The lies will come back to bite you every time…Never borrow pants from your brother. Especially if he’s a size smaller than you are, because all that pressure in the junk will short-circuit your brain. And you’ll lie to a woman in a club about your real name.Leave her unsatisfied after making out in a bathroom. Then find out that she’s the one thing standing in the way of your dreams. And she … standing in the way of your dreams. And she very much doesn’t like being lied to.
Now I have to convince Lila Valentine—the woman I can’t stop thinking about, my biggest regret, and my new boss—that I’m what’s best for the baseball team she’s inherited.
If we can’t work together to save the Fireballs, the commissioner’s forcing a sale and moving them across the country.
I’ll do anything to save my home team.
But the one thing I can’t do?
Keep my hands to myself.
Which would be fine, if she hadn’t been telling me lies this whole time too.
Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire is a rocking fun romance between a single dad obsessed with baseball, an heiress with secrets, baseball pants, a rundown team, and rabid ducks. It stands alone and comes with a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

What a Tripp!! I giggled, chuckled, and busted up laughing. Liar, Liar, Hearts On Fire was the third book in Pippa’s Bro Code Series and so far my favorite!!
Single dad, Tripp, was trying his best to raise his two kids while keeping them out of harms way, mainly germs. On a rare night out, he met the most beautiful girl but it was under false pretenses. He figured he would never see her again until he came face to face with his new boss.
Lila can’t stand being lied to; but there was something between her and Tripp that she couldn’t deny. Would their constant pranking and bickering blow up in their faces or ignite into fiery passion?
What an amazing single dad, enemies to lovers, laugh out loud, swoonfest! Tripp was such a kind and sweet person, the love for his kids and family… Lila was the perfect match for him in every way!!
This book has it all: great writing, quirky humor, steam, and good dialogue. It quickly grabbed my attention and kept me reading to the end. The cameos from previous Bro Code books definitely added to the story; it was like a reunion with old friends.
Tripp is a great dad, albeit a tad overprotective, which is totally understandable after his wife’s death. He’s also an all-around good guy, and I liked him almost immediately, despite his germaphobe tendencies. He definitely needed to loosen up and have some fun!
Lila is smart, determined, and hardworking. She’s a bit closed off in my opinion, but once I got to know her I liked her. I enjoyed the slow burn and chemistry between the two.
This is the third book in the Bro Code series. It can easily be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the series in order to really get the full experience of the Pippaverse.
I LOVE PIPPA GRANT!! She is one of my go-to authors for sure! The Bro-Code Series if one of my favorite of hers! I am not usually a huge fan of slow-burn stories, but this one is amazing! Tripp and Lila’s story is a laugh-out-loud, sweet romantic comedy! I love every word of this story and I cannot wait for more! FIVE STARS!!
Bro Code #3 is here, and Pippa didn’t disappoint. Tripp has been through quite a tough few years after losing his wife and now trudging along, lovingly raising his kids but struggling a bit and wants to be around people he loves the most, his family and friends. This community in Copper Valley, with his family, Bro Code boys and friends just what he needs for him and his kids. But he’s back, and he wants in on the ownership of the baseball team. His goal is to make this a successful. But, Lila Valentine has inherited the team, and they’ve already had an uneventful first meeting.
I loved Tripp’s story. We are used to seeing Pippa’s characters more quirky, not as emotional background, but Tripp will pull on your heartstrings pretty hard, the NYC scene, Oh goodness, the emotions in his voice. You just want the everything but the best for him and more! These two bump heads together at first, but once they spend more time together, they are seeing each other more clearly. Lila is used to the big city, not much friends or family, but she’s experiencing Copper Valley with everyone that plays a role in Tripp’s life, deep down, its an unfamiliar feeling that she suddenly is aching for.
It was so great to see characters from the other books make their way into Lila and Tripp’s story. Knox and Parker are just so fantastic. Cooper Rock, the kiddos, Beck Ryder, the ducks, all of them. I love seeing the uniqueness of Pippa’s stories and her world. Always fun to see what these characters all end up getting into. I love love love Tripp Wilson!
Tripp and Lila were fabulous! Tripp is a widower with two kids and is a former member of Bro Code. He has his quirks and is a tad overprotective (for good reason) – he has a huge group of family and friends that are a major part of his life. Lila on the other hand has no family left, very few friends, and doesn’t really understand the life Tripp has though she longs to be part of a group that way. These two have a rough start and have a few secrets between them – can they overcome it? Will all be fair in love and baseball?
Laughs from the first page and a story that’s full of heart. It’s always fun to read about the characters from this world and find out what crazy things will happen to them next. I’m ready for the next one!
Lila’s and Trip are thrown together to save the baseball team that Lila’s uncle left her. There is instant attraction and lots of arguing. Both of them have issues especially horny ducks. Trip and Lila grow closer together and with his family especially James and Emma his children. But will their issues keep them apart ? Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended. This book was awesome.
