The lies will come back to bite you every time…Never borrow pants from your brother. Especially if he’s a size smaller than you are, because all that pressure in the junk will short-circuit your brain. And you’ll lie to a woman in a club about your real name.Leave her unsatisfied after making out in a bathroom. Then find out that she’s the one thing standing in the way of your dreams. And she … standing in the way of your dreams. And she very much doesn’t like being lied to.
Now I have to convince Lila Valentine—the woman I can’t stop thinking about, my biggest regret, and my new boss—that I’m what’s best for the baseball team she’s inherited.
If we can’t work together to save the Fireballs, the commissioner’s forcing a sale and moving them across the country.
I’ll do anything to save my home team.
But the one thing I can’t do?
Keep my hands to myself.
Which would be fine, if she hadn’t been telling me lies this whole time too.
Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire is a rocking fun romance between a single dad obsessed with baseball, an heiress with secrets, baseball pants, a rundown team, and rabid ducks. It stands alone and comes with a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

Don’t touch that drink. Consider candy a choking hazard. And whatever you do, do NOT read this book in public!!! We really need a term beyond ‘side-splitting, gut-busting, laugh-out-loud funny’ to describe a Pippa book, because they’re so far beyond funny it’s, well, not funny. And you should probably warn your family. My dear hubby startles fairly easily and he’s now seeing a therapist weekly and on medication because every time I open my mouth he’s afraid of the noise I might make after living through my reading Lila and Tripp’s story.
Yes, I’m joking, but this book is just that hilarious. Plus I lost ten minutes of my life googling duck anatomy, so it’s educational as well. Yeah, I’m kidding about the educational part, but I’ll still never get those ten minutes back (and I just might be scared for life). And Grant always gives us a wonderful balance of humor, heat and heart, but this one has heart with a capital H.
Tripp Wilson is a single dad (cue vulnerability), with some understandable anxiety and phobias, who has moved back to Cooper Valley. Now he and his fellow boy band Bro Code members want to buy the floundering but beloved baseball team, the Fireballs. Lila Valentine is a girl with few friends, no family and lots of secrets (cue more vulnerability). Her last living relative has died and left her as owner of the Fireballs, and she’s determined to turn the team around because it was special to her mother.
Tripp and Lila are so amazing together! At first they’re like oil and water, bickering and clashing heads. But it’s not long before they recognize something in each other and grow closer in spite of themselves. Tripp grew up in a neighborhood that was a throwback to simpler times. Everyone was welcome in everyone’s home, his friends’ parents would ground him along with their own kid, families encompassed everyone, and brothers of the heart were just as important as those borne of blood.
Lila sees this bond with Tripp’s family and friends, and it’s something she’s never had. Her pattern has always been to find a big challenge, conquer it, and move on, but Tripp causes her to long for something she never expected. She sees the way he takes care of others, parents his children, and his wonderful support network, and she wants desperately to have something like that in her life. But a big part of her wonders if she’ll be ready to move on once she’s succeeded in making the Fireballs the team they can be.
Forget six degrees of separation. In Grant’s book world, it’s more like two degrees, and we get to see Parker with her crazy texts and Knox, aka Mr. Romance. Plus there are appearances from Wyatt and Sarah, and too many others to name here. It’s one big, outrageous world, and we also see characters in upcoming books, which I can’t wait to read!
This book isn’t terribly heavy on the angst. It won’t wreck and ruin you, but the heartstrings definitely get a workout. Along with the abdominal muscles, which will be sore for days from all the laughing you do. If you haven’t read one of this author’s books, you’re really, really missing out! You’ll fall in love with these characters, they’ll find a place in your heart, and you’ll be eager for more. If you like romantic comedies, you’ll absolutely love Tripp and Lila’s story! Get ready for a great abdominal workout, and for your heart to happy sigh, and try to be less traumatized over the ducks than Lila. 😉
Pippa Grant had me at Tripp’s first lie. It takes a lot to manage tight white pants and a woman with strawberry daiquiri in her hair. And he definitely…doesn’t.
Laugh all the way to the happily ever after in Pippa’s newest and greatest rom com.

You know the book is funny when you have to put it away while on public transit, because you are laughing so hard.
I will never look at a duck the same way again! The amount of OMG and what the duck moments are just perfect. I want more of Tripp and Lila. Actually I want more Bro Code. Pippa Grant continues to makes me laugh. This book is needed in our times of isolation.

“ Emma’s decided that the only place she’ll sleep is under the kitchen table, naked, while cuddling a rock and using a pile of pilfered underwear as a pillow”.
I absolutely ADORE this heartwarming story about second chances in love, overcoming fears and trust issues and learning to love again.
