Fake it until you make it. That was the mantra Cori Dash chanted as she chased a big city dream. The more you tell people you’re on top of the world, the more they believe it – just like they believed the embellished image she sold them with her knock off designer facade. It wasn’t lying if the truth stood somewhere in the middle – and she didn’t get caught. Dominic Blackthorne owned half of that … caught.
Dominic Blackthorne owned half of that big city…and a reputation. Rather than dispel rumors or show the world the real Nick, he let his own fake image run free. Until Cori Dash – the only person who told him exactly how it was, even if it stung.
When Cori is faced with her ex-fiance, now engaged to her ex-best friend, it’s game on. In her boldest move yet, she concocts her biggest lie to date by introducing the first handsome stranger that walks by as her new fiancé. Happy to play the part, Nick is already planning the fake wedding of her dreams.
You know what they say about lying – the truth always comes out – and it hurts. Especially when Cori finds out she isn’t the biggest Liar in this game, and she’s been out played.

This is a really great read. The characters are wonderful and the story is laugh out loud funny. I love that Nick just goes along with Cori without even knowing why? They are a match made in heaven, even if they both don’t know that is the case. What starts out as a fake engagement soon turns into a real life love story but as with all love stories there is heartbreak before the happy ever after.
What starts as a simple lie when Cori Dash feels compelled to create an image of her own loving fiancé when confronted by her ex-BF and ex-fiancé compounds itself when she realizes her fake fiancé is her boss Nick Blackthorne. As the lie continues to grow taking on a life of its own so do the feelings between Cori and Nick until it all becomes more than Cori is ready for and not what Nick hopes for.
This is a wonderful, engaging romance with delightful highs and heartbreaking lows. The storyline is very appealing with the right mix of humor, drama, romance and steamy passion. The characters are well-developed and interesting. Once you start, you will find it hard to put down. I strongly recommend this as a must read!
I loved this book! It was so much fun & lighter. I loved how Cori was quick to say she was engaged to Nick, who was a stranger to her at the time after running into her ex-fiance & ex best friend who were now engaged to each other. It was fun to see how a fake relationship turned into a real one. Cori & Nick had great chemistry & it was so much fun to see them fall in love. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
I had no idea what I was getting into with Liar, so when I started laughing my ass off I couldn’t stop reading. What was supposed to be ‘let me just read a few chapters before I make dinner’ turned into me calling my husband and telling him I’m not cooking tonight and he needs to fend for himself.
It’s impossible to not love Nick from the very moment he is introduced. Cori is just so awkward and funny, with the worst luck, but she handles it in stride. I loved the banter between Cori and Nick, their chemistry was perfect. Watching them handle this fake engagement was funny, but most of all fun. I really hope to see them pop more in the SSK world.
This was an amazingly cute love story! While you might think it’s your typical fake fiancé falls in love for real, there are definitely some twists and turns thrown into the plot! I would highly recommend this book and author!
Wow what an extremely fun read. It will literally have you laughing out loud. You will fall in love with Cora and Nick and be screaming more when it ends.
Fun, flirty book that ended too soon. I really enjoyed reading the unconventional romance of Nick and Cori. The little surprises that came up throughout the book alternately made me laugh and gasp. Cori was very relatable as a woman who truly lived the “fake it ’til you make it” mantra, and Nick was both charming and down-to-earth in a way that made him seem attainable. My only real complaint was that the end felt a little rushed. I would have loved another couple chapters to really round out the happy ending.
spoiler alert ** Loved this book. It was funny, charming, had me laughing so hard, endearing.
Oh and so much more.
Cori Dash wasn’t sure what to do when she saw her ex-best friend, and ex-fiancé in the park.
But what she does do is hilarious. One little lie turns out to be so much more.
When Nick gets dragged into this fiasco, but he goes along with it. He hates to see Cori be treated this way. She doesn’t know him, but he may know her. The fun has just begun.
