Fake it until you make it. That was the mantra Cori Dash chanted as she chased a big city dream. The more you tell people you’re on top of the world, the more they believe it – just like they believed the embellished image she sold them with her knock off designer facade. It wasn’t lying if the truth stood somewhere in the middle – and she didn’t get caught. Dominic Blackthorne owned half of that … caught.
Dominic Blackthorne owned half of that big city…and a reputation. Rather than dispel rumors or show the world the real Nick, he let his own fake image run free. Until Cori Dash – the only person who told him exactly how it was, even if it stung.
When Cori is faced with her ex-fiance, now engaged to her ex-best friend, it’s game on. In her boldest move yet, she concocts her biggest lie to date by introducing the first handsome stranger that walks by as her new fiancé. Happy to play the part, Nick is already planning the fake wedding of her dreams.
You know what they say about lying – the truth always comes out – and it hurts. Especially when Cori finds out she isn’t the biggest Liar in this game, and she’s been out played.

I realize this book is part of a series but you’d never know it. It has everything I look for in a book. A heroine who is funny, bold, strong, a little broken and gets herself into situations that I would find myself in. A hero who puts the heroine above all else no matter what the circumstances. He’s also funny, bold, strong, and a little broken too. They complete each other almost immediately.
Cori is an up and coming executive at her job. She attends a function to be seen and schmooze the bosses. What she doesn’t expect to see is her cheating ex fiancé and her ex best friend. She panics and grabs the first guy she sees to say that he’s her man. It’s a bonus that he’s the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen. They pull off the lie perfectly.
Cut to the next day and Mr. perfect shows up at her job. She mistakes him for a crazy stalker when in reality, he’s the CEO of the company. oops.
Nick is fantastic. He plays along with Cori and wants to continue the lie. He wants to help her put the exes in their place. He just might have his own motives as well but that is to unfold in the book. What I love about Nick is that he starts to feel things for Cori and knows that her trust is hard earned. He shows rather than tells her that she can trust him. It’s in all the little things he does. He calls in favors from everyone under the sun. Of course he would know someone. And Cori has a difficult time just accepting everything that is offered. She would rather earn it. And that is what makes her totally different from every other woman Nick has been with.
This is not the first book I’ve read from Ms. St. Klaire. I have read them all. The common threads that she has in all her books are fantastic supporting characters, funny situations and a twist that you NEVER see coming. I plowed through this book! I didn’t want it to end but I had to see where Cori and Nick would go. I loved it all!
I loved this funny, sexy romp of a book?Cinderella style book. Loved Nick and Cori.well written, literate and fun!
Loved this book. What a great story, so uplifting and i can totally relate to Cori on so many levels. Nick and Cori’s story will have you laughing and falling in love. Definitely a story you have to read. The best part is that its a standalone so only one in the series.