In true Pippa Grant fashion, this tender tale of a single father learning to let go and love again, and the unexpected heiress of a (bankrupted) baseball team the said hero wants to buy, is full of humor, swoon, steam, laugh out loud moments, love and surprises.
Tripp and his band of brothers, formerly known as Bro Code – one of the most famous and successful boy bands of the past, have a business plan, capital and the desire to buy their hometown baseball team, so they can restore it to it’s former success and bring joy to their beloved town of Copper Valley.
What their business plan did not anticipate was the untimely death of it’s current owner and the team being inherited by his niece Lila Valentine.
In an unprecedented move the Commissioner of the league mandates that Lila appoints Tripp to be the Fireballs President.
Will Tripp and Lila successfully overcome their differences, attraction and difficult past experiences and partner to bring the team back from the bottom of the pit of despair and disrepair? Will they allow their feelings for each other to grow into something more as they navigate through the impossible task of rebuilding the organization they both love?
Liar, Liar Hearts on Fire has easily become my favorite book by this author. Be it Tripp’s adorable, precious and mischievous children – Emma and James, getting to visit with our beloved Pippaverse characters, the “love ducks of Duggan field”, or the mysterious Uncle Guido, this terrific book is jam packed with everything a romcom reader could ever dare to dream of, and I cannot recommend it enough – a definite must read!
Ohhhh, Tripp, you are one hot mess. Bless your heart; life has not been kind. You have issues, and you carry a lot of responsibility. So we start in Liar, Liar Hearts on Fire. Tripp is trying to break out, and it is a bit of train wreck involving mistaken identities, strawberry daiquiris, club bathrooms, and not enough hand sanitizer. He’s got a lot on in his mind and heart. He needs to move on from where he’s been for himself and his children. And then he meets Lila.
Yes, we have Lila, we met Lila Valentine in Stud in the Stacks. I liked her there, sassy and sure of herself. And I am thrilled she’s got her own story. You just kind of knew there was more to Lila than we were getting in that story, and here she gets all the good stuff. And she deserves it. Although between ducks, an overly protective “uncle,” and cleaning up after a deceased uncle who participated in some questionable activities, not to mention figuring out her relationship(s) with Tripp, this girl has her work cut out for her.
Add in the rest of the boys from Bro Code, some of the Thruster hockey crowd, and Lila’s friends from NY (Parker and Knox), and you have one hilarious convocation of entertainment in Copper Valley. We need more field trips to Shipwreck so we can add a cussing parrot to the divebombing randy ducks. Pippa can write hilarious chaos like nobody’s business, and I swear I hope she keeps on doing it.
I’ve come to expect laugh-out-loud hilarity from Pippa Grant. There are always crazy stunts, snort-worthy innuendo, and tons of animal antics (this time with ducks!!). I definitely got all that with Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire plus a very emotional, lovely story about trust, grief and love.
I’ve been a big fan of both Lila and Tripp’s (from different books) for a long time and I was so excited that they were being matched up. Both have very compelling back stories and I loved watching them banter over the baseball team…and everything else.
Pippa Grant hit it out of the park once again!!
When it comes to Pippa Grant books I know I can count on a great story full of laughs and Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire is no exception to this.
Tripp Wilson is a single father (swoon) who loves baseball (double swoon) and wants to purchase a baseball team that he grew up watching as a child. There is just one thing in his way, Lila Valentine. A gorgeous woman with secrets. I loved Tripp and Lila’s chemistry. The banter these two had was great from the very first moment they met.
Tripp is caring, loving, protective and will do anything he can to make sure his two children have everything they deserve. Lila is hardworking and determined to be the best at anything she is involved in. She hasn’t had an easy life and works hard for everything she has.
This book is a slow burn, enemies to lovers, rom com that will capture your attention from the very first page and capture it until the very end. Another MUST READ from Pippa Grant that will leave you laughing until you’re crying!
4.5 stars
This book is so cute it’s crazy. Pippa Grant always takes the reader for a good old fashioned romp full of humor, heart and heat.
As the oldest member of the boy band, Bro Code, Tripp was always the responsible one. It was only too soon for him when the band retired and he was able to slink into obscurity with his beloved wife and children. When his wife unexpectedly dies, Tripp devotes all his time to raising his children, and well, buying stock in hand sanitizer. The moment he sees Lila something comes back to life in him. They spar, fight and the spark between them is undeniable.
Lila lives her life to make sure she doesn’t get close enough to anyone to lose them but longs for connection. Tripp is someone she is having trouble keeping at arms length, mostly because her arms really, really want to be around him but also, because he has a family she covets.
The sass is strong with these two! Hysterical and heartfelt, the banter is adorable and will tug at your heartstrings in a big way! Loved catching up with the Bro Code bros and all their lovelies! You’ll love this ride through crazy town, just like I did!

