The lies will come back to bite you every time…Never borrow pants from your brother. Especially if he’s a size smaller than you are, because all that pressure in the junk will short-circuit your brain. And you’ll lie to a woman in a club about your real name.Leave her unsatisfied after making out in a bathroom. Then find out that she’s the one thing standing in the way of your dreams. And she … standing in the way of your dreams. And she very much doesn’t like being lied to.
Now I have to convince Lila Valentine—the woman I can’t stop thinking about, my biggest regret, and my new boss—that I’m what’s best for the baseball team she’s inherited.
If we can’t work together to save the Fireballs, the commissioner’s forcing a sale and moving them across the country.
I’ll do anything to save my home team.
But the one thing I can’t do?
Keep my hands to myself.
Which would be fine, if she hadn’t been telling me lies this whole time too.
Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire is a rocking fun romance between a single dad obsessed with baseball, an heiress with secrets, baseball pants, a rundown team, and rabid ducks. It stands alone and comes with a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

Lila and Tripp both have many issues to work through but together they make it work. His kids are sweet and so funny and their love of animals is a hoot! Pippa has seamlessly included many of her characters from previous books into this story and they add to the richness. plus, ducks!!
When reading a Pippa Grant book I expect to laugh out loud, giggle, and even snort. I didn’t anticipate the feelings Tripp and Lila would evoke as I read. These two were so deserving of an HEA and I am glad to have experienced it.
Tripp is a member of the boy band Bro Code and he wants to buy his hometown’s baseball team. Lila just inherited said team and now the two, each grappling for a new life, must battle it out for ownership. The hilarity ensues with mascot mayhem, email squabbles, and family fun. Tripp’s children are so entertaining and some of the best side characters. Tripp’s love for his family and Lila jumps off the pages and had me routing for him to find his new normal. I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter in the pippaverse and look forward to more of those Bro Code boys.
This book is hilarious laugh out loud comedy at it’s finest. Tripp is a widowed father of 2 and looking for something to do with his life beyond the Dad thing in order to get some sanity back into his life. Lila is a mystery wrapped up in a baseball team owning skirt. This book will give you more Bro Code, more quirky animals, and most amazing banter back and forth between Tripp and Lila. I love that both Lila and Tripp were adults about everything, there wasn’t a lot of whining you typically get in books. The kids were so brilliantly written in this book, I couldn’t help but picture to a T everything that they were doing. You’ll get a ton of visits from previous characters and a ton of laughs. This might just be my favorite Pippa book to date
I received an ARC in return for my honest review
Ah, Lila and Tripp! I absolutely enjoyed their story. It’s an emotional story but, since it’s Pippa Grant, it has a lot of laugh out loud hilarity too. Both Tripp and Lila are trying to find their new normal and this is a great story about a baseball team, a former boy band member and two adult battling it out to over a baseball team (lots of fun packed in!) (Also: Mascot! )
Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire (Bro Code #3) by Pippa Grant is a contemporary, single parent, enemies to lovers, sports, workplace romantic comedy told in first person, dual POV. Although it’s the third book in the Bro Code series, it can be read as a standalone.
Tripp Wilson, widower, single father, germaphobe, and former boy band member, hopes to buy the local Major League Baseball team, the Copper Valley Fireballs. He’s always been a big fan of the team and dreams of making them successful again to benefit his community and make lifelong memories with his kids.
When her uncle dies, Lila Valentine inherits her family’s failing baseball team, the Fireballs. Several buyers are interested in purchasing the team, but she’s reluctant to sell because it’s the last link she has to her mother who mysteriously disappeared when she was a child.
Tripp and Lila’s first meeting is at a club, and it precedes their baseball connection. There are drinks, a little bit of deception, some mistaken identity, and lots of sparks flying. When they meet again under the context of baseball team owner and potential buyer, it doesn’t go well at all. Lila is angry that Tripp misrepresented himself, and he’s upset that she refuses to sell. When they’re forced into a working relationship, it’s an explosive situation full of fireworks as they both prank each other and try to get under each other’s skin.
I loved Tripp and Lila’s story! I loved them both as characters and my heart went out to them over the pain and loss that each had experienced. Ultimately, it’s a story about love, family, and overcoming fear. Sexy, sweet, heartwarming, and full of hilarious hijinks. I highly recommend it!
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
Another homerun from Pippa. Gah I’m so excited Lila finally got a book and Tripp was just pure single dad perfection for her. The push and pull between these are what enemies-to-lovers/slow burn books are made of.
Secrets, Sass, and Sports with extra innings of crazy mascots and ducks you can’t go wrong in the Pippaverse.
Every time I have a Pippa Grant book to read, I have to figure out a way to read it slowly. They are so funny and so good, you want to make it last as long as you can!
This book centers on Tripp, a widowed dad with 2 kids, and Lila, a successful business woman who just inherited a baseball team from her uncle. They have a chance meeting that goes sideways, then meet up again when Tripp and his Bro Code bandmates try to convince Lila and the baseball commissioner to let them buy the Fireballs.
Both of these character have experienced traumatic loss, and it has made them both lonely and cautious about who they let in and how. A constant theme in the book is how much they want to deserve the other person, to be worthy of breaking down their walls. You will love this book, and Tripp’s kids!