Hang on to see what happens. Some good twists in here.
You will absolutely love.
Cori runs into her ex-fiance and her ex-best friend who are engaged. She introduces them to her new guy, who she doesn’t even know. Nick is the guy, who goes along with her lie. He soon takes this lie to a whole new level. This is a beautiful, funny and a good time for all book.
This novella starts with plenty of action right off the bat as Cori is stuck in a lie and thinks quick to save face. Poor Nick didn’t stand a chance as Cori grabs him as he’s walking by and shows him off to her ex-fiance and ex-best friend as her new fiance. Little does she know as he plays along with her ruse just how far out of control one little lie can get. I loved how well these two got along and their antics to continuously one-up Winnie and Philip. True to form, the author pens characters with amazing depth and adds in the twist that the readers don’t see coming.
Faking It So Hard!
Dominick “Nick” Blackthorne is a powerhouse, the consummate businessman, successful in all he does & he’s absolutely dreamy. Cori is his complete opposite; she comes with a tumultuous history, unable to trust anyone & works tirelessly to improve her life, even if it means keeping up a facade.
Being a woman who comes from meager beginnings myself, I can relate with Cori, and I love a good rags-to-riches story, especially when there are no expectations attached. so I enjoyed every single ounce of this story & watching Nick & Cori come together was so heartwarming! Stephanie St. Klaire really has a way of making her characters endearing, you just can’t help but fall in love with this couple, real or not, so I’m really looking forward to the next book in this series & hoping to see more of them in the future! Along with more sultry rendezvous in, and out, of the bedroom between C & N!! Holy hotness, their chemistry is among the best & most natural that I’ve read in a long time! This is a fun read & I just can’t help myself, I want more!! Excellent work Stephanie!
Liar is charming Cinderella love story. Cori literally pulls Nick into her lie. She is a smart and bold young woman. Nick is perfect Prince for Cori. Nick is truly a romantic hero. I think every girl wants to feel special. Nick certainly does this for Cori. Nick makes her feel like the belle of the ball. They are two people fate truly brought together. This a fun fairy tale romance.
A quick little romance. This story is about Cori and Nick. Cori meets Nick in the park when she is in desperate need of a fiancée. Cori is cornered by her ex-fiancée and ex-best friend who are together now. She needs to save face (or so she thinks) and grabs the hot guy walking by. Luckily he goes along with her story and then some. Nick really likes Cori and keeps coming up with things they need to do so they can prove to her ex-BFF & ex-fiancée that they are together. Really he just wants Cori to realize the are good together. From the minute you meet Nick you fall for him. You can just feel how much he is in love with Cori. I loved Cori’s relationship with Tony, company security guard/ pseudo father. Can’t forget Cori’s real BFF James and Devine Devine. Such a great, fun story.
We’ve all done it. That little white lie. No one will get hurt. It will make a difficult situation a little better. I know we’ve all done it.
When Cori Dash realizes her ex-best friend and her ex-fiancé, (who are now a couple,) are closing in on her at a company sponsored event, she grabs a man and introduces him as her fiancé. He plays along.
Dominic, AKA Nick, is intrigued by Cori and the whole situation. He soon realizes who Cori is, even when she doesn’t.
Don’t even get me started on Tony! OMG, I laughed each time he was part of the scene!
Hilarity, high jinks, and a happily ever after! What a fabulous romcom from Stephanie St. Klaire!
“Love is a gamble-it’s hard, it hurts, and it’s worth it because its joy, and happiness, and adventurous. You need to gamble, honey. That man loves you probably more than you, him. I’d say he’s a safe bet. If not … there’s always my cousins Vinnie and Guido.”
When I read stories from Stephanie, I’m always assailed by laughter, love, and community…and maybe a little bit of intrigue revolving around someone’s death. I was surprised we made it through this story without any
So, first off, I LOVE Nick. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! He is probably one of the most kindhearted men I’ve met. Also, how many favors is he owed?! (You’ll get it when you read, I promise.) He doesn’t make all the best choices, but ultimately he is still a good man who deserves someone to recognize that.