Another fantastic book in the Bro Code series! I fell in love with Tripp, just as Lila did! Swoony single dad who needed someone to take care of him as much as he cared for others. Lila found the one her heart could trust. But it wasn’t easy for either of them and their road was full of fun and laughter, anger and angst, sexy scenes, and family!!
Great read!!
Former boy band members, baseball pants, and some hidden secrets…what more could a girl ask for?! From start to finish I feel in love with Tripp and Lila. Plus the ducks. I really loved the ducks! If you’re looking for a fun read that will make your heart smile, this is the book for you!
Excellent from the first page to the last
I loved this story of Pippa Grant, which has a touch of humor, but above all which is more moving and even if at the beginning, the story seems predictable because of the title, the story becomes even more fascinating when it becomes completely unpredictable due to the characters.
Tripp, a widowed single father, spends a few days with his brother (a rock star) in New York without his children. He hasn’t set foot in a night club for 5 years, but to be able to buy a falling baseball team, he decides to pretend to be his celebrity brother who looks like him. However, this lie which should have allowed him to access the VIP area quickly turns into embroglio when he lies to Lila who ended up with a drink on her head. They begin to seduce each other before something unexpected happens.
A few weeks later, Tripp discovers that Lila is now the new owner of the team and he must manage to get her to leave. However, all means are good for the two heroes to get rid of the other, until Lila’s past has a significant impact on her behavior.
This is the kind of story where, when you have finished reading it and have understood what really played out, you want to read it again to find the clues that would have made it possible to understand faster everyone’s role or why certain events happened.
What a perfect book at this time in all of our lives. Need to get lost for a while from all the madness well Pippa Grant’s RomCom Liar, Lair Hearts on Fire will do that for you and more. I always know to expect a fun filled romance when I open up my kindle to read one of Pippa Grant’s books and this one was that and more. As I started reading Tripp Wilson’s story it hit me how in tune it its to what is going on in today’s world. Tripp was one of the members of Bro Code I met in the very first Pippa Grant book and he has come home with his 2 children after the death of his wife. Being a widower is never easy but Tripp take things to the extreme and let’s say it fits right in with today’s going on right perfectly. Which is weird as this book was written by the author months ago. Lila Valentine is the new owner of of our favorite baseball team and Bro Code want to buy the team. Let;s just say these two are so good when they working together and man are they one hot couple. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series! I reviewed this book as a huge thank you to the author for keeping my mind off of all the stuff going on and let you all know what a great ROM COM this is.
A slow burn enemies to lovers story with a hea, guaranteed to make you laugh, snivel, snort, squeal, shout and swoon. Not that you’d expect anything less from Pippa.
Lila wants to preserve the memories of her Mom through her Uncles team.
Tripp wants to save the team him and his family have grown up with. They both come to realise they work really well together, but some hidden secrets could prevent this from happening.
Tripp’s kids are two of the most amusing little people I’ve had the pleasure to read. This story truly is a “Fiya starter” with a slow burn
When I binged all of PG’s books last year, I wish I had had the foresight to make a map of how all the characters intersect. I love when characters and series overlap and this one had quite a few of my faves.
This book was a wonderful balance of funny and angst. Since there’s some heavy topics in this book, it’s definitely more angsty than what I expect from a PG novel.
I’m a huge Bro Code fan and I think Tripp has taken my number one Bro Code spot!!
Pippa Grant is one of my favorite writers, I can always get lost in one of her books and this one was no different. Lila Valentine is a smart woman who has inherited a baseball team, a baseball team Tripp wants. Lila is a loner that doesn’t have any family and has very few friends. She was taught at a young age never get to close to anyone. Lila has a lot of secrets. Tripp is a former Boy Code band member, he was known as the keeper of the group. Tripp is also raising two children and is a total germ freak, after losing his wife to the flu. When these two meet they are instantly attracted to one another. But something happens and they go there separate ways, only to meet up again when, Tripp is trying to buy the Fireballs, little did he know that the girl he made out in the bathroom with is said owner. These two don’t know whether to throttle each other or make out. Will Lila be able to get over the lie Tripp told her to see the real man. Will Tripp be able to open his heart again.
This author is the kind that you can reliably turn to when you need a lift in your mood, or are looking for some reading time to escape in to a world that makes your heart melt a little and puts a smile on your face. I have read every single one of her books because of searching for that precise feeling. Liar, Liar Hearts On Fire does not disappoint on either fronts. It melts the heart and generates the goofy smile. I generally am not a big fan of the single dad trope, but Tripp is the BEST single dad. And this is another example of something that Pippa Grant excels at: writing dreamy Heroes. Along with laugh out loud banter and inner dialogue that I can’t seem to get enough of. The scenes with Tripp’s fellow Bro Code bandmates are the absolute best! And the back and forth between Tripp and Lila provide some pure moments of gold. The coincidence of this story (about a sanitizer-carrying Hero that has an OTT reaction to germs due to a death from the flu) coming out during the current situation going on in the world makes this a pretty relatable read.