Holy duck this book is funny! I mean laugh out loud, so hard you cry, snort that water you just drank out your nose funny but it also has so much heart. One minute you are laughing and the next you are feeling all warm on gooey inside. There is also some sad but it is so well balanced out by the happy and the sweet. I absolutely loved the other two books in the Bro Code series. They were funny and had amazing characters, hello how can you not love Beck Ryder, but this book was just more. Tripp Wilson is incredible and an incredible person like Tripp needs an incredible partner like Lyla Valentine. The best part you get all those great characters from other Pippa Grant books you know you loved with even mention of some cow dogs taking a walk and some hockey playing twins. I love how she has created this awesome interconnected world that we get to visit with each new book oh and the laughs the laughs are great too. Also Tripps obsession with hand sanitizer and germs is so perfect for what is going on in the world today. I was also really excited at the mention of a Fireballs series! I am always down for a new book from Pippa Grant.
*** I did receive a free copy of the book from Pippa Grant and Give Me Books PR in exchange for a fair and honest review ***
When I started reading this story I told myself I’d only read a few chapters and then go accomplish something. The next thing I know I’m almost 50% in. Apparently I just couldn’t put it down. The story not only flowed really well but was so good!
Tripp is an amazing dad. Yeah he has his hangups, but don’t we all? Though Tripp’s were a little extreme I could also understand why? His little kids were absolutely adorable. I just loved their little kid talk.
Lila’s story was quite interesting. She overcame so many obstacles and made it out bigger and better. I wasn’t expecting all of her secrets though. Some I figured, some I didn’t see coming.
These two were an amazing couple. I loved watching them fall in love. It was almost an insta-love but with an enemies to lovers twist thrown in as well. They might have started out with mistaken identity but at least they didn’t instantly jump into bed and spend the whole book with make up sex. This story had depth and heart and kept me giggling and smiling. It was just what I needed. I always enjoy this author’s book. They just keep getting better and better. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
“Liar Liar Hearts on Fire” is exactly what I needed right now, it’s a fantastic five plus star read. Having read and loved Books 1 and 2 of the Bro Code Series I was dying to read this book and what an absolutely well written, laugh out loud, hold your breath, sexy, sexy romcom read it is.
Pippa Grant outdoes herself with Tripp and Lila’s story. It’s a romance readers dream read because:
Single daddy, ex rockstar with a hand sanitizer/Clorox wipe fetish main character
Career oriented, romance reader guru, wealthy and slightly damaged heroine
Off the charts, melt your panties oops I meant Kindle chemistry
Kiddos who will own you with their antics
Cameos of peeps from previous books that you will love to see.
All this and so much more. Trust me when I say you need this book and series in your life because everyone deserves to read a make you laugh, sexy times filled, feel good read, right about now. TBR and enjoy. (I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.)
Reading a new Pippa book is like catching up with a crazy, hilarious friend after way too long. Lila’s story was a long time coming. She and Tripp complement each other so well. Both are independent, yet happy taking care of each other. And the fact that their arguments only make them hotter proves how good they are for each other.
As much as I adored our lead couple, I was psyched to hang out with my faves- Parker and Knox- again. I am so glad Parker got to meet some of her idols. And it was just as awkward as I expected. Don’t even get me started on how much I missed Nana! Pretty sure I snort-laughed every single time she showed up.
A fresh take on the single dad, workplace, enemies to lovers tale where everyone is hiding something. She is the boss and he is the overworked caregiver who needs a break. Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire is a delightful read that has all the shenanigans and heart with just the right amount of steam. This was a delightful read that brought me laughter and tugged at my heart without any overblown drama or contrived angst.
LOVED Tripp and Lila’s story!! This story is so satisfying. Former boy-bander Tripp Wilson meets his match in Lila Valentine the niece of the recently deceased owner of a baseball team. While Tripp manages to make a mess of his first encounter with Lila, she’s also hiding a whopper of a secret too.
Tripp Wilson, oldest and more responsible member of Bro Code, not to mention single dad to the two adorable germ-filled kids, is ready to buy his childhood team the Cooper Valley Fireballs. He just needs a meeting with owner to convince him to sell the last place team. Lila Valentine is out to humor her uncle at club in New York. A case of mistaken identity that spirals out of control and Tripp and Lila are forced to work together by the baseball commissioner. With two strong willed foils in Tripp and Lila how hard could running a baseball team together be? Will they both be able to trust each other? And who’s gonna win the mascot play-off?
From mating ducks in the dugout, to possible secrets in the ceiling and a major germ-phobia, I was laughing the entire time. And Tripp’s extended family is absolutely a pleasure, i want to be a part of the Bro Code family. I received an ARC for a voluntary and honest review.