Cori is someone I can identify with, a lot. Honestly, I think many people could. Cori comes from a past that is not conducive to climbing the social ladders of the big city, and she has goals to succeed. She keeps this past mostly hidden, and just pretends to be the person she needs to be in order to find success. Unfortunately, Cori’s exes (boyfriend AND friend) are proving to try to make life miserable for her. This, accidentally, leads her to Nick.
This story definitely made me laugh, and even hurt my heart a bit. While I’m never a fan of lying, I can absolutely understand why this ruse was concocted. The problem is, whenever you begin one lie-no matter how small-you end up with about 100 more to cover it up. This is where these lies can make life tricky, and sometimes even lose us what we treasure most. This intersection is where we see what makes or breaks these two.
I totally enjoyed this new, death free, story of Stephanie’s!
I loved this book. It had me laughing so many times and it’s just an all around sexy and sweet romance.
Cori is a hard working no time for men, career driven female. She will give the shirt off of her back if she could to someone in need, and is always putting others before herself. Having been hurt in the past she now throws herself into her work. She’s working towards her next promotions and putting together a presentation for a VP Position. But what happens when she runs into her Ex-boyfriend, and ex-best friend? Little does Cori know the man she pulls into her Lie about being her fiance, is also the owner of the company she works for. But Nick having everything plays along with Cori and pretends to be just that, her fiance.
What happens when the lines get blurred? Will Cori really give into the feelings she has for Nick? Or is it all too good to be true?
I could not put this short read down once I started it. I had to know how it was all going to play out. You will fall in love with the characters.
I absolutely loved this book! I love the way this author brought Cori and Nick together. How a chance encounter ignited a fake engagement then a sweet, witty, heartwarming love story. The chemistry between Nick and Cori was great. I really love how they worked together to keep the fake engagement going in front of Winnie and Phillip and they always came out on top. Nick and Cori didn’t get an easy HEA they had a bit of a bumpy ride at the end but they made it. If you’re looking for a great, funny entertaining read this is the one! I highly recommend this book to everyone.
Cori and Dominic (Nick) are who we meet in this romantic comedy, a first for Stephanie St Klair.
Never fear, this story still has the flair and suspense from the stories you’re used to by Stephanie.
Cori is trying to find her way in life, and is constantly being tormented by people from her past. She’s hilarious, has attitude and is not a wilting Rose.
Nick is a man who’s in the right place to help Cori out. He’s supportive, fun and warms your….. HEART! (Don’t be dirty)
FLOVED this story and the fresh look at love Stephanie has given us. Can’t wait to see what she has in store next!
I loved reading Cori and Nick’s story! Can they go from a spur of the moment fake engagement to a happily ever after? Or will their lies catch up to them? This book has lots of humor, great chemistry and incredible characters – including the secondary characters! Definitely a must read for rom-com lovers!
I Love This Story!
A very entertaining, down to earth story. I was immediately sympathetic to Cori’s dilemma of her ex-fiancé and ex-best friend’s enjoyment of rubbing her nose in the fact that she couldn’t possible hold onto her man without being filthy rich. Then the fun begins when Nick is inadvertently brought into the picture. He immediately catches on to the ruse and takes it completely over the top!
As sweet and humble as Cori is, she can’t believe that a multi-rich person like Nick could ever be interested in her. She doesn’t see herself as the beauty and down to earth person that Nick sees and becomes attracted to. He knows that she is very different from the rest. Cori could care or less about Nick’s net worth which he finds very refreshing!
This story has a very light and humorous vibe. Cori is almost clueless when it comes to men thinking she is attractive and sexy. Nick see that, her intelligence and her ambition within his company. I like a story that can have all the elements of a hot, sexy love story that also entertains with humor and sweet romance. I really enjoyed it!