Other reviewers have gone in to more specifics of the storyline, so I am not going to do that. I just want to stress to a potential reader that this book would be an excellent choice if you are looking for something fun to read for an escape and if you like Heroes that make you swoon with some adorable kids moments, plus a slow burn with an enemies to lovers vibe. I absolutely recommend this book. I received an advanced copy to read and all opinions are mine alone.
This one had me in the feels. While Pippa is known for a good laugh (and this book had some good ones) this was an expansion for the Pippaverse. This one really explored all of the feelings. Much more mushy than generally this is the story of Tripp, widower and dad, who may have some hypochondriac issues and Lila, genius, orphaned daughter of a CIA spy who just happened to inherit the bankrupted baseball team the Fireballs. I genuinely loved each of these characters and their love story. There were definitely the Pippa scenes that you can expect in the Duck “relations” and bathroom scene but it was also a really in depth look at how love doesn’t just overcome trauma, that anyone who has experience trauma needs to push to make love work with trauma.
This is the 3rd book in this awesome series and is Tripp and Lila’s story. Tripp is a single dad who is determined to but the local failing baseball club. Lila inherited this baseball club and in determined to succeed. These two do not get off to the best of starts, but my word, this is a laugh-out-loud rom com from beginning to end. This is a beautifully written story which is fun, entertaining, humorous, and steamy which pulls at the heartstrings. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all readers.
Pippa Grant is one of my all-time favorite authors. I LOVE hanging out in the world she created and first shared in Mister McHottie, and I look forward to any book even remotely within the orbit of that world. With that being said, I was apprehensive about reading this one because unlike many readers, I am not a big fan of single-dad stories or of grieving widower/widow books (and this is both), so I really didn’t think it would be my thing. Still, no way I’m not reading a Pippa book and missing the chance to snort-laugh repeatedly, no matter how depressing I may think the backdrop of the story is going to be. So read it I did. Turns out, it was a wise decision for two main reasons. First, as I expected, I was immediately sucked back into the fun-loving world of the Bro Code guys and others from the Pippaverse, and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. Second, as I did NOT expect, I was pleasantly surprised with how well Ms. Grant handled the whole widower/single-dad thing. There was no getting bogged down in the drama of “oh, I still love my dead wife and don’t know if I can love you,” or “the kids will not accept you,” or any of that other realistic crap that I don’t want to deal with when I’m reading fiction, especially a rom-com. Don’t get me wrong–it was handled realistically, very much so in fact, but it didn’t dwell on the parts that are super depressing. So, kudos to the author for taking what I find to typically be a depressing trope and rising above the drama to primarily focus on the comedy of it all. Even the drama that is there to create the necessary angst isn’t what you would expect. It is quite timely, though. I’ve always thought that Pippa was some kind of sorceress with her magical ability to weave a great story, but now I’m also convinced that she is psychic.
Pippa fan girl here. Every time she puts out a new book, I think there’s no way it’s going to be better than any previous books and she proves me wrong every single time. This books is no exception. Lila and Tripp’s chemistry is absolutely fantastic, Tripp’s kids are hilarious, and I LOVE reading about characters from her other books. This one has a lot of heart to it as well, and I loved every second of it.
This book hit on every emotion physically and mentally in my body and mind. It kept me up all night trying to figure out how I was going to write this review. Yes, it was funny at many parts but there is so much more to this book. The story of both Tripp and Lila touched me deeply and had me tearing up at different parts. This is actually three different stories blended into one. First there’s Tripp’s journey with his kids and dealing with so much in his past, his paranoia and trying so hard to get back to normal. The way the author wrote this character you could literally feel his emotions as if they were your own. Then there’s Lila. Here story is so different from Tripp’s yet she is powerful and you think strong. She is a force to be reckoned with, but is she really? Or does she just cover it well? The third story is the story of them both. The “meet cute” is adorable. It sets the stage for everything to come. Believe me, there is A LOT to come. There’s a saying, “Fact is stranger than fiction”. In this book, fiction mirrors in part what could be fact. But strange with this group is normal and that’s a fact! I don’t do spoilers so you have to read the book to get everything I’m referring to. Where would the fun be if I told you everything.
This book is full of mystery, intrigue, romance, laughs, off the chart cuteness, heart tugging moments, emotional meltdowns and heat!!!
We’re also lucky enough to have characters from past stories incorporated into this book. Don’t worry it’s a standalone but once you read this you’ll be looking to read the other stories asap!
In my opinion this is one of the author’s best. Pippa never fails to deliver on hilarity and emotion. It is off the charts packed with both. I’m not a Liar so when I say this book will hit you straight in the heart I mean it!