Small children, chipmunks, ducks, snakes, rolly polly’s and Jupiter, a small menagerie of fun. Laugh out loud romance, angst, drama makes this story a fun, enjoyable read. All the books in this series are so much fun. Don’t miss this one. Add to your TBR read.
5 humongous, laughing myself silly stars.
No matter how upset or sad you might feel upon starting reading a book by Pippa Grant, you can be sure that within minutes of opening your e-book or PB, that you WILL be smiling. Laughing, snorting and shaking your head in disbelief at just how funny this writer’s books are.
Liar, Liar, Hearts On Fire is the newest addition to this growing pile of gut-busting stories.
It’s hilarious, adorable, sweet and freaking just the best remedy for the world we are currently facing.
It’s not all fun and games though. This book has a bit more of a serious side to it, and Tripp’s issues and coming to terms with them made me wanna cry and hug the heck out of him. He’s a man lost in his own head and facing irrational fears. He knows it, be he can’t seem to get over it. He moved back home to be closer to his Bro Code family and his parents. But, he’s a man on the edge- and a man with a mission.
Buy the Fireballs and make them the best baseball team-ever!
Lila Valentine has spent the last decade pretending and hiding. When her uncle dies and leaves her the Fireballs, she comes to Copper Valley to set it to rights- not to sell them.
Of course, these two clash over the best way to deal with their disagreements, but with time, they start to see each other better. They get each other.
Lila and Tripp might have had a rough start, but it’s not long before they’re fully invested. Until… oh, my God. I cried. I literally cried for Tripp. I felt his pain and remorse.
Like I said, it’s not all rainbow and roses, but at the end of the day, hearts are all that matter. I think this might just be my new favorite Pippa Grant book. Certainly the best ‘Bro Code’ one.
SO SO LOVED Tripp and Lila’s journey! I love all Pippa’s books anyway, but this one was extra special. Between the ducks and the cute antics of Emma and James, this whole book was page after pages of laughs and AWWW’s! Don’t get me wrong they had things to overcome, but just SO what I really needed right now, a wonderful escape and any time I can take a trip into Pippa’s world (see what I did there 😉 ) its always worth the visit and I can’t wait to go back! And Tripp is so neurotic (has every reason to be but still) I related to him in a way I haven’t with other characters and it was great to see it represented so well with him. Even among Pippa books, this one will stand out as a favorite!
Tripp and Lila don’t make sense on paper. They are stubborn, used to getting their own way and want to get their own way. Lila grew up without her parents and she’s been told secrets about her parents her entire life that leave her questioning who she can trust. Tripp’s wife died and he almost lost his daughter, so he goes overboard trying to protect those he loves. Tripp and Lila fight over everything including their attraction to each other. Will they come around and be willing to compromise when their futures are on the line??
Liar, Liar Hearts on Fire is another amazing read by Ms. Grant. I can’t wait for more Bro Code!!!!
A softer romantic comedy that still contains all of the wonderful Pippa elements that make up her wacky worlds, but both Tripp and Lila were characters that had deep emotional factors that made this a more relevant touching story.
Perhaps it’s the pandemic, but Tripp Wilson’s story seemed not only relevant, but I have a daughter who is a hypochondriac. Tripp lives with anti-bacterial gel tucked into his pocket and in our own home we have lived for years with this gel tucked into every crevice of our home for our daughters OCD needs. Tripp’s need to constantly wash everything, keep his kids healthy, and just be an overall caring great father is so endearing he’s very easy to fall in love with. When he lost his wife to the flu, he may have gone a little off the deep end of being a germaphobe, but I seriously understood him on so many levels. When Lila comes into his life, it’s the first time he’s felt anything since losing his wife and he doesn’t really know how to feel about it. He’s been on single mode for so long and focused on just being a father, he hasn’t really thought about his libido, but Lila switches it on and once she does he doesn’t know how to switch it off.
Lila Valentine lost her parents when she was a young girl. Her uncle took over as her guardian, but he immediately shipped her off to boarding school so she really only had herself to rely on. When she inherits the Fireballs baseball team upon his death and has the option to sell it, she declines wanting to feel some sort of connection to the family she never really had. Even though her loss was years ago, it still is very relatable to Tripp’s loss which is still fairly fresh. They understand one another, along with getting under each others skin which makes for a fun, but also emotional read.
While they try hard to work together, while also riling each other up at every opportunity, they also soothe each others sore spots. It’s a lovely story filled with family and sports and tight pants.
The extra fun treat to Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire is Bro Code. Every member makes an appearance and everytime they pop up is absolutely delicious and lifts the mood for lots of laughs.
I absolutely loved this book!!!!! Tripp & Lila were so real & I loved every single moment they shared. I loved the kids & the friends & family too. This definitely ranks in my top 3 Pippa Grant book! Amazing!!!
