all again. Jane is great, I really didn’t think I would like her at first, but I really warmed to her as well as some of the other secondary characters. The banter and back and forth really kept you guessing, this series show such great promise and I can’t wait for number two.
This is the first book in this author’s new series, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I have read other books by this author but this one is my favorite. Jane and her friends went on a girl’s trip that turned out differently than what she expected. She meets Ethan who is a vampire that thinks she is his former love and he turns her. But now she is faced with figuring out how to be a vampire to get her license before it turns deadly for her. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I enjoyed these characters. They made the story feel realistic and I had no problem connecting with them. The chemistry between Jane and Ethan was great. What will happen between Jane and Ethan?

5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the story License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen. It is a book that pulled me in as well as made me laugh. I loved reading about the characters of Jane Anderson and Ethan Devereaux. Jane is used to getting what she wants. She is sassy, ornery, independent, and opinionated. On a trip to New Orleans, she finds herself in the arms of Ethan. Ethan is a vampire, he has a strong reaction when he meets Jane, something that has not happened in a very long time. Thinking she is his late fiancée reincarnated he clams and turns her into a vampire. She can’t stand the sight of blood. He finds her to be loud and noisy. There is also something between them that they can’t deny. Jane has to learn to be a vampire and get her license or she can be staked. Will Jane get her license? What will they do about the emotions and feelings that they have for each other? What does the future hold for Jane and Ethan? Read this book to find out. I enjoyed the banter back and forth between Jane and Ethan. There are times when I would laugh out loud at the dialogue. I also enjoyed reading about the other characters that are introduced, especially Jane’s bestie. I love that the story is set in New Orleans. Don’t miss out on a vampire story that you won’t want to put down until the final page. This book has romance and will pull you into the supernatural world. I would highly recommend reading it.

License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen
If you want to be entertained, you’ll definitely want to check out this fun romantic comedy that takes place in New Orleans and introduces readers to the world of what I would expect today’s millennial vampire to be like. This book was amusing and a little steamy. It was a quick read and I read it straight through in one evening. The characters were realistic and seemed like people I’d totally have a drink with. It was a modern tale instead of a dark underbelly type tale. Nothing too serious and no big stress involved in enjoying this book, just entertaining. Definitely recommend it!
I have loved all of Pulkinen’s books thus far and couldn’t wait to see what this newest work would be. I found myself laughing the whole way, loving the characters and another turn in the Big Easy. It was sassy, tons of fun, and will appeal to anyone that loves a romantic comedy with a paranormal twist. Loved every page!
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen is the hilariously sweet and sexy opener for her new series New Orleans Nocturnes. I loved this read! I could just see Ethan’s face as he realized what he had done by saving Jane. And have you ever wanted someone to shut up and they just won’t! I laughed so hard I swear I almost peed myself. And Gaston is just a hoot! Here is a cast of strong characters that have so much personality that they jump off the page. A fun and sexy read (Mature Readers Only) that will have you wanting to run off to Mardi Gras. I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble Sophie finds for herself!
